Mirones
remove the small huts on the deck they mostly have somon siting in there watching weatherradar +ship radar keep the deck clear as possible. it should have been clear from the beginnign that it looks wrong simpy because there is so much in the way for the crew reloading guns and and and:P so all you have to do mostly is clear the deck. should be an quick and easy fix Edited September 19, 2014 by Mirones

Mirones
yeah basicly cuting out the topcabines is enough
Hanser von Richthofen
look good
CrossedAnchors_and_Harpoon
No cabin tops. Should be flush decked and broader across the beam. "Baltimore Clippers" evolved out of Chesapeake Bay cargo schooners which needed the deck space as the shallow inlets on the Chesapeake required a shallow draft but relatively calm conditions meant cargo could be carried on deck. maturin
I just realized, my boss is the brother of Lynx's captain.
Mirones
so we will hear nothing from you because you are out sailing with her? hope you enjoy it.
maturin
No, my job has nothing at all to do with the sea. Also it's November.
CrossedAnchors_and_Harpoon
The current "privateer" lynx is much smaller than the original Baltimore privateer schooners. She's also downrigged and under maintenance in Cape Charles VA at the moment. I have several friends onboard right now. Speaking of November, my current boat did their last sail of the season yesterday here in Baltimore.
CrossedAnchors_and_Harpoon
Look at my boat Pride of Baltimore 2 if you want a more historical hull form, though she's still smaller than the largest 1812 era vessels of the same design. maturin
Even Pride 2 is downrigged compared to a real extreme Baltimore clipper.
CrossedAnchors_and_Harpoon
No joke. There are stories of old fashioned Baltimore Clippers rolling over in the hook with everything furled there was so much windage aloft. The drawings of Chasseur and the other 1812 era privateers carrying squares to t'gallants on fore and main. Insane!
Mirones
you mean this?
CrossedAnchors_and_Harpoon
Even crazier, because we're talking about shake draft, Chesapeake bay built schooners with complete bonkers rigs like this one.
maturin
The key to survival was that they could strike it all so fast our heads would spin to see it. Had Pride I been sailing with a real crew of privateers that day, she would have had topmasts and guns struck and half the canvas flying. Would probably be afloat today. CrossedAnchors_and_Harpoon
She was only flying a double reefed main and reefed staysail. It's not like she had a ton of canvass in the wind.
Robert Danforth
The Privateer Lynx reproduction ship should have copies of the original plans. They're a great group of folks (I've sailed on it, in fact), so I'm sure they'd love to help/
