Port Battles aka PvP Events

Why are port battles so popular? Because they guarantee PvP and action. To enhance this I propose the following:

1 hour before to 30 mins after the PB starts there is a PvP event area drawn around the port (circle).

For each battle which starts in this time frame you get: 

1,5x Gold

1,5x XP

 

What does this do?

PBs will be a hotspot of PvP for all nations, not just the attacking and defending nation.

Sideeffect: Screening doesnt feel so much like griefing anymore, because you still cant enter PB after you got screened but at least you get better rewards if you win the fight.

 

This does not count for neutral PBs.

 

Biggest problem is you come online and theres nothing to do so we need some kind of events to enable playersto do something and to find a fight after a reasonable amount of time.

But you already get 2.5x xp and 2.5x gold for pvp 
Captains can arrive to areas around active port battles and claim those high rewards...

Agreed, but perhaps a visual indicator on the map and a few more Free towns dotted around so ppl can actually jump from theatre to theatre..

It is allready a bit like you propose when it is a slow port battle night. You see most nations gathering around the port for the PB some for helping to screen and others just to get some PVP action and sometimes the nation that comes to screen for you turns against you because there wasnt too much PVP around.

Getting into a PB can be a challenge sometimes dodging all nations.

I would like to see some change as well to the port battles but at the moment cant really see how. And because of the scarcity of OW PvP except for some spots on the map the PB will still act as a PvP magnet at the moment

You are right. Combined with PvP marks the rewards are good enough.

But still the problem persists. I log on and if there is no PB for us or no people online willing to fight 3x BR infront of enemy capital there is not much to do.

I think PBs are too organized and screening happens in big ships. So its hard to sail there alone and hope to join a fight in a big ship.

I want to sail somewhere and have a decent chance to join a random fight, to even the odds. I dont like solo PvP.

Any chance something like the old PvP event with 6vs6 maximum will return at some point or was it a failure?

Good idea that could be implemented for PB's suggestion event :

1 Hostility flag is purchased by a "clan leader" ==> event & port target publicly displayed, flag life countdown of 120 min (flag useless afterwards) ==> local PVP tension.

When hostility flag is successfuly planted ==> a large PVP zone appears around the port untill end of event.

  • next server day, PB n°1 event is opened for 60 min from first attacking ship entry (Server window = from 7PM to 10PM) ==> local PVP tension (PB fleet must reach PB)
  • following server day, PB n°2 event is opened for 60 min from first attacking ship entry (Server window = from 3AM to 6AM) ==> local PVP tension (PB fleet must reach PB)
  • Event ends at the end of this second server day, results & rewards after maintenance.  

PB event result ==> after calculation of Total A+B+C (Forts & towers out of calculation)

  • A. ratio of BR & kills of PB n°1 
  • B. ratio of BR & kills of PB n°2
  • C. ratio of BR & kills in PVP zone.

note: as today, only friendly clans can entered PB's (flag clan & port clan), while in PVP zone the calculation includes all players belonging to the 2 belligerent factions. This means that the PVP zone exclude any tags or battles participation from other faction players.

New features involved:  New PVP zone associated to PB's events, end of port timers, end of PB circles points but PB theater is a restricted by a large circle, hostility flags are back with high cost of PVP marks.

 

Potential new feature implementation: Raid flags ==> Short time PVP events, when raid flag is planted by a clan the event open instantly for 120 min, it is publicly displayed. Depending where is located the raid zone it will only include all players belonging to flag faction against territory faction, the raid zone excludes any tags or battles participation from other faction players. same calculation of ratio BR/kills per battle in the raid zone will give double PVP marks to winner sides.  

note: Raid flags with high cost of PVP marks.
