  1. There's no way the real NA players who use these names in game have only 300 hours in game. It seems like fake accounts using in-game names so they appear more credible.
  2. They look fake to me, copy/paste reviews with 1 product in account.
  3. Not necessarily, for example my steam name is Lord Admiral Privateer.
  4. Not cool my dudes, seems like someone posted what I would consider a fake steam review under the name Privateer. I've heard reviews can't be removed, so that's sort of lame, but I promise the real Privateer is much cooler. I don't know if this is common or not, might be something for players to look into. I wouldn't have known this review was there unless someone pointed it out to me. I flagged this one on steam, I don't know if that does anything. I would certainly like to see the recent reviews be more positive though and the fake ones aren't helping. Edit: Adding more links so it is clear this is trolling and not a coincidence. https://i.gyazo.com/1895131576cbe26e4d0b5ff7ed4a6db9.png https://i.gyazo.com/790c52a7cdda22f568a1b7905e190126.png https://i.gyazo.com/92b5e1996d7c438d154934d2a29ccbaf.png idk if this is the right place to post this, admin feel free to move it around
  5. If it had a hard cap, like 80% of the joining ships BR has to fit without going over the opposing sides BR, it would completely fix any problem that people are having.
  6. It's not showing off so much as responding to your unfounded claim about my play style.
  7. Why not go with this plan? It seems popular, the defender can still get reinforcements for 20min if they're being ganked. Seems like a win/win unless you're a ganker.
  8. Nah, I just don't mind a little bit of extra BR on the enemy side.
  9. This whole thread seems to be full of people with the same issue: They were doing some sort of uneven battle with some amount of BR open on the enemy side and then a bunch of enemies joined and they lost. I'll admit, maybe there's an issue with the BR being exceeded too much in the opposite direction after 2min. However, that seems like a minor balancing issue in a otherwise great system. The idea that the whole system should be scrapped over such an issue seems to be more out of spite over losing a battle than out of a actual desire to do what's best for the game.
  10. If it were me, I'd just sink the l'Ocean and the lighter ships.
  11. Yep, just like I said in my previous comment. As long as the battle becomes more even I don't see a issue.
  12. So, in this scenario, after 20 min it's a l'Ocean vs Bellona, Herc, Pandora, and l'Ocean? I'm not sure if a l'Ocean would be able to join if there's only 210 BR left, that would be something for the @admin to answer. However, for the first 18min you would be against only a Bellona, Herc, and Pandora which I assume you could mostly sink, especially with the new damage model you're like 5 good broadsides from victory. Incorrect, the battle locks as soon as the BR is exceeded, ships can only join until then. In VCO we have tested clicking join at the same time to exceed BR and it has a very low success rate. It seems like the real issue that both @AeRoTR and @Tom Farseer want looked at is people being able to join and greatly exceeding the BR. So why not just say that instead of trying to ruin a perfectly good system for the rest of us.
  13. That's literally not how any of this works. After the first 2min, only the side with lower BR can be joined, and once the BR is exceeded the battle instantly locks. (unless it's exceeded by too much in which case the other side opens again to allow the BR to equalize further) The 20 min join only ever makes battles more even, I'm sorry you can't gank stuff any more, learn to do even battles. Also, there has been much more pvp since the 20min timer was added, I'm sure the devs have collected data on this, it's far superior to the old system.
  14. It's all true. Nothing will fix how the DLC influence the game in the days following release, it's too late for that. However, if crafting can return to a state where people are crafting multiple rare wood ships at a time hoping for a purple or gold ship, then player B would be able to ask in nation chat for a ship, buy one in the shop, or join a clan and be provided one. This is how it was when rare woods were not so rare and permits were not so dependent on luck.
  15. Should do a ship wipe along with a map wipe, so we can all get used to seeing only DLC for the rest of forever.
  16. Doesn't matter if no one's crafting any ships, and in case you didn't notice, no one's crafting any ships.
  17. Can we just revert crafting back to how it was 4 months ago when shops were full of ships? 😁 The levels don't even need to be changed back, and the craft hours are fine, we just need the permits to be in the admiralty shop and rare woods to go back to how they were. And the devs can continue with their plan of making all basic materials spawn in one port, people will do enough sailing hauling the rare woods around.
  18. The first 3 points I believe are correct. The 4th point I would have to disagree with. It's not that people are avoiding participating in the economy, it's that the economy is nearly impossible to participate in. For years there have been enough people willing to participate in the economy, haul resources, craft ships, etc. to sustain a vibrant ship market. It used to be that capital ports and free towns had many pages of ships for sale. I don't think this changed because a re-bodied Wasa was added as a DLC and everyone is content with it. People want to be able to craft ships, they used to craft ships. Consolidating "basic" resources in one place is not going to fix the problem, rare woods are currently way too rare, and all the permits need to be available for some amount of Victory Marks, Combat Metals, or Doubloons.
  19. I think it is supposed to be permanently in Bridgetown, but there's also supposed to be a second port that makes it, and this second port moves around. For instance white oak is permanently in New-Orleans, but currently Saint Marys has White Oak delivery missions as well, and when Saint Mary's runs out, it will move somewhere else. However, there is literally no way for anyone who is not pirate to know that Saint Mary's makes white oak. So, I assume the same goes for teak, there's a second port somewhere. I don't know how this is supposed to promote RVR considering we don't even know where to look.
  20. I can't get the system to work, and I think I would be considered privileged. I have control of 26 ports, get 10 Vic marks per week, have 140 CM, 100k doubloons, and 15mil reals. I'd say that's more than 90% of players can hope for and it would still take me weeks to replace a teak ship if one of mine sunk, and that's if the permit is in the shop. As far as RNG permits, it's like you said, I'm blocked from using them just like everyone else. If I can't get the system to work with all my resources and experience, then what is a new player supposed to do? Rare woods need to be way less rare and permits all need to be in the shop for combat metals.
