  3. What are "British ports"? I've never seen any of those, Yet I've taken plenty of Australian ports. /s Brit ports have been, are and will allways be 4-6 and 10-12, their faction won't do anything about it, neither will the devs sadly. Stick to your prime times lads.
  4. Not the best of examples really, I don't know why would you tag a cutter in the first place and the Reno can outrun anything unless the wind is moving towards the coast. I never had any problem chasing other frigates in my trinc.
  6. I'm starting to like the concept of players gaining political power by doing certain activities and reaching certain rank/crafting level. One could use political power (PP) to gain access to the parliament (Being in the top number of 100 players by PP maybe?) Then every time you vote or propose something in the parliament you'd use your political power. Higher ranked players and crafters regenerate PP based on rank. You'd also regenerate PP by being lord protector and having buildings. Participating in PVP actions would also reward PP (Including PBs) There should be a cap in the ammount of PP that one can keep in reserve by certain activities (So people don't just sit back waiting for their PP to regenerate) I.E lord protector can save up 5x as much PP than someone who just has some production buildings. There would be no limit to how much PP a player can earn by doing PVP however. Crafters/traders would also gain PP by trading with other players from their own nation or allies. Maybe selling a SoL nets you some PP or buying/selling resources by contract. Here's an example for the whole concept. A player is rear admiral. He regenerates up to 100 PP by rank. On top of that he's crafting lvl 35 so he gets up to 70 PP for it. He has all production buildings and a shipyard maxed so he gets 20 PP at most. He's lord protector of one port and he gains up to 250 PP. So this player would have a PP pool of 440 PP max that would regenerate (Rate of regeneration would be balanced for each activity) Let's say each week. This player also did some PVP and earned 10 PP plus another 10 for selling various ships and resources. Having 460 PP available to vote in the parliament. I'm not gonna propose a way to balance this because I'd have to develop the idea further. I think it's a great way to keep things in motion politically for the nations. That'd be all. Edit: Maybe transferring PP between players could be possible. *Este post no ha sido financiado con dinero negro*
  7. Will there be a number of uncapturable ports for each nation so everyone has enough resources to build ships in case they get rolled back to the capital in a streak of bad luck? Will there be a system in place so that allied/neutral nations can swap/trade ports? What will be done to avoid the setting the ports to timezones when there are barely 400 people online? Edit: Some have suggested letting the attacker chose the time of attack, You don't have to be very brilliant to understand that this is a really bad idea. I still support my concept of limiting the port timers to something like 18-24 GMT for obvious reasons. Edit2: Galbatorix's idea is really good, some sort of picks and bans with timezones (Sort of like captain's mode from Dota) would be awesome. I don't know how would you implement this though.
  8. I think OP's idea, while historically accurate wouldn't please most of the playerbase. There should be a more democratic system in place or else those people who don't really matter will have too much power in their hands. players who have reached a certain rank should be able to participate in the diplomatic system via voting, either by electing representatives or by voting on matters of diplomacy directly. The players should be able to depose lord protectors and representatives by vote, The lord protector(s)/representatives would have a chance to protest and maybe even fight against this, sprakling the mentioned civil wars. Historically accurate is nice, but we can probably hold back a bit on that on a sandbox environment.
  9. So what's the ETA for next "big" update and map wipe? Since the last one didn't really make much of a difference in terms of gameplay I'm kind of scratching my head wondering which direction the game is headed right now, some gameplay changes seem kind of urgent like some proper port battle mechanics and most important the diplomacy changes so this ship can keep sailing.
  10. ¿Es que nadie piensa en los macropodinos?
  11. As some say in my land; Sa matao paco Looking forward to what the French are gonna do now.
  12. I love waking up in the morning and seeing all those ports set to 4-6 timers as I take a dump.
  13. Whoever has the shittiest timers, wins. Timers don't help the smaller nations at all, specially when the bigger nation(s) use these timers in such a way that those small nations can't retaliate. Small nations can't set timers out of their prime time due to the risk that comes with it. The majority of the playerbase are either asleep, at work or at a place of study during that time. 10-12 is another way to safeguard your timers indefinitely without looking so scummy.
  14. Why would I apologise to someone I don't give two s**ts about? You've all resorted to shovel dirt at me when I've presented STRONG FACTS that show how putrid these practices are. The one who has been personally attacked has been me in this thread. Once again being accused of "exploiting" and then you pretending to "be reasonable". Go ahead and tell your council to keep doing what they do. If they do not see that this is for the detriment of all then there's nothing else I can say or do to change your minds. Edit: Demasting is an exploit. /s Edit2:
  15. Oh my! Conde has said something nearly irrelevant that was after proven wrong! Now we must be right in everything else that We've said ourselves! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMJxzltbTZU Point is: 4-6 timers = "f*ck-you you can't do anything about it" against EU playerbase factions. And as I said on an earlier post, It's sad how some try to defend the indefensible. Give us all a lesson in humilty and change all your 4-6 timers to 2-4 timers (Maybe even 00-02 timers) if that's isn't too hard for you.
  16. "They're doing it" As in 3rd person. Go ask the danes about it. The faction which I belong to doesn't hide behind port timers so I'm not contradicting myself because I do not stand behind this practice. An isolated case of Danes setting 4-6 timers against you doesn't make me any less right or wrong. Now proceed to tell me how denying 3-4 factions the opportunity to strike back by setting these timers (Conil and Tiburon) right next to EU playerbase factions is OK. Show some guts and defend these ports during prime time. I'd like to point out that I do not belong to the Spanish nation at the moment. With that out of the way: First of all, Spain hasn't used 4-6 timers since the server went live mainly because they were fighting against the US (4-6 timers against the US? Ouch) and they couldn't change the timers on the base ports. Funny enough when the Spain-British war started most of the Brit ports that were in the area changed timers to 6-8. (This happened the first week of march) And here is the proof: http://imgur.com/a/NXvbY Jamaica is easily defended since it's extremely easy to gather people there so setting 4-6 timers there would be foolish (And would furthermore prove how dishonest Brits are) About your last statement: Yes, It's tactically much better for you since there's no way in hell you're gonna have to defend the port if it's set 4-6. So you'll be buying flags from an untouchable port for days upon days. Seems fair. /s
