A quick list of Pennants would allow you to search it and I'm sure theyd be known very quickly... well, if devs would have really wanted to keep OS information "period style" we could not tell the name of the captain nor his rank from a couple of miles away as it is now, so your idea is very nice, but maybe it appears more "practical" (and easier in terms of encoding it) just adding the indication of the org/clan to the tab that shows up when we click on ship in OS.
