  1. I just posted on this in another thread. I got caught when I bought a ship in one of my three ports then found I could not afford the guns and could not TP out to pick up my cutter (on the other side of the map) because I now have 6 ships in 3 ports. So I must sail without guns to one of my other ports to get rid a ship or pick up my basic cutter so I can grind again to get guns. Luckily I had enough money to buy crew to get the minimum number or I would have been stuck in port unable sail or TP.
  2. The protractor needs a better compass. I used it to sail from Port Morant to Kingston (Windward Islands). Despite best efforts to line up with the mark on the compass I still ended up far South of the target and had to use F11 coordinates to correct my course.
  3. Before coordinates we used F11, I seem to recall and would do so again if they were removed. I would not like to try and navigate to Flatts without them.
  4. There are many but a few spring to mind. Accidentally sinking a team member in storm battle during Sea Trails. The weather was so bad he could not tell who did it and I never confessed (I think it was Tommy Shelby). The endless SLRN versus Danes in early OW. Some we won, some we lost but always a good fight. When the DEVS prohibited carronades on big ships but forgot that existing ships fitted this way still had them. My Bellona's suddenly became dreadnoughts. More recently the guy who tagged me in a bigger ship and relentlessly chased me after I was badly damaged forcing me eventually to turn to meet my certain end. But on his last broadside he got stuck in the wind and I caught fire, allowing me to get alongside and watch (gleefully) as he too caught fire so that he could not escape thus allowing me to blow up killing his crew.
  5. Let me understand. After wipe we could start in another nation before we claim redeemable xp. Or is this an additional feature we can use to change nation after we claim redeemable for instance if after a few weeks the balance of players was way out?
  6. Forgive me if I have missed the thread, what is the Nations Change feature?
  7. Northern Wolves has identified the issue. I live in the Far East and have always had dreadful pings but the game is playable. However, until final release when we hopefully will have vastly increased numbers, its more about not splitting the player base and retaining numbers. At present we barely have enough players to make the game entertaining. Add to this (potentially) no teleporting and a host of other features that will slow the game down further, and I am more concerned that we will lose the remaining player base. It does not matter to me which server I play on and the timing of port battles and dominating the map. What does matter is that I wont spend hours waiting for action whilst being forced to endlessly fight AI just to keep busy and rank up (again). So whereas a server split may make sense at some future time, at present, its just going to cripple the game. Just look at the numbers that have dropped out. Many of these people (I know) had several 1000s of hours game play under their belts and loved the game. So its not about burn out or tiring and switching to new games. Its about lack of incentive to keep logging in.
  8. Yes grape can (maturin) after considerable damage. It was a surprise when it slowly capsized, but what beautiful graphics. I take my hat off to the devs for creating such stunning scenes.
  9. This is a no risk method for defeating a 1st rate with a light frigate. Step 1. Find an AI first rate whose crew are drunk. Step 2. Initiate battle close to shore and wait for them to run aground. Step 3. Wait until crew and ship get tired and roll over for a sleep Step 4. Sneak around and shoot holes in the bottom of the hull followed by grape. Step 5. When crew are dead board. Step 6. Smugly pose for screenshots with your trophy.
  10. This situation still continues. It can take 20 minutes or to log in. Eventually If I repeat and persevere I will get past the player selection screen. Because I live in the far east my ping is usually around 215 ms. Once in the game this does not appear to effect my game play. But for some reason its painfully slow to get into the game at the start.
  11. I am unable to enter PVP1 EU. On logging in I can only get as far as the player selection screen and it hangs after this and I have to go to task manager to get out of this screen. But I can I can access PVE and other server okay. Player name Eric Shun
  12. As I have stated several times along with frequent F11's, in my case its not a connectivity issue. My ping to your server is consistent with no packet loss. But I still I have a 90 second delay upon battle commencement and frequent disconnects. This was not always the case. It only began in the last month. Please offer some suggestions.
  13. I still have long lags and occasional disconnects during battle. Whereas before they often occurred during the period after initiating boarding (prep timer screen) now they more often occur at the start of the battle where all the ships are on top of my ship for about 60 to 90 seconds or randomly at any time in the battle. When I ping your server I have response times of about 220 which is typical for my location indicating that its not a transmission issue. I continue to F11 this issue under my game name Eric Shun Regards
  14. Assuming I understand this right, what happens if you run out of provisions? Do you lose crew? Does loading excess provisions have any downside?
  15. In general I do like the sound of these proposals. It should add depth. I share the concerns about partially crewed ships being attacked immediately after they exit battles, this happens all the time. So perhaps a mechanic could be introduced whereby crews from sunken ships are picked up and are distributed amongst the fleet or even physically picked up by sailing to the site of the sunken ship and collecting them. Sailing a captured ship back will I assume be like the current fleet feature. However I would suggest that you can abandon a slow captured ship if you are being chased.
  16. Further to my post above. I had a severe lag during a battle instance and tested the ping to your server as it was happening. I should add I tested the ping from a separate PC using the same connection that I use to run teamspeak. During the lag graphics appeared to work (although vessels could sail through on another), rudder, guns and sails totally unresponsive. The results of the ping were Min 220, max 222 av 220 zero lost. This was much the same as my ping test before the battle instance. I posted an F11 report a minute or two later under my in game name Eric Shun Regards
  17. My ping appears variable and this makes the current boarding mechanic a matter of luck. We would be better with a system that was independent of response time in my opinion.
  18. I like the high sail damage using chain, it feels intuitively correct that sails can easily be wrecked. However perhaps the range of chain is currently a little too high? Is this based on historical data?
  19. I am experiencing the same problems. The worst is after commencing boarding. After the preparation for boarding screen is complete there is a lag of several minutes during which time I am unable to do anything. I had suspected the problem was at my end so yesterday I tested the connection during this lag and found that the connection was fine. I F11'd two instances when this was in progress. Also I get the long pings sometimes upon start up, slow responses during port activities/crafting and occasional complete disconnects. Note my in-game name is Eric Shun.
  20. This is what will happen based on recent history. The largest factions or alliances will predominate and persecute smaller factions to extinction. After all its great fun to win but its not much fun to get crushed day after day. I have no confidence in the player-run society to act reasonably. Whatever diplomacy mechanic is put in place there has to be a higher authority that can overturn nations/alliances if they get to a point that smaller nations are being destroyed. I have no confidence at all in the proposed system if there is no oversight.
  21. 1. Yes except connie rather tough (maybe historical who am I to say) 2. Getting used to it and think ultimately it will be an improvement. 3. Marines I don't have a particular issue with marines but I second the comments from above that some of the other options (grenades, muskets, deck guns) appear relatively ineffective compared to attack/defend. Plus in my geographical location I have poor and variable lag and this gives me a disadvantage in last minute change tactic in the current boarding mode.
  22. In answer to the above, important topics need to be voiced as often as is necessary to attract attention not buried forever in old threads.
  23. I have fought most of the clans at some time or other. And although SORRY undoubtedly are very competent I don't see them as possessing substantially superior skills than many other clans. However, what does distinguish SORRY from the others is the unrelenting chat abuse that I have witnessed during combat and the subsequent bragging on forum. Whereas I am certain most of the SORRY players are normal people simply enjoying the game, the few that participate the above behavior simply come across as being toxic and do great damage to both the reputation of their clan and indeed the game.
  24. Unfortunately I think this will lead to the biggest nations led by the most aggressive people of those nations forming alliances to seal club the smaller nations.
