  1. I don't believe Nimitz was there to greif DarkSilver and Shoklar. But let's say he was. The correct process that was set up to deal with unwanted behaviour is to create a tribunal topic, not green-on-green damage. The rules do exist, they were put in place in order to avoid meaningless violence spirals and to cut unwanted behaviour of players. In this case, I judge what I see. I see green on green damage, I vote for warning and in case of repeated breach, reset of xp progress. If you feel you were griefed, please create another thred implicating Nimitz, at least with a chatlog transcript of the events, ideally with a similiar video.
  2. Au contraire Monsier! I would have a problem with being mistaken for one.
  3. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/2346-forum-and-sea-trials-rules/#entry146607 Calling someone a "moist twat" is clearly breach of no.1, 3. and 5. Week of not being able to use chat to cool down is everything that is needed in this case.
  4. I'd say chatban. Also was for some reason not possible to report through in game system?
  5. Dismissing these as silly overly simplifies the issue. These laws were enacted as a response to horrors of World War that were suffered by population of most European countries. Seeing the whole coming to power of Nazi party using unlimited free speech, setting themselves as far apart from the disgusting regimes that may have taken hold in those countries during the war and honoring the victims of war. These laws were found to be not breaching human rights and right to the free speech by a multitude of European courts. Discussion, whether they still have place in legal systems of European countries is slowly taking place, but such discussion is to be left to the citizen of said countries. Dismissing them as silly without the realization of further context of their adoption is ignorant at least. And yep, Fluffybunny is the way to go here....
  6. On the second thought ban might be too harsh. Forcing name like FluffyBunny for a month or two might be actually better...
  7. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/2346-forum-and-sea-trials-rules/#entry146607 Post no. 3. Whether it is a prohibited name is to be judged by devs. Using nazi ranks might constitute a criminal offence in several European countries, with also a possibility of a dev being subject to criminal proceedings for not reacting to such a name. However I don't know devs' jurisdiction and in the end the decision is up to them, i only offered my opinion based on my personal views...
  8. We really don't... 15 day ban and force the name change... Also, wasnt it possible to report him in game?
  9. I am having serious flashbacks to Sea Trials now. "Duel anyone?"
  10. In history, largers ships spend hours blasting each other and in the end, usually did not sink at all. French ship of the line Vengeur du Peuple did sink only after being blasted for four hours nonstop by a similiar ship and being helped by other. Trafalgar lasted 5 hours of pretty much nonstop shooting by all ships. It is just quite difficult to actually sink something that has tendency to naturally float, therefore historically most cases were decided by boarding or by surrender (when captain decided that he cannot win and that he will not risk his and his crew's life).
  11. Pleased to make your acquaintance. Please follow the link in my signature, register at our forums, peruse them and provide the requested information. In case you have any questions regarding the group, please send me a private message.
  12. I would like to see that, however I am quite sceptical. The game is too high quality for one of his typical EA bash the game episodes. On the other hand the game is too complex for him to grasp, if he was going to do only a one episode.
  13. 2 nd most sold game on Steam. Impressive...
  14. Capitaines! If you are looking for an English speaking society sailing under French colors, do not hesitate and follow links below! Marek
  15. Of course good, sir, I will also be able to start playing again approximately at the same time. In the meantime, you can peruse SLMFR forums.
  16. You can write me a message here, if you have trouble using SLVF forums. Please include the details, as you would in normal application. Looking forward to your message.
  17. Sorry for the late reply, I was swamped at work and the christmas and stuff, but it is as De Vance said. There are no hard requirements. The data requests and the process of joining serves to give us a picture of what kind of a gamer you are, whether you prefer light role-play experience or not. Couple of private messages the process entices also serves to screen out total assholes. Since we are small and mostly not formal we don't have requirements as other groups in Naval action. In regards to the nature of play of this group it is more casual than otherwise. If you guys have any further questions, please write me a message. Marek
  18. The Pomone is noted that at the capture she had 24 pounders, however she went refit in 1801. Wikipedia states that during this refit, she was downgunned to 18 pounders, however, I was not yet able to find more solid evidence.
  19. Just as a note on putting heavy armament on frigates, it was more difficult to make it work then expected. Out of 3 French frigate classes that were designed to carry 24 livre guns, Vengeance, Forte and Romaine classes, only Forte class kept 24 livre guns throught their carreers. Others were deemed to be better at their job as frigates with 18 livre guns and thus were rearmed.
  20. I believe we have misunderstood each other. What I meant in my proposal was basically to have 2 separate crew values and that being available crew and required crew. Available crew is based on the hull of the ship, installed mods, reputation of the captain. So for USS Constitution it would be 450 as hull based crew + x% as modifiers. Required crew would be determined by the number and type of guns, as I described in my original post. In game it would translate into, even if you managed to cram 500 men as your crew and yet would choose the heaviest armament (long 18s on spar deck), you still would suffer penalties, since you would require more men than you have available. I believe this isn't gamey, as the guns were the reason for numerous crews of warships compared to merchant ships. For example French ship Duquesne (74) when running from Cap Francaise with only 215 able men was able to run away, however when RN caught up, she was able to only fight 12 guns of her 36-livre battery and no other guns.
  21. Bucentaure is a perfectly good name. It is a name of a leading ship of its class. She was named Bucentaure to spite the recently conquered Venice. She was Latouche Treville's flagship. She was mauled and captured at Trafalgar, but nevertheless rose up against the prize crew. The story of the mutiny on the captured ship epitomizes French navy of the period. Although losing, always defiant and always ready to challenge "boasting britain".
  22. Sadly, I was not able to find historical penetration comparison, so I mostly used the amount of charge that was loaded to the carronade When I compared historical powder charges for different weights of carronades from this site http://www.thenrg.org/resources/articles/The%20carronade.pdfI found that the charges do not increase proportionally. Also here https://books.google.sk/books?id=F4hHAQAAIAAJ&pg=PA790&lpg=PA790&dq=powder+charge+for+42+pounder+gun&source=bl&ots=K3lbVBIv16&sig=-tHeQ-Vvnbby6Sn0lgnIKUpHEc4&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCcQ6AEwAmoVChMIusvl3bP7yAIVE4YaCh3NvQYQ#v=onepage&q=powder%20charge%20for%2042%20pounder%20gun&f=false I have also found smoothbore ballistics calculatore, which i am not able to run for some reason here> http://arc.id.au/CannonBallistics.html My assumptions might a be a case of wishful thinking though, as I am really convinced that lower penetration of higher weight carronades would be beneficial.
