  1. Absolutely. Nothing better than beating of someone with no honor.
  2. French took those ports because of Danish and Swedish arrogance. Now you want to risk alienation of France on that? You willing to risk another pointless war because the 2 members of Sweden dont like France? You might want to think about your moves.
  3. We don't need part of France to one region you. I think we've proven that.
  4. Not to mention Sweden treatens our traders constantly. Sweden tried to assist Danes in screening and payed for it. Dave of Spain could take Sweden and they are lucky that the nicer side of France allowed them to take two regions. Now, the Danes taking Swedish defined ports is against CCCPs own logic of "making sweden a viable nation" from even the crappy ICS deal. You've proven to France over and over you are not worth being friends. Cheap basic cutter contention tactics and using alts for contention purposes. We get it you dont trust us. We dont trust you at all and we dont really want to work with you in RvR.
  5. Use their own tactics against them!
  6. They made it perfectly clear to France during their diplomacy that Britain is the main enemy. Either they are now tricking the British or trying to make a pvp server a trade goods simulation.
  7. CCCP may win the empty port battles but on the OW France is king. Give up Basse and Grande because at this rate one clan's labor hour aint going to keep up with amount of sinking ships.
  8. Not fake news when the clan you're talking to leaks the plan. Sure maybe not exactly the right time but the intent to appease one clan of France. You're right, no more "deals".
  9. This attitude is just wrong. You can use the Pickle and rarely get killed if you know what you're doing. Sure, you can't take much more than traders but that's still PvP (especially now that traders mount cannons). You can pick and choose your area. Sure you could find lots of enemies at a capital area but you've increased your chances of a defensive force engagement. Instead look for the "boring" area of a trade lane and use patience. "Patience is a hunter's gift." Never stay on station to long. Every minute you sit in a spot after being seen is another minute you'll open yourself up to a larger force attacking you. Hell, this last one can be fun... my group got hit, split, and outnumbered in two battles 6v3 and 3v1 (me) with 2v1 BR disadvantage. The 6v3 the 6 lost 2 and ran with no losses by the 3. Me in the 3v1 took over a hour of position maneuvers, repairs, and of course cannon work which was a very fun loss in which every minute was a chess match. I lost my Essex in an explosive manner and lost 300k gold but it was worth it and it didn't hurt me much because I'm setup to absorb losses. It's a game and it can be challenging because of the human elements coupled with real risk. I like that and that's what makes me play. If my Essex wasn't worth anything, i doubt I'd remember that fight or spend a hour battling in a seemingly hopeless battle.
  10. Yeah, if i recall Blackbeard hated revenge fleets too because it wasnt fair. It broke his immersion for being a pirate.... Yes, I'm being snarky. But seriously, first it's a game and second it's a nice shade of grey in terms of realism. The game and players have the tools and choices available to avoid 90% of the problem stated here. Personally i dont mind the challenge they present.
  11. I'm sure it wasn't Purge either. Its okay... Purge likes a good war.
  12. The French don't share a common front either with the US but it didn't stop you guys marching over to bop NO. I don't blame ya. You dont want French around the conquest generation area and who might spoil your "front" in Cuba. Same reason we bopped Brits out of the windward islands. You can't win because talk is pretty cheap really. I'd be surprised though if you really go at each other though. I mean TRUELY attack each other. I suspect it wont happen because there is already an agreed battlefield and who's going to want to grind up contention over agreed upon areas of control? In all my years of gaming I've rarely seen two higher populations attack each other. Usually, it is pick on the easier targets. NA has been no different. I guess time will tell.
  13. This is an agreement whether you want to pour sugar on it or not. You attacked NO and kicked French out of the Gulf. You choose to skip empty Spanish ports. You're "not an alliance agreement" basically means you "might" fight the Brits around Cuba, maybe a little snuggley port swapping but I'm just going to guess it'll probably be the pirates taking up 95% of your PvP time. I'm not trying to spin here. I'm from the Purge. We don't Alt farm and we don't mind a good fight against zergs. We don't have any agreements with pirates or pirate alts. I'm just pointing out what it appears to look like for a lot of the other PVP minded French who didn't show up to NO.
  14. Its the same thing except on a much larger scale. Something like the entire Gulf. It also gives you one less front to deal with in the RvR world. Unlike the La Tortue area which is in the middle of the Caribbean's PvP. I'm just giving you what it looks like from the Windward Islands point of view. Two large nations dividing up empty ports, accumulating lots of conquest marks for larger warships, then non-aggression agreements on trade with another. You're saying that you'll enter talks with Brits if we start cooperating (which honestly, I think the pirates and French have done more OW PVP than you guys have) but we're seeing cooperation from the you guys already. If we see more help between US, Brit, Dutch then we'll have to assume we'll need friends too.
  15. As a Frenchman, i see the two largest factions dividing half the map and swimming in conquest points. Then another faction in another non aggression pact with the British. That's three factions owning over half the map not attacking each other. You guys worried that some pirates and french might help each other? Funny. You might not call it an alliance but saying Cuba is the dividing line IS an agreement in cooperation.
  16. Players are part of a team called a nation. If a player isn't really a team player then there really isn't much you can do about it. They have the ability to sell those marks before leaving. We need to think about RvR not in past map actions but how RvR strategies might evolve. Now there is a reason to attack Texas. Now there is a reason to attack more strongly defended areas. As players, we need to understand that the RvR game is developing a new level of complexity. Allowing "Carribean Peace" will only strengthen those with the most port captures/active players thus allowing them to build up strength. Not only have the devs pushed for more OW gameplay but also more reason to dot flip.
  17. I'm starting to like this. A lot of the complaints I'm seeing are player fixable since the mechanics are already in place. Empty port battles are common because players are fixated on "early map moves" being a given. If you've got more players than port battle slots, rotate players or have more port battles. Grinding contention a slow process but it allows players to sail and react. Excellent addition because now there is a reason to fight and win regions even if your economy ports are "safe". Power creep is a little scary but that's were OW pvp is the balancing act.
  18. I almost liked your comment until i read this: "Star Wars is not a great story and its full of plot holes." Heretic! Burn the witch! I think the tesbed is pretty decent for the wipe. The idea is clearing the year+ of gold printing, resource stocking, and multimillionaires and then wipe to test the economy is definitely doable. Although expect some more tweeks after wipe.
  19. Then fix that first? Why is it hard for rational, progressive analysis of problems than knee jerking complaints.
  20. As testers perhaps people ahould think about the alternatives in place first? It seems pretty clear to me that crafting repairs and crew replacement might really benefit the recrew, repair options offered by the shop. I see none of that stuff sold by players on testbed. The high cost might be incentives for player economy options especially since mod crafted items are gone. Let's get some real numbers on cost from there before whining about cost of only one aspect of the game.
  21. I for one think if we are going to "take the training wheels off" we need to bring back the storm map. Make it rare or tie it to OW storms I don't know but it is unique content especially for larger ships. Too many players were complaining about how hard it was in Sea Trials, everyone was newish back then, and now there are plenty of Vets out there who need a challenge every so often. It shouldn't even really be tied to an event. Bring back the Storm Map! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uTZNeG0efo
  22. I've been playing as long as Slamz but I'm still not max level. I don't like grinding and my play times were off of most PBs. You can PvP in small ships but its a different gaming and mentality. You're the fox looking for the chicken trying not to get caught by the farmer. Unfortunately, that doesn't net you much Xp. I enjoyed the hunt (and being chased by the farmer too) and a new player can easily enter into this game as a trader raider and not worry about the upgrades. If a new player went this route, they may never level up enough to sail first rates in a year but will probably have the money to sail a fleet of them. I think if I started at 0 again, I wouldn't have much of a problem because as a vet I understand the limitations of gameplay that smaller ships have. I had hoped for more smaller ship RvR mechanics (I had fingers crossed for Raids) vs an area of shallows that are dominated by heavy Rattlers. A new player would have trouble against experienced HRats captains and still not earn much xp from that PvP fight. The concern is the lack of knowledge in leveling through the "newbie" ships and what's doable. There is a learning curve here that isn't easily seen. I think the issue is player expectations. If you want to sail super expensive first rates, participate in RvR and blast other line ships, you'll have to grind it out which is boring but it earns you the fighting skills slowly and the cash slowly to achieve a relatively reasonable lineship gameplay experience. However, if given first rates at start as an example, you'll STILL have to grind out gold to sail that lineship because of the expense of lineship gameplay. So, while I'm not a fan of grind xp, its an understandable requirement to someone who's not familiar with naval action gameplay. You'll lose more from losing 1 first rate than probably a year of small ship fighting. Bascially, the level progression works because it helps with risk by managing your gold. You could lose people to having to grind 500,000 gold for a new ship and crew replacement just as easily (if not more so) than someone who needs to grind xp up to the rank that they perceive is needed to PvP. and I can't believe I'm defending level progression...
