Thank you , however she is not a brig (three masted ships rig) small frigate or corvette
BungeeLemming
She will be a very interesting ship. Lesser guns but greater caliber could make her fit very well into the >=200 men ships. (Master & Commander rank) She kinda looks like a smaller brother to the Cerberus judging from her design. Did she mount svivel guns btw?
ragnar hairy trousers
there are no swivel mounts on the plans but she may well have done.. she is actually slightly larger than the Cerberus but not a great deal larger and she seems to have provision for bow chasers . Sella
According to threedecks she carried swivels The problem now is where do you place them on the model.Well,if you do... Edited March 9, 2016 by Sella22
ragnar hairy trousers
how reliable is this information? i dont see how swivels can be mounted on the gun deck then again the bullwalk isnt that high in the waist
Sella
Well these are the sources. I wish i could help you on this but i can't
ragnar hairy trousers
I thank you sella... it does make sense indeed! for such a large 28 gun vessel she has very low bullwalks in the waist ( little protection for the crew).

I am eager to know since my own model is at that exact point. And I wonder about a thing or two. Also I like looking at screenshots

maturin
Daaaang. That is the best era of naval architecture, IMHO.
Malachi
Aesthetically for sure. The Continental Navy had some really beautiful ships (Confederacy, Hancock, Virgina), the prize for the most elegant frigates built in the 1770s/80s goes to the danish Perlen and Christiania imo, though. Closely followed by the british ship-sloops based on the Amazon and the american Hancock. OT: very nice job, ragnar, keep the pictures coming! ragnar hairy trousers
I agree that the early American frigates were beautiful , and all very different from one another the US navy had not decided upon a style of its own so their designs vary greatly between the ships... Virginia while a war ship reminds me of a merchant man for some reason (im not sure why).... as for most elegant frigates my personal favorite is HMS Minerva 1780......
