  1. Drops from undefended port battle is kind of exploity. Best not to incentivize this type of player behavior. Increase Drop Rate for Quality and Chance for Craft Notes for Defended Port Battles. Incentivizing PVP is good.
  2. Although the large number of factions would definitely make Henry Kissinger happy, but with only 2000 server spaces it does seem a little large. I agree that a protected starting area is the simplest and best solution.
  3. Do it like other games do and give bonuses for XP and gold etc. But you need to lock down the factions so it isn't exploited. You need some carrot and some stick. Very Overpopulated -25% to XP, Gold, and BP Drops Overpopulated - 15% to XP, Gold, and BP Drops Underpopulated +15% to XP, Gold and BP Drops Very Underpopuated +25% to XP, Gold and BP Drops
  4. I get this sometimes about 6 seconds after exiting/entering a port. Never had a crash in any other circumstance.

  8. Guys, Don't get excited. This is why you have an open/early access so you can test how the meta game plays out. Many other games have to deal with the issue of one faction being out of balance in terms of population. It's easy to deal with by granting penalties and bonuses to xp and gold to factions based on population. Lot's of other games use this mechanism. If they deem it to be a problem, the devs will institute a solution. But without players pushing the limits of game systems, issues aren't identified, and might make it into the launch version which would impact the long term health of the game. So the US players have in fact done a great job at being beta testers, by helping to identify a major weakness in the meta game.

  10. This is a nasty one. I deleted my US character, and created a French character. French character started in Fort Royal. Left Fort Royal and appeard outside Roussea TOTALLY STUCK. By totally stuck I mean. - Said sails were raised in UI, but sails did not raise, and I could not turn the boat. - Could not turn the boat. - Cannot attack AI - Teleport does not work. - Cannot auto-enter a battle joined by a group member. - Cannot manually enter a battle joined by a group member. I deleted by French character, recreated with a new name, and attempted to leave Fort Royal again. Same result. Teleported to Rouseau totally stuck. It might have to do with name length. - It occurs with my name as Charles Jean Philippe Villeneuve. - It does not occur with my name as Joe Blow. - It does not occur with name Jo Jo Jo Joe. - It does not occur with name Charles Jean Paul Villeneuve.
  11. I loved the way it worked in Silent Hunter III, where you assigned crew to specific areas. Maybe is this you could assign divisons.
  12. I think they shoudl be more like pirates, and have the gameplay different than the nationals. 1. Pirates should operate out of Free Ports. The idea of a pirate capital seems like trying to fit a square peg (leg) into a round hole. 2. Pirates should not capture ports, but can raid ports and steal a portion of goods in the shops. And maybe they get a Loot Bonus on resources when raiding Merchant Ships. I don' think pirates should be running plantations and weaving shops. 3. If Pirates steal a ship, to reflect their nature of having to patch together ships, maybe it should have 2 Durability instead of the 1 for Nationals. Easier for pirates to use their upgrades too. 4. To reflect their nature as being able to break blockades perhaps their Teleport Cooldown should on only be 90 minutes instead of 180 minutes for Nationals. This would also reflect the difficulty of tracking down pirates. Pirates left port when they ran out of money for rum and wenches, and I think this type of gameplay would better emulate it.
  13. I agree with 1 character per server. Cross-teaming in PotBS became a huge problem. People are going to do it anyway with multiple accounts, so why encourage it by allowing multiple characters of different factions on the same server. I voted for Neutrals. Maybe like a Free Trader class? Maybe restricted to a certain line of ships? If you have folks that want to haul stuff around, it only helps the game, so don't make it tough on them.
  14. To help balance the population on PVP2 so I want to switch to France. I have a ton of crafting supplies which I don't want to lose. Interested in joining a clan. I would be really grateful if someone could help me with the process of switching sides. If your clan needs a ship builder I'm your guy.

    Hello Everyone!

    Hey folks, I got the game on Steam yesterday, didn't have too much time to play, but am loving it already. I love sea based games. I the past I have played Silent Service II, Silent Hunter 2,3,4,5, Sub-Command, Dangerous Water, Navy Field, Pirates of the Burning Sea, and World of Warships. Definitely looking forward to playing with and getting to know everyone. See you at sea!
