  1. For the record I don't care that there's going to be an EU and a global server, but it seems a bit preposterous you're asking people to join EU server and join an RvR nation during which they might not be able to RvR due to PB time slots. As such, if I join EU server I will be forced to join pirates where I won't have to care about RvR.
  2. No, but it will be a big thorn in the side of sea rovers who also do their own crafting, enough so that they will likely not do it anymore. Sail hours to a freeport deep in enemy territory to do your privateering, then be unable TP back to do crafting. Meanwhile, every coward who is not daring enough to go deep in enemy territory will be TP-ing around willy-nilly, using their magical forms of communications to have their friends magically TP to nearby ports and use their magical GPS to gank said privateer after they actually manage to catch someone. Sounds to me like that style of gameplay will be dead.
  3. Agree 100%. Dev should stick to their guns and finish what they started with this patch.
  4. If a trader is sailing solo and gets caught by an enemy privateer, I see no reason why the trader's allies should have magical GPS and magical teleports to bring their buddies to wait outside. Generally I don't like this idea because it is heavy skewed against the pirate/privateer game style, which purportedly is one of the reasons why devs are pushing more targets to the OW in the first place. Either no teleports for everyone, or teleports with a cool down.
  5. In lieu of getting a complete reworked ship boarding system, how about just removing the text field which shows your opponent's upcoming action? Boarding is basically a ping-riddled-last-minute-order-submission-and-counter game, where as it should be a game of anticipation and out thinking your opponent. If you simply hide the text that says that your opponent is "Bracing", then you don't have 100% knowledge to last millisecond change your own order to "Attack". You will still have the complete battle log, so you can review your opponent's previous actions to look for patterns and anticipate upcoming orders. This will also inherently slow down boarding without actually making it take longer, because you will have the entire 8 seconds or whatever to plan your move and not the last 50ms to twitch click the right counter.
  6. Agree with removal of GPS; makes perfect sense with the recent direction of changes. [edit] I would be fine with showing the GPS coords calculated at the last high noon, which is when such calculations would traditionally take place [/edit]
  7. I am heavily considering returning to France after the wipe. If I do, then I look forward to sailing with y'all.
  8. yes, i didn't post them chronologically here, but some of my first ships had some critical problems. if you want to see them in order you'd need to look on reddit. i'll keep practicing
  9. i hope they enjoy it! i've watched plenty of bob, but never got the wife and kids into it.
  10. I've never found it to be accurate when trying to find existing stock at ports. I for one would welcome a global access to auction houses; maybe even make it a captain perk like POTBS did.
  11. With alliances gone, it will be much easier to find pvp closer to home. when I started the game (before alliances, before teleports) I started french and enemy waters were always within an easy sail from home.
  12. i would consider it that maybe 0.1% of new players would sail 2 hours out of their way to go pvp-ing. and for those that have the nads to do so, its still poor planning on their part to sail 2 hours away to pvp with one, 1 dura ship.
  13. i assume they are trying to combat econ alts in different nations producing resources in enemy ports; econ alts in the same nation can still trade through chat mechanics.
  14. I'll weigh in and say I'm fine with all of the updated changes in the OP. I like the lack of communication in-game with the enemy. I really like how potbs did it originally (in beta, chat was global but you could not speak the language of the other nations (they showed up in the chat as gibberish). your captain could learn to speak other languages as an equivalent to a NA perk). This allows folks to opt-in to the diplomat role if they chose, and obfuscated the majority of the player base from random trolling.
  15. you do it in an out of the way port, and you buy up the existing stock if it exists and then transfer your big load cheap. same problem potbs had. as far as being able to track it retroactively in order for you to identify alts, I think that's a good idea.
  16. you still won't know this under the new system; the old "mods" will now be "ship skills" which you can set per experienced ship type before you leave port.
  17. do i read this right that under the new system one ship could have multiple region refits? or will this be coded to allow only one.
  18. this was highly dependent on the cargo type, and generally took time, effort and was extremely difficult to offload properly even when the ship is at anchor. offloading an entire load of live oak with the right click of a mouse is not realistic nor is it good gameplay.
  19. Oh my, I had missed these two when I made my first post. These are about a month old. Also, for those interested I've been posting everything to reddit, and you can see the complete history there (50+ paintings)
  20. Not selling any yet, just focusing on learning right now. cheers.
  21. No ships in these, but I thought folks might appreciate these none the less. I found Byron Pickering the other day, trying to learn what I can from him. The first is a derivative work off of his "Rock Study", the second in an original.
  22. did this today in the style of this world of painting youtube video
  23. Thanks for all the kind words! Here's another I did yesterday
