  1. Thanks for clearing this up Raatha, it will be especially important to the gentlemen who let their beaten opponent go. It also allows us to perform training matches with less cost attributed to them. I haven't seen or heard of the current system being exploited for damage farming yet. Let's see what actually happens! In order not to derail the thread any further, Brandon allow me to post the direct links to your battle vids from last night: 1st fight 20vs20 USA,France vs. Dutch, Danes, British, Pirates, Spanish: (fast forward the first 2 minutes) 2nd fight 14vs14 USA,France vs. Dutch, Danes, British, Pirates, Spanish: (fast forward the first 6 minutes) Sweden was in fact the only faction not present. The set up took too long and will be greatly improved for the next battle, next weekend.
  2. The first battle featured 40 players in total. The second one just finished with 28 players. Be part of the action and sign up in the excel sheet. Footage will be made available here. All information can be found in the original post! Thank you all for showing up!
  3. Battle starts in about one hour. Join this teamspeak server for the battle, no password: na.lynixgaming.com
  4. @Battle duration: It remains to be seen how long the first fight will take, I like to see this in positive light, we will be able to test the current repair mechanic under circumstances they have not been testedy yet. There have not been many big fleet engagements after sea trials. So I am curious how this will play out. We are prepared and will adapt to contingencies! @Cpt. Office, don't worry, we have one rule for that. In case we are too many, smaller ships will have a seperate engagement, which will be more involving and rewarding for them anyways. Tonight the slaughter shall be quite relaxed. Everyone participating will meet on the teamspeak server: na.lynixgaming.com there is no password. Be early!
  5. Concerning death, durabilities and what ships to bring: It is your choice! Surrendering or not, it is up to you as it is a current game mechanic and I guess we will put it to the test tomorrow! Bring a five or one durability ship. Bring a ship with one module slot or five, again it is up to you because we do not want to exclude people based on the vessels they can bring - unless they are small and we are too many! Quite a number of us saved up money and their best ships just for such an opportunity. Others dread the risk and unpredictability of fleet fights and bring captured ships or common ships from the market. I am guessing that we will have a good mix of vessels on all sides and it remains to be seen how important the mods are in the thick of such a massive engagement!
  6. @Johnny Reb As Booyaah said: We will be doing this for a while, as people come online they can join later battles. We are used to some fluctuation amongst those who attend. @Sinking&death: This will be a real battle, ships will be captured and sunk. In the first battles we let people go as they yielded, so we could increase the number of consecutive battles and decrease the amount of downtime. This also allowed us to try and test some weird stuff. This time however everyone has had the opportunity to save up for the battle, maybe even using throwaway ships, so they are not afraid of potential loss.
  7. Ruleset for now: Start at 2200 CET sharp, west of Plymouth. No AI fleets. No latecomers. No BS. No fighting the AI on the way or between participants at the site of battle until we start. Nations will be assigned and balanced by the organisers. Nations pick representatives for the battle, amongst them the two fleet admirals are choosen. Both fleets will set themselves up in parallel lines downwind in the open world. In case we have too many players, the smallest ships will have a seperate engagment. Sign ups have priority: https://goo.gl/Tf6GBf The battle will be recorded and uploaded. We will reserve spots for streamers like Brandonchat. The battle is organised by a team, currently that is Booyaah, Steelsandwich and me, who will decide last minute arrangements. Respect each other and use common sense! Anyone is welcome who can adhere to these rules. There will be a teamspeak server for each team. We will fight until one side is eliminated and start the next battle afterwards.
  8. Mark saturday the 18th, 2200 CET in your calendars. There will be news about the next battle soon. It will be bigger, it will be deadlier, it will be multinationaler We are in the process of hammering out the details. In the meantime, sign up in the excel sheet in the OP and motivate your guild and friends to join up as well!
  9. Blackjack, it is quite simple. The language directly targets you as a person and your dignity. The ganking targets your ship and you only suffer indirectly depending on what you make of such a loss. The current ways to block communications individually by each player's choice are great and they are working. Why consider a flat ban on cross nation talk? We are one big community and just because someone sails under a different flag doesnt mean he is my enemy or that I cannot be on good terms with the player. We don't strive t the level of any of those other MMOs and their defeatist approach to player interaction. A community can be respectful and friendly. Individuals who cannot be, are dealt with individually.
  10. Been busy last weekend Booyaah, so I asked for a reschedule. I suggested Saturday the 11th for exactly that reason, so we can bring together all timeszones into one battle. I really like you sign up sheet, thanks! We had a real good time when we set up a string of three battles last friday between Dutch, Danes and French. I asked Brandon to post some footage here
  11. Best wishes to you and your family Cuningham! Best stop slacking now and get back to work, there are still a few hours of good sunlight left!
  12. Thanks Booyaah. Now get your leadership to back it and it is a done deal. I have been nagging people individually for weeks now, I assure you that there is quite the demand for it. Plymouth being close to everyone's capital (besides the US) is a great and accessible location to do it. This weekend we have set something up already. So let me get back to you later.
  13. Godspeed to you gentlemen! You have gathered a fine lot and I am looking forward to exchange tender broadsides tonight
Her damit!
  16. Ich wünsche euch gutes Gelingen! Ist der ein oder andere hier schon in der OW unterwegs? Ich segel momentan für Frankreich.
  17. I dont like sealing the combat instances, but if it has to happen in order to open the battles to more nations, then only after some reasonable time like 10 minutes. I like Jeef's idea. A new faction arriving shouldn't be teleported right into the action but be placed further away from the original contestants to allow for some on the spot diplomacy and time for everyone to reasess the situation and react accordingly. The issue with the prizes can be solved if they get manned by a skeleleton crew and start sailing out of the battle, maybe disapearing after some time if noone is close / fires at them.
  18. NA-France / French / 20 / aphrodite.ts3-serveur.com:20244 / this TS is password protected, not useable for me, does anyone know the pw? The ofter french TS, Simu-France is void of players most of the time. French players, Neverlucky, lets meet on the Admirality for now, its strangely deserted but widely known.
  19. Definitely both. I just didnt buy any ships in SC since working one's way up in such a game is part of the experience
  20. A most excellent essay on the subject, Mr. Doran. At first the terminology was a bit alien to me - escpecially the term meta, which I associate with out of game activities to influence ingame events - but your conclusions and recommendations are clear enough! Thank you kindly for the dropbox link!
