  1. More! All my paintings are now on Instagram
  2. Well, its been just over a year since i first picked up a paint brush and I'm still at it. Here's my latest: All my paintings are now on Instagram
  3. it means the written text in the game can be toggled to display in different languages.
  4. Like i said, there are many good ideas in this game whose implementation lacks finesse; thank you for listing some. We really shouldn't add more. And, no, all of the reasons i supplied are not immersion. As i said, if i'm a solo hunter or a trader out in the world minding my own business, there is no reason you should get a cheat to know approximately where i am.
  5. It's wrong on many levels: 1. Are you a wizard, Harry? Do you have access to spy satellites? That kind of direct information doesn't belong in an age of sail MMO. And before you ask, no i actually don't like that combat news is instantaneous; it was a good idea whose implementation lacks finesse, like most of the good ideas in this game. 2. What is appropriate for age of sail is news of big events being gossiped about and propagating over time. This is where the "combat news show on map for the last day" comes into play nicely, you should be able to here news that a big Indiaman was captured near portobello yesterday and the day before. This will allow for you, as a player, to look for trends and clues as to where the good places are to find action. 3. Why should you have any knowledge of my activities if i haven't done anything news-worthy? Maybe I've found the perfect solo hunting spot, hiding behind an island waiting to ambush a trader i've been monitoring for weeks. Maybe i'm just there grinding ship knowledge XP. Unless you are there looking at me or i've sunk a player, you shouldn't know anything.
  6. I think it would be a good compromise if combat news for the day was somehow represented on the map, and gets reset each day at maintenance. So maybe there is a visual representation of the amount of deaths that happened near that region. It would not be an immediate "oh there's a person here" (which i feel is wrong). It would reflect information that is already available if you just logged in and watched the combat news all day. And it would immediately show which areas of the map are seeing action on a daily basis and naturally draw players there over time.
  7. insta tow would bother me if privateering was actually still viable in this game, but as I sailed from one end of the Antilles to the other and never saw another player (let alone spending most of the time in one reinforcement zone or another where i couldn't attack a player even if i saw them) its the least of my worries atm
  8. Bring back tow ships, don't bring back tow ships, it really doesn't matter; every time I log on to NA and sail around for an hour and I don't see any other players i can attack.
  9. I don’t see this affecting me. I am already in an empty nation, next to other empty nations; what are more empty nations going to do?
  10. This is my version of "HMS Seaflower" by Geoff Hunt, used for the cover of the novel Seaflower by Julian Sockwin.
  11. In support of this, it would be interesting if the "cheaper" ports had different number of ship PBs; 6 ships, 12 ships, 25 ships, etc. A small war company could probably get really good at capturing cheap 6 man PB ports. No reason to limit them to shallow water.
  12. Less income ports which are less likely to have high defenses will be good targets for smaller war companies.
  13. You could just be able to enter the ports owned by your war company, you wouldn't gain access to all ports of said nation...
  14. I think the goal there would be that your "clan" is a collection of your friends, whereas a "war company" could be a collection of like-minded clans. This allows for lots of cool interactions, such as clans changing war companies because of disputes between other clans who make up said war company. I also like the idea of clans of other nations being able to join war companies. This allows for player made alliances out of the box, as well as all those mercenary company scenarios everyone brings up. Need some night flippers to help round out your war company, but all of your members are EU? Entice/hire/connive/whatever a clan from another timezone (regardless of their "nation") to join your war company.
  15. I like it! But as a player who would fit into the "solo pvper not part of a clan" population, even i'm not sold on the "being able to go into any port" idea; we should only be allowed access to free ports, national ports, and war company owned national ports IF the war company so allows it. We should be allowed outpost teleports to free ports, where as members of war companies are not.
  16. IMO the only thing that needs to change is crafting XP. For everything else the grind is less than MMOs i have played in the past. I have been playing solo France on Global since the wipe, never really ran out of money or ships. I have enough knowledge slots unlocked to be dangerous and don't feel pressured to unlock the others. Grinded some missions in the beginning, did a little trading. Been a lot of fun!
  17. I'm pretty sure the OP only concerns that the port is currently in 100% contention, and has nothing to do with the actual results of the port battle. The subject of the thread could be written more clearly.
  18. The HMS Phoenix and the HMS Rose engaged upon by fire ship.
  19. I'm not old enough yet that I cannot relate to my college years, so I'll just give you the advice I wish someone had given me; stop playing MMOs. In fact, stop gaming altogether and find a better hobby, your future self will thank you. Otherwise, this is why they're making Legends. Hop on, get some quick ship battle action, log off.
  20. I haven't really thought this through much, but I wanted to get the idea out there. In my opinion the whole purpose of the leaderboard should be notoriety and fame for the people making it. As such it would be cool to see the winners on the PvP leaderboard from the *previous* day have a bounty on their heads for the *next* day. This could be done any number of ways, but something as simple as 10,000 gold per rank on the leaderboard for sinking the notorious player (so 150k for 1st place, 140k for 2nd place) would be interesting.
  21. "Africa, the flagship, was dismasted and badly damaged that she retreated into a small bay 25 miles East of Havana to make repairs. Knowles with a lead part of his squadron Cornwall and Strafford headed Eastward on October 14 and soon discovered her and opened fire. The stranded crew cut Africa's cables set her on fire and ran on her on shore; an hour later further helped by British cannon fire she blew up." Battle of Havana, 1748
  22. Until they fix "revenge fleets" the EU server can keep their mass of players; one big server at this point would make privateering impossible.
  23. As with most mechanics in this game, no TP to free ports just promotes the use of alts.
