  1. All captains. Please be aware that certain french captains are actually pirates flying false flags (alts) who are scouting ports to inform fellow pirates hiding in battle to appear and kill the unsuspecting captain using magical invisibility and super speed. In addition some cries for help in national chat are actually false signals from mentioned captains as well. Captains responding to such distress calls should be aware of the traps. Advise from seasoned captains should be adhered to as best as possible. Such actions are to be expected from those who have no honor and in most cases no skill. Orders still stand to hunt all pyrate and pyrate sympathizing Danes throughout the Caribbean.
  2. So, you think we should of carebeared it up into some super eastern alliance? Been all peaceniks and PvE? Honestly the metagaming is a bit heavy to win 1 VM a week. It's much more fun coursing Willis... he's a pretty good rabbit!
  3. PBs havd been broken since PotBS... a fresh design might really be good for the open world game. Legends can satisfy the arena mode.
  4. You mean Operation Afganistan has just begun.
  5. The death star fleet probably could have wiped the floor of our OW/PB fleet especially if you all didn't have 15 basic cutters sailing around. Instead you chose to port up for over an hr sending the scrubs to die. KoC isnt France. If he doesn't get the kills, someone else does. WO, Love, Bork, Purge, Rovers are usually present and it's not from killing scrubs or traders... Santis burn nicely. You guys play follow the leader nicely in arena PBs but on the OW...meh.
  6. I do find it kind of funny that those who complained about screeners wasting time of a PB fleet heading to port just arrived way early to a port battle and choose to waste their time at the port and port battle effectively screening themselves from any OW pvp. All a matter of priorities i guess.
  7. How many marks did you guys get for the 2hrs(?) you sat in port? The basic cutters were a nice touch... reminded me of CCCP during our prime time.
  8. Wasted time? Nah we sank the trash outside while you guys feverishly sat in port for how long? Only time wasted was by your decision because of your love of PBs. I hope the pirates you left outside get something out of their lost ships. I'm not sure 1 VM per week is enough. I'm pretty casual player and have already earned my combat marks worth for the week. Thanks! And please, don't get so serious. It's a game.
  9. So, its okay for you to attack him personally on the forums (also against the rules) and make silly claims because he doesn't PLAY the game like you? I hope you realize how foolish your claim is. If you have a real issue, then go through the right channels instead of posting off topic to slander a player (also against the rules I believe). Don't hide behind the questionable statement that you respect someone yet accuse them of wrongful behavior the next with very weak claim. How people play a sandbox game can be very diverse but you calling an opinion you don't agree with a "lie" is also incorrect. I think the PB mechanic arena mode is for legends and that new mechanics should be in place for an OW game. Most PBs are PvE... think about how Spain lost all those ports...
  10. We've known for a long time. We also know the Danes will be second place (or first place losers). Good for them. We showed up and killed all those poor trashy pirates who were outside. I'm sure you saw the battlenews while at port?
  11. You know whats better than getting 1 victory mark each week for having the most dots? Getting premade ships that cost more than 1 VM each without costing materials, labor hours, and hauling. Looks like the Danish market is now open.
  12. If you rewarded a defensive port battle win vs port ownership change, then every small nation would never attack unless they just said "screw RvR". In fact, the new rules are going to DESTROY Spain's RvR potential. While they may "win" early weeks, they'll probably have -40 a month into the map.
  13. It might be possible to have a "fishing" like button to start "patrolling zone". It turns off when entering port and its on a timer when exiting any port. That probably would be better. The reason for it being regional based is because of the current contention system. To save on coding time and implementation, you'd use the same methods in the coding for contention for flipping. In a PvP fight within the regional zone, the server calculates BR sunk and scores points much like the PvP events did. Instead of points per player, its by nation.
  14. I know it's late in the game development wise but perhaps this suggestion would be of some use. The PvP events weren't really that wonderful in my opinion. However, those mechanics could be applied to general RvR with a slight twist. Instead of one instanced battle to determine a region through a PB, how about making each region a point scoring zone for several days. The highest point scorer wins. Points would be scored by obviously sinking other players. However the trick is motivate people to be in this zone. How passive points are scored. Once a player enters the contested region, they'll score points over time based on BR. ((Perhaps this will be in the form of a "patrol" button that takes 10 minutes on the sea to light up and resets on docking)) Maybe tied to "days at sea" so that dock hopping isn't encouraged. The points over time caps at some BR level (possibly based on region size?) for each nation. The problem with this idea might be calls back and forth to the server and updates to map points sort of how contention takes a while to update each players map. Shallow areas on OW allow safety for shallow ship BR point generation from larger ships. Obviously battles near forts help defense as typical. No npc generation of points, only player controlled though patrolling the zone or sinking ships of the opposing nation. The one nation with most points after X days wins the region. Example: Region Dominia has been flipped. I patrol solo in my 100BR ship. Once I'm in the region, i score 1 point per 15 minutes in the zone. My friends join making our total BR 2150 BR but the cap is 1000BR so only 10 points are scored per 15 minutes. Then the enemy fleet arrives and battles ensues with each side losing 1000BR worth in ships. That scores 1000 points for each side. Three days later the contested area ends and the enemy wins 23,540 points to 21,550 points. Pros: No more hiding in instances. Screening is basically counted in points. No need to fear of a PB fleet being tagged. Multiday event-style allows more participants. Contested regions become hot zones for pvp. Even other nations might join in although no points are scored. Cons: Strain on calls to and from server and UI updayes. Larger nations may still have the advantage. (Although they'd risk more BR sinking thus more points might be scored by better smaller teams). Some people like arena style combat. Maybe this puts less people on OW and more into NA Legends. Discuss but please leave drama at the door.
  15. Sandbox games suffer this way because of players who don't know what to do... simple goals are best. My goal might be different than yours. You might wish to be part of the team that flips all the dots to "win". That's fine but that isn't everyones goal nor part of the game design.
  16. When will people learn that there are no victory conditions, war goals, or map resets when someone flips all the dots? This isn't Risk, EU#, or PotBS. The mega-zerg will die from internal strife and/or boredom. It's a self created problem by players that will more than likely blame the devs for...
  17. Well, in fairness, we almost won that fight. We were down a clan who were typically active at that time.
  18. Hodo, as a ww2online vet, you know this isn't true. If a team of players can affect change, then things could escalate, and quick openings can happen. Imagen one week of no attack orders from allies or germany and that's what naval action has been this week. Players gotta create content in sandbox games.
  19. Well, the deal in OP was struck and then the Danes ran up contention on two French ports that were to be taken by Sweden. In many minds, that is a break from the treaty. This is after the 40 minute treaty which they then canceled and nobody really knows about. And before that more shenanigans... there is a lot of bad blood out there from these games and it's not from losing any ships...
  20. There is no civil war. There are no mechanics for civil war. If a group wants to be French but follow Danish policy then they probably should be Danish. It's as silly as people metagaming with alts. Reality is those who favored the Danes as masters were not the ones who were flipping your ports. To demand them having a place is a French decision, not Danish.
  21. Because what you've never seen is the ridiculous requests from Danes even as they were losing regions. Stuff like France giving the regions with france proper for various reason that made no sense. What seems like a simple NAP to everyone was, in fact, a drawn out, pain in the arse, fustrating, and annoying requests that didnt mean crap... kindof like this... We were very close to just not negotiating any more.
  22. So, you're okay with them using (or asking) France to attack you? Maybe supplying warships to such a cause? That's really not an issue for you guys? I'm neither saying this is true or not but you really don't understand what's going on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_giver
