The First NA Society "Tattered Flags" is Now Recruiting

Recommended Posts

With the advent and expectation of the soon to be released "Early Access" and with the understanding that teamwork provides the most enjoyment and the most efficient way to win battles the first Naval Action society/clan/company(whatever it may be called) has formed in preparation for the upcoming battles and is advertising for recruitment.

We are called Tattered Flags.

This name implies action, that we have been to hell and back and with this in mind we will have two focuses, PvP and economy. Although PvE is not frowned upon, members will be expected to take part to some degree in one of the two, so if you are strict pve than this is probably not the society for you. Our desire is to be leaders in the nation, not dictators mind you, but a successful, influential, and economic power of the American nation.

The leadership of this society has been decided and is formed from the leadership team of two of the most successful British societies on the tiggy server on Pirates of the Burning Sea. We have a history of working well together, pvp'ing together, and leading the nation as a whole. We believe that societies form in a variety of ways that can lead to a respected and meaningful place in the nation. We look forward to allying with other societies that will form in the near future.

If you are interested in joining up with us and you are willing to help defend the nation against other players or have the goal of being an economic powerhouse than please post below or private message me. We are compiling names and would like you to be a part of the team. We already have a small list of 20ish players that are committed to the cause with many more from Potbs that we have yet to approach. Come and help us become the best society that we can become. To the bottom with the French!

Note: Our focus, name, etc is subject to change if the game constricts us in someway that effects our expected model.

Requirements:

Pvp or economic focused gameplay

Teamspeak

A desire to get along with others and keep the drama to a minimum

Sign me up, if there is no U.S.A.

Cool. We are assuming that early release will be the standard nations. Its possible we might switch nations with full release but it depends on alot of factors and what the group wishes to do. We are keeping an open mind.

meh allways Royal Navy maybe i take lead of one of the other nations with some other people.

i just hope that we get a system where the line between PvP and PvE is fading and more twisted into each other, or atleast that the mentality that PvP only means 1vs1 3vs3 5vs5 or Portbattles dies out and that people notice that economical warfare is another kind of pvp.but there shouldnt be such a big problem to learn pvp since we dont have the potbs system that new players have to go against people in ships with moV fitings and that only the helmskills matter. and that a large amount of AI ships can now mean trouble if you are outnumbered one they ahve an more fleshed out programming

I think that would be good. We can't all be British. I would love, in fact, to play American or one of the other smaller nations but I imagine in early release we will only have the brits and french and maybe spanish. I guess we will see.

I also hope that pve will be meaningful in this game unlike Potbs and if it is we will have no need to designate a play focus as we have done here.

Although, I think you miss that there was a lot of economic warfare in Potbs as it often guided which ports we chose to flip. But in the end if you destroy their econ to much then they are unable to meet you on the OS and that can make for a very boring game.

As part of our organization of a NA clan we are preparing for the influx of other clans. To this effect we are opening up our 100 slot TS which is already the Potbs British TS server to British clans that form in NA. If you start a British NA clan and want the TS info then announce it here or PM me and I will give you the info.

ATM, i believe Mirones TS is being used for some NA testing but Mirone has above showed interest in another nation so the need for another sponsored TS will be in need so we are not trying to step on Mirone's toes but just preparing for the enevitable.

When this game goes live I hope that we have already seen formed a couple of clans in each nation so that there will actually be adversaries worth fighting.

I would like to be a part of your group if you will have me. I was an officer with the St. George Squadron of the White when PotBS was in beta and the first couple of years of the live game.

We would love to have you. You will hear more from us as we get closer to early release. We are all good friends with the remaining members of SGS. I havn't seen Gabriel Lawrence in a while but when he does show up we talk. I have the utmost respect for SGS.

As I said in my first post, all things are subject to change. So we would like to announce a change in the groups name. We liked E.P.I.C until we did some research and saw how many guilds out there use that name. We don't want to be just one of many. Epic also lacks any naval conotations and is more of a gamer group name in general than an age of sail themed name.

Our new name is:   Tattered Flags

The more we thought about this name the better we liked it. This name has depth to it and isnt one of the many predictable names we are likely to see in the game. I personally like that is a picture phrase not just a name. When you say it you immediately think of what those tattered flags would look like and it begs the question why. Tattered Flags insinuates action and that the person sporting that flag has been to hell and back. It speaks of courage and honor.

We also like that this name does not marry us to any one nation. ATM we are calling ourselves Brits because we are assuming that only the superpowers will be in early access but when all the nations are launched then we may very well change. We will see how are members feel about it at the time.

We are still recruiting interested Captains for this group. Let us know.

I kinda prefere PVe but I do my part for the soc that I am a part of. I sucked at PvP but was getting better. When I sailed on POTBS, i was with the Royal Guard. Mostly econ. That got old, but I participated as much as I could. I did love talking on vent with others though. I play weird hours and due to my job and my wife I can not always log on. Some days when I play I am hot and other days I just plain suck. I don't like to be treated badly as I am sure most people don't. I just want to plain have fun. I can have a warped sense of humor and being an old Marine, I sometimes cuss like one. I am respectful of others though and expect the same in return. My experiences on POTBS were good and bad. My experiances with my old soc were good and bad as well, sometimes very bad. I want to be in a soc that loves ships and sailing and fighting. I want to be friends with others who genuinally love the genra and can forgive bad spelling. I do not want to be chummy with people who are nothing more than MMO players who only want to win and dominate. If this is a soc that can fulfill my requirements then count me in and I will do my best to fulfill the requirements of the soc and those in it.

Forgive the rambling but i really hope to enjoy this game and wamt to be in a good society. POTBS got old and sometimes stupid. If I ask too much. Please let me know.

Yes, Hyperion, I believe this soc will be what you are looking for. In Potbs the leaders for Tattered Flags led a very successful society that fits the description you ask about. I believe it was arguably one of the most successful societies in the game because of it although there were many other great societies as well.

We are not trying to just reproduce what we had in PotBS and that is why we are more focused on the PvP aspect of the game this time around. I respect all types of game play, including the PvE player. I just don't want them to lecture me on how to win maps and such but otherwise to each his own. This game may actually have a meaningful role for the PvE player. I hope it does at least. Our society in PotBS had a reputation of an influential carebear society and that always grated me because most of the time there were more of us at a flip then anyother society. The problem was that we had 500 members but less than 10 of us PvP'd consistently. We want to avoid that reputation this time around and so are focusing more on pvp/economy. We won't be a stereotypically pvp society though but there will be an expectation of pvp encounters occasionally from our members. So, if you are interested in doing some pvp then you are by all means welcome. If you only pvp 15% of the time, thats fine. There won't be tallies.

well pvp will surely be better here since we dont have some überfrigattes sterncamping with 20+knots and full of items that make physically no sense.

and we have to forget the old meaning ov PvE= grinding stupid bots.

its like hunting the lvl 40 convoys near Orleans some times its easy farming and sometimes you get 2 valiants in your face.

i hope that the Ai convoys or controlled AI ships will come. I.E:

having alot of cargo laying around that you cant transport alone so you build together with your soc and smale tradingfleet of 5 small Indiamans or any other fast merchant.

these gets ordered to bring raw materials to the shipyard towns and from there tools for the copper and iron mines back. these would need escort that could be an real player wich preffers fighting of enemy Ai privateers wich got odered by an soc from an enemy nation to patrol this area because no player want to sail the whole atlantik up and down to luckly find an convoy by surprise.

because i dont think that we have enough players at start to populate the whole globe.

Well, sounds pretty good. Count me in. From what I'm reading, it sounds more like this game will be closer to a simulator than an MMO. Ship against ship and captain against captain with no magic spells. That is what I had hoped for with POTBS. Hornblower took a big Spanish Galleon with a frigate, clever thinking, and good gunnery. That is what I'm looking for here. To be able to do so with a good group of people is an added bonus. As for PvP, as long as the devs in this game don't make It too difficult to replace a ship, I will be more than happy to participate. I was PvP'ing before I finally quit POTBS and learning a lot, but then again I had a lot of deeds and wasn't afraid to loose a ship. It was fun and educational. There just weren't no one to PvP with. Econ is boring but must be done so I have no problems with that. My biggest problem that would effect the soc, it that I sail at weird hours. I work overnights so logging on at 0400 mountain time is not unusual for me. Oh, I like frigates. I like to skirmish. I want to play this game real, real bad. I want to be a part of a fun soc. Won't come soon enough.

Well right now, our members play between 8pm - 2am eastern usually but we have a couple of aussies in the group that will be on at different times. But who knows who will finally join up. If there is only one server there may be lots of Europeans and such in the society.
