  1. I was in the Army for a little bit of time (22 years) and what I have been doing is naming the units for Bdes I was assigned through my career like the 173rd Inf, 325th Regiment, etc.
  2. There are 24 pounders smooth bore ... you get them at the armory or by expending reputation.... they are gold in color. They might be howitzers. Now you have 10 pounder parrots and 10 pounder rifle gun. There are also some 20 pounder parrots, and I have only 6 in the armory and like 4 more to buy, not enough to fill a battery. One thing though the Napoleon and the 24 pounders are the same color.
  3. I have read some comments here and most of them indicate that the 24 pounders are the best, especially at close range. I have only one battery of them 16 guns in total and after the battle is over, easily they rack over 2000 kills. Most of my batteries are 12 Napoleons with 14 to 16 guns per. A few howitzers batteries and 2 batteries of 10 pounder parrots with 20 guns. But the 24 pounders there is just not enough guns available.
  4. I will keep that in mind for when I start my next campaing....
  5. That is true, since these are veteran units and reinforcing them with rookies, you loose a lot of the veterancy....but the veterans cost too much, even with Army training and economy maxed out.... thanks.
  6. Thanks Draluigi, then I must be missing something, because when I am reinforcing an existing bde with its officer intact, I am paying a lot of money. For example I reinforced one of my 3 stars units to 1500 men with CS Richmonds (the unit had a manpower after the battle of 1030) and in the Armory I had over 1000 CS Richmond available. I end up paying over $20K for just reinforcing that unit. I had other cases in which I paid more than that. Conversely, I can reinforce an existing Bde of 1 or 2 start with say M 1855 or Entfeld 1943 to 2000 men and pay less. either I am doing something wrong or I might have a corrupted file somewhere because I am paying too much, in my opinion.
  7. Guys, I have a question, How do you reinforce your Bdes? Can you merge units from one corp to another? Say you have multiple 3 star units in one corp and want to merge then to the max size, what happened to the rest of that Bde that cannot merge with the other due to the unit limit size? I am about to start this same battle as the CSA, have 3 Corps with a roughly overall strength close to 70K but you can only have 2 on this battle.
  8. Gentlemen, Good morning or good day depending on which part of the world you are. I just have a question or maybe need some clarification. I have been playing the game for a little while now and everytime a major upgrade comes up, I start again. But what I have notice is that when you are on the Camp screen and you want to create a new Bde on the initial stages of the game, both the recruits and the guns if you have them on the pool they cost either very little or nothing at all, as long as you have the exact number of guns or more to equipped that new Bde. Now as the game progresses that is not the case. For example, I just finished Gettysburg as the CSA and capture over 5K Springfields 1861s. I outfitted some of my 3stars Bde with then since their manpower is at 1,500 men. Those units were at just over the 1,000 men per Bde. So I increase their number to 1,500 and changed the rifles to the Springfields, which I had on the Armory and still had to pay for the men and the guns. Maybe I am miss-understanding something, but if you have the men and have the guns, shouldn't you have to either pay less or nothing until you go over the number of guns in your Arms room? If you exceed that number and want more, that is where you should start paying, Am I right? Or I am way off.... the thing is that I have check some videos and I see some guys with Bde at full strength and I can barely manage to get the units on my 3 Corps pass the 1,500 men strength. I do have some 1 star and 2 star units that I do get to max strength, but my best units, there is no way.
  9. I agree with Ladron, even under the most realistic of circumstances, if there is no overnight battle, units got to rest and re-supply at least. Maybe say 80% or 90% of your units get their morale and condition to 100% and full supply and the other 10% say bring their morale/supply to 100% as these units were on "guard mode" and their condition to at least 80%.
  10. It is part of learning the game and having fun .... being there myself. Tschuss!
  11. Hi Bobby, yes it's a new campaing with ver 0.90 on Colonel Level. The prize money is almost half a Million but is not enough to refit all my units to full strength. L plan the next campaing on BG level.
  12. Well I finished Antietam .. what a blood bath, I started with 61K CS troops against almost 73K Union troops. In the end, I lost 17,324 troops and the Union lost 40,835. Now, is refitting time, I have over 51K recruits but money is going to be short.
  13. I started with 61K troops, don't know against how many, but here is what I have done so far.... I placed my second corp on the woods around the church with reinforcement behind them, so I cover that whole wooded area. Then my 4 batteries of arty behind them close but not too close. Then when the map opens up and show you the second point I took a division and move it to cover the brige, that is 3x bdes inf and 2x arty and set up an ambush....it worked like a charm. The town and final phase open up and that is where I am at, Basically there are 2 points they will cross, so I moved troops to those points to set up another ambush. But here is more difficult as there is more terrain and they can fire arty at me ... will see
  14. I am playing just like you as the CSA and about to start Antietam. I believe that the number of troops you see are for the overall war, not just your campaign. So we see how I do, and number wise, I have around 55K troops.
  15. Like Cpt K said, I am enjoying the heck out this game. I started a new campaing as CS on Colonel lvl and one thing I have notice through 2nd Manasas so far. The report system is awesome as it gives you a little behind the lines insight. But through every battle so far both minor and major the Union keeps receiving soldiers and the overall army strength keeps increasing. Do not know if it is design that way to give us a picture of the overall Union army strength and not necessarily what you will be facing. So far, their Army size has remain less than mine and I assume that is a result of my victories. Again so far on almost all of the battles, the union has a 2 to 1 loss of men, and in some cases, 3 to 1, but is not the rule. Their training and weapons it is around 20 - 23% so far and also seems to be slowly increasing. The one thing that might need some tweaking is the money after every battle or the option to trade capture soldiers for money. I have a pool of around 31K soldiers to fill my Bdes, but I don't have enough money to do that. as of right now, I only have 3 coprs with 3 divisions of 4 brigades each. The max soldires per division is 2K and my training and politics are set at 9 with economy on 4.
  16. That is a great idea and one that many of us would pay to have.
  17. A.P.Hill, I am playing as the CS on a new campaing ... got to the 1st Manasas and had no issues.....had a deceisive victory with over 5K prisoners..... I am about to start Shiloh
  18. I will continue to watch your posting and videos ... and I hate movings... 22 years in the Army I moved a few times ...but mostly within europe
  19. I am pretty much the same like you .... A.P.Hill.. I have started as the CS and the latest as the Union. I guess a new start is in order, the question is, which side will I play.....
  20. In that case, I will finish Gettysburg and the start new. I love this game, can't get enough...
  21. Thanks Sterner... I did not notice the comment at the bottom of the blog suggesting just that. Oh well, I will start new campaing (I am currently on the last day of Gettysburg as the union).
  22. Awesome....but if the Fixed strength is obsolete and has been removed, what will happened to current ongoing campaign if the player selected the fix strength option? Will a restart necessary or the system will adjust from that point? Also, will it affect a battle in-progress? Thanks for the work.
  23. that part of that battle is simply a bear to do... does not matter which way you try to do it, you will loose a lot of men just breaking past their initial defensive positions... I tried the center, the right until finally, on a fresh start broke through on the left side of the map, close to the last objective telegraph road ... but it hurt my two front line bdes .... and you are correct, there are a lot more skilled people on this forum. I like their pointers but in the end, is just plain fun and addictive game. Will see how this end up.
