  1. No, ran the update. Some of what I have said above was confirmed by friends as well. People I had played with before on this so not new players. I will see what problems replicate next time I am in.
  2. Was it me or did problems appear yesterday? I know its still in development, I just looking up and down the forums trying to spot a good place to put my feedback. Someone point me, I had chat problems, trading items freeze problems, friends had crashed chat, steam chat sht+TAb was locking up over NA screen (using steam chat because new people cant see PM's), couldn't build an outpost (could of been a game mechanic, but I had done this before yesterday in the same place), port orders repeatedly on the dock even after ranking up (not complaining, i never had to sail anywhere), 'find' not working. Not a rant just wanted let developers know. Someone move this if they can see the right place.
  3. I have luffed up and been hit by indecision. ..... all the chat on the boards and on steam has created a whirlpool for me...
  4. I just had breakfast and realised I spent it staring at the server status page. lmao
  5. I have heard this a few times, 'US is so far away '. However there are many US ports and free towns in the game that are further into the main areas and you will find US players on many other nations and pirates. My first reaction to your question was this, get a team together and take a port that you want, the US need not feel its too far out, just seize an area on the map for yourselves and put in outposts. Second reaction was, if your uncertain, then join the Pirates.
  6. I'm playing .. university work! lol. I did wonder how people were getting on with temporary removal of the game, withdrawal symptoms and the like. In fact this is quite interesting to me, but maybe not appropriate to discuss here, since the thread is not directly about this. So in answer to the question, I'm not playing anything currently, I have definitely have lost all interest in WoW,
  7. Frisky radio streams, they have two options, Frisky or Chill. I use Frisky in battle and Chill in open world.
  8. When he started not doing what he was asked to do!! ( Henry Morgan the Pirate who invaded Panama 1671 )
  9. What! No Port clocks! ???

  10. Ahoy! I dont know if something like this already exists, I'm new. The game is in testing and we are all playing, but to help developers and speed things up, I wonder if they could post specific things that they would like us to investigate and feedback in structured manner. Could they create a job pool where you could pick up a job in order to assist them? Just an idea.
  11. Ahoy! To get a good perspective on pirates, people might like to look at the history of Henry Morgan and his raids and port captures ( I dont think I am allowed to post the link to other sites but its there on-line and a good read, just search Henry Morgan Pirate ). You will see that pirates both raided and captured ports. I personally think that if you limit crafting then there would need to be a counter balance to this. It gets complicated because many people want to be a kind of 'Jack Sparrow' but if people flock to the pirate colours you will get an imbalance in relation to what the real situation was, however this is only a game, its not a historical re-enactment. If you remove high levels of crafting from pirates then give them something in return that other players can not have.. that way there is an incentive to remain a pirate. It gets complex because anything you change will lead to a request for that to be removed or changed again (everybody wants to be on the winning team).
  12. Parrot Cay is held by the Pirates... you could join the pirates?. The pirates only hold a tiny fraction of the ports in naval action.
  13. I would like to see... Port Clock in home screen Weather conditions outside the port whilst in home screen The chat interface could have an indicator that a person has a PM. I notice many people tell people they have PM'd them (if chat box is not stretched out you dont see them).
  14. Ahoy! I joined the testing just over a week ago, while the server is down I thought I would give you my experience so far. I became a pirate, politics between factions does not interest me so pirates was a good option to have. I enjoyed the fact the pirates have a specific area. Whilst there are some clans I found the pirate group itself to be a clan and everybody has been helpful and a joy to play alongside. Now this is how it went for me. Day 1. A lot of keyboard buttons to get used to, I am not a hardcore gamer. I have real life sailing experience so I could understand the various points of sailing, wind directions, tacking, reaching and jibing. I was prepared to take the hits on gunnery while I mastered the keyboard. To gain extra help I viewed the beginners video tutorials on this forum. That helped me immensely and I would like to see more video tutorials, personally I think they are way better than any written guide, you can keep rewinding videos until you get the points being made. It stays in memory better for me personally. So the only thing I think I would of liked on day one, was an area of combat water that had no enemies initially so that I could experiment with everything. On reflection I could of asked a player to attack me and then leave me to play. By the end of my first days play I was tacking upwind and chaining enemy sails. Chaining is the easy option to experiment with initially because you can be more inaccurate with aiming. By the end of my first week I was mastering the keys for tacking and jibing in manual on multi mast vessels. This is needed and adds more to the game skill wise, again I was back to trying to sail well whilst ignoring the incoming cannon balls. Once i started to get that sorted I found i could concentrate on taking single shots instead of broadsides, practising aiming with no range lock on the cursor. I found I got better and better, but it took a lot of hours to get good. In the end I practised against AI firing one shot at a time until I could sink one. Then I moved to the broadsides and trying to get as many shots on the mark. Its taken me a lot of hours, I'm not young so that also has an affect on learning. I think its a great game and well worth the effort of learning to play well, very enjoyable. I think that if you were to simplify anything you would be losing something. I can understand some people found it difficult but then once you get over the initial learning hurdle you have a sense of achieving something. I guess my biggest struggle on gunnery and one which I think I have passed in my own way, is the telescope on shift. Its a great thing to have but I just found I had too many other things to concentrate on initially and never really managed its use, I think I have got the range thing currently sorted by just playing a lot, shift can wait until later. I think single shot on space bar is good, while learning the spacebar is a big enough button not to miss. I got to the level of Maurader just using the cutter and carronades. I tried a Brig and moved to Snow. That's how it was for me in the first few days.
  15. Thanks for putting this up. I just joined alpha testing and it is helpful to have something like this... visual tutorials go into my memory better. I have only watched the first beginners tutorial, I found it useful to understand what the various buttons are for and the different firing modes, what to fire, when to fire and where to fire. Its very helpful to learn in this way because you can rewind the video again and again until you have learnt it.
  16. I noticed these posts are very old, are they still developing this game? or has it been dropped. Just wondered if the game never happened.
