Ship Knowledge grind

It actually makes more logical sense for ship knowledge to be handled on a ship by ship basis. I agree with the previous comments stating make it as hard as you like, as much xp as you like to make a player grind for those slots BUT dont force them to grind ships they either dont like or will never pilot.

If the system was this way, you would get Experts in certain ship types, you could even add more rewards for insane levels of xp and have a system that rewards specialisation rather than another uninspired grind-fest

Devs promised us that we will keep our ranks/xp, and then they realized that this means we will all start maxed out and tried to make our rank less usefull. (not the only requirement to use a ship at max efficiency).

If you grind through all the ships you will most likely have gained more xp then you need for max cpt. rank.

A clever and mean way to make us all start over again. :D

They dont have the knowlegde boxes open yet... I can dail pne if i had it. That is all about rank.

They really don't seem to care about building the player-base which is fine if they are prepared for the consequences ... everything up until now shows that they are building the game they want to play which is their prerogative. We can wish as much as we want that they decide to build a game that everyone will enjoy but only time will tell which way they decide to go (although there are plenty of 'indications')

Apparently they have already tried to grow the player base (so i read an admin say elsewhere) and it didn't work .. i must have missed that :)

I propose actual hoops in the game, that players need to sail through.

These can be placed in the OW, somewhere in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.  I recommend a plain white graphic, like the crossed swords for a battle instance, only in hoop form.

But before you can go through the hoops, there should be a capstan mini-game, where you push round and round for 3 hours before you win the mini-game.  The prize for this game is the unlocking of the hoops in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm sure there will be many players arguing for a six hour completion time for the mini-game, or for an interminable amount of hoops to sail through but this is moderate, I think.

There ought to be appropriate sounds for the capstan, immense creaking and grinding, and groans from the crew, and harsh starting by the officers.
