News update - April 25th changelog

Hi all

 

New build has been released to testers. 

 

All the efforts and focus is on the FPS and memory optimization - this is big chunk of work and will not get into playable and it takes us away from adding lots of gameplay features.

 

Game play tuning

  1. Large cannons damage was increased (24/32/42 lb cannons and carronades)
  2. Lowered crew damage even further
  3. Increased penalties for crew casualties (systems are now basic and will be expanded in the future)
  4. Increased penalties for ships taking lots of water into hull
  5. It is now much easier to damage cannons (especially during raking fire)
  6. Ships now take water a bit more realistically visually (of course not final yet)
  7. Fix certain bugs which appeared when ships were taking water
  8. Lowered cannons repaired during battle - it is now possible to be taken out of combat completely without you sinking.
  9. Changed ships speeds turning a bit (mostly light frigates)
  10. Increased demasting chances a bit
  11. 74 added for testing and tuning - but beware. that is an old model so it is less beautiful than latest ships. It will be reworked later.
  12. Fixed long loading times bug finally

In the next couple of weeks we plan

  1. fully finish sailing mechanics by improving wind effects turning and drifting
  2. significantly improve and rework some of the damage mechanics - that we started to add gradually by adding leaks
  3. add surrender mechanic
  4. test more ships and improve balance between 1st 3rd 5th rates
  5. merge open world systems with new gameplay mechanics

Again as usual. You can safely expect new bugs and problems to appear. Please ignore them until release version.

Fairly new to the forums here and in general NA but it looks as thought you guys have gotten a fair bit done since the last update. Good job guys! :)

I know of a few players looking for an invite but may be counter productive to keep revisiting the learning curve of the testers. Would be nice to see more ship content to be tested.
