  1. It would be nice to have, no doubt, but at what cost? Framerates would plummet.
  2. I'd be all about adding earlier -not supahcool later- Spanish ships. Fat and short galleons, designed for trade, proved in battle, reigning the seas for a century. Call me romantic, but I'd rather be the underpowered underdog by stretching "fairness" at the lowest point than at the high hard limit. You can have all the late 'Murican ships you want
  3. The term galeón was dropped by Royal Order in 1732 in favour of Navío de linea, so it took quite some years for the denomination to disappear. Also, it was very widely applied to ANY ship dedicated to maintain communications with America and to keep naval superiority, so it's easy to find ships called galeón in multitude of late -for naval evolution- writings. Here's a list of Spanish SoLs. It's in Spanish, but the data should be easy to guess http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anexo:Nav%C3%ADos_de_l%C3%ADnea_de_la_Armada_Espa%C3%B1ola
  4. It saddens me deeply that our enemies often remembered and praised our deeds in a way we never did, or do. I'll leave here a name that has been forgotten so frequently. Read about him: Blas de Lezo.
  5. I had the three plans from the Naval Museum in Madrid for the 1717 San Fernando. I'll see if I can dig them out, as they have to be somewhere but I moved twice since... I've tried to find the scanned files, but I don't have them anymore, it seems.
  6. Instead of creating a new problem I edited a previous one with my conclusions on Nvidia card and software. Also, more AA options and graphics in general would be great.
  7. I was wondering why someone was posting the same picture over and over, and then noticed it's an unreasonably huge signature...
  8. I'll start with a recent one by Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau "The last battle of the Glorioso" Another from the same series San Vicente Cape, Feb. 14th, 1797. Spanish Marine Infantry Grenadier Martín Álvarez protects the Spanish Flag flown by the ship San Nicolás de Bari. After succesfully protecting the flag from the British boarders, he was injured and Nelson himself ordered him to be taken to the Portuguese Algarve to get medical treatment. "Hunting at dawn". 1805, a Spanish schooner is being pursued by two British frigates.
  9. Sing Maartens Zeevaarders Syndicaat leader, if I recall correctly I recall making some music sample for Marion

    POTBS

The only thing I remember from PotBS was the awesome people that were there at the very start (way before the game launched) when the project was exciting, realist and hadn't take a dive into carebear heaven and magic stuff. I specially remember those awesome folks that did some of the most incredible 3D modeling for the company. I'm sure some of them will be around here, and I was proud to provide some of them with real plans for Spanish ships. There were some of them that went literally from no knowing how to model to make top notch models. It made me terribly sad to see all that hard work and dedication gone to waste in what the game became. I have to say that I abandoned ship after beta, disillusioned and betrayed by the route things took. I really hope Naval Action takes the spot some of us were expecting PotBS to take. (I went by this same name in those forums, years ago).
