  1. I don't like the aggressive npc's on the OS. We had that before years ago and it was annoying. The exception would be if you create legendary npc's that are more rare. You know, famous pirates and such.
  2. This game definitely needs more. It still feels incomplete and unpolished. The need is for a tweak on the port battles to avoid the stagnant map and the second is to do as Aster suggests or something similar that will give people something to do once they reach max level. There needs to be a pvp endgame and a pve endgame. The pvp endgame is in place with needed adjustments but the pve endgame is non existent.
  3. I wold love to help you guys but I'm not sure we are in the same timezone. My clan operates late at night during American time zones.
  4. It feels like we are sailing the North Atlantic
  5. Hi Ink,

I hear your the guy to go to for reparations for lost items that the game caused.

I wrote an F11 as well. It happened around 6:15 server.

I was in a pvp fight and we were losing. Partner down I fled. I was able to leave but clicking on the exit button crashed the game. I thought I would spawn on the OS as this is what has happened to me in the past but this time i respawed in the battle and being sunk of course.

I would like to petition for the ship back as it was a blue 4/5 with bovenwinds, copper, naval hull. (Cant remember the last one.)

I appreciate your consideration. I know its just a DLC ship but it takes awhile to get lucky. Again thanks.

My in game name is Sid the Infected and I'm French

  6. I have seen this as well of course. Problem is you can't really take a screen shot of it can you?
  7. With the number of chat bans KoC has already been rewarded with, I'm sure those post pics have been addressed. Either way I don't really see an accusation against Christendom. All he says is he wouldn't be surprised to see Christendom do this. This is a judgment of character and not a specific accusation.
  8. That is a downside to this game. It is hard to find nice fights. It happens but not very often. Of course, for me, the time zones is an issue there as well. I go out late at night my time and the only ones up at that time our your traders that are getting up before work to do some quick runs. What I miss is the arranged battles in PotBS. It was quite common for us to do that in the red zones but here when you offer the same thing the opposite side is more likely gonna stick with the gank.
  9. If 25 people showed with intentions of going in then I would agree. It is not a troll flip.
  10. are you saying that their team got screened out or that only 4-6 Frenchies showed up? If only 4-6 guys showed up then I think its reasonable to see it as a troll flip, not that I care if it was or wasn't.
  11. If I ever quit, it will not be be because of how other players play the game and how that may make my life hard in it. I will quit because of the management of the game by the devs who can't seem to set their alarm clocks to work on the game or are spending most their time on some other project meaning this game likely has no future. #setyouralarmclocksdevs
  12. Respectfully, You must play a little closer attention to what has been said in the many arguments above. The US has not complained about day flips other than to point out the hypocrisy that has been shown over "night flips". We have been called abusers, exploiters etc because we schedule PBs at our time which is inconvenient to Euros while they schedule PBs at their time which is inconvenient to the US. Its just shear hypocrisy and that is what you find the US complaining about. Just remember that at one time there was only one server. There was no NA server. When multiple servers were built, those on the original, for good reason, wanted to stay on the original and we did and it was a good choice because pvp2 looks boring. The name EU was given to pvp1 at that point. I do understand your perception about EU server verse NA server but it is a misconception. The servers were created in different areas of the world for ping purposes but we don't have any issue with ping on the EU server. It was always meant to be a global server and even Ink's message said it would return to one. They specifically said in past posts that the server names had nothing to do with who the servers were for. I think the argument that you made that was fair was when you said that you can't change servers. This is true. Only one server has a player base that plays during your timezones and that is the EU server so I agree that you cannot move as you would find yourself in the same position. Well, I guess there is the Chinese you could fight. But why does people moving have to be the only option? Why can't one of the myriad of ideas that have been posted be used so that we truly can have a global server? Is it because you have become so convinced of your own ownership of this server that you expect others to change to suit your needs, or because you have lost faith in the devs to actually input a solution to the mechanics that would prevent night flips?
  13. You have a point there in that when there was 2k players we had a lot more in the US nation but they were still not Euros other than two german clans and one Polish that never joined but talked about it. I don't think it was anything to do with what could be found there or not. I think it had everything to do with the nationalism we find in the game. Almost everyone wants to play their own nation except for pirates which are multinational. Even the Brits didn't have a truly multinational nation. Most of their players came from Britain or former British territories like the Aussies and the US, essentially English speakers. The dynamics of the game has also changed. Before, everything required long sails to get everywhere. With teleports in place and faster ship speeds/smaller world, getting around has been much easier. You now find the US in every point on the map. I guess that still doesn't mean that players won't be nationalistic but maybe what we will find is that the nationalistic players are the niche players that are here to stay and the one that join later will be the type that just want a good game. All any nation really needs in 1 1/2 port battle groups in each of the two time zone groups and one good ally. So Sweden only needs 25 westerners for the pb at night and 12 or so more to screen in order to compete. That doesn't sound like an impossible goal to reach if the game can attract another 1000 back into the game and give incentives to join certain nations. all that needs to be done is for the game to look at the location of the player and offer incentives for the stats in that timezone. So Euros would be encouraged to join the US during Euro hours and western players that log on at their time would be given incentives to join other nations like Sweden or France. agreed Tell me when its your turn to be kicked off a server, that you love, to be on while others get to stay and tell me if its game breaking to those that have invested the most time in this game. And common, You know what I will say to this. The problem here is the perceived notion that some players have "rights" to this server as Euros. I have never assumed I have "rights" against the devs. They have every right to do with their server and game as they please. I can react to that by not playing it or by writing scathing reviews if I am not pleased. That is my only right. But I will argue rights against other players who also assume certain rights of property to the server. This issue is not a game mechanic issue although it could be solved by one. It is an issue between two groups of people who exist on the game. One of which, thinks that only their time zones have priority and all must bow to those time zones. And we all know this is true. I also didn't say forced. I said coerced. Thats different. Nobody is banning my IP but I am being told that I will not be able to participate in half of the game unless I find a way to play at different hours. Now if I could do that, I'd be doing it already so I am essentially being pushed off the server if I actually want to participate in large scale content One of the irritating things is that, knowing the devs, it is likely that we won't be able to transfer our characters. We will have to go over there and start from scratch. That is very discriminating against one group of players. Would you, in order to get your split servers, be ok if the devs did a complete assest wipe of all players on both pvp1 and pvp2. Reset the rules of the servers and let players choose anew where they want to have their character? One last point. If you look at what Ink said, you will see that this is only temporary until release. He was quite clear on it. So what are we gaining by splitting the servers when we could actually test different ideas now. If they release without testing whatever ideas they have then it is bound to be a disaster. If we could just get the devs to set their alarm clocks every morning to wake up and do some work we wouldn't be in this mess.
  14. That is an issue and an unfortunate one. Our clan originally waffled over which nation to join. We were afraid the US would be a zerg nation which it is on pvp2 but on pvp1 it has obviously not been the case. We struggled initially as well because we were surprised how little Euros wanted to play the US. The Germans and Aussies were the only ones that seemed to want to give it a go but not enough to make a difference during the day so we were required to wake up early in the morning. It was difficult but satisfying when it happened and we were able to take their port in during their timers. I wonder, and I think the devs think, that upon release the numbers will swell and solve that problem. A lot of our issues right now is player base but of course there is no guarantee that the right population spread would happen even then. During the meeting of the nations we all seemed to agree that if incentives were given to smaller nations to join then more diversity would be accomplished. Merging the servers could aid a little right now but I agree that it won't be a final fix. The brits and the US will get a boost from the western players coming over but looking at their population it won't change much between the nations. It would probably only make the US a team large enough to truly compete consistently. We still struggle with numbers. The pirates would get a sizable boost and everyone else will get some boost but probably not enough to change the dynamic. Release is really the deciding factor on what should be done with the servers imo. I understand that you have come to your conclusion that the server be split. We will probably not come to agreement on that and it is a difference of preference not logic. Talking about the timers is a way of dealing with the here and now without coercing certain players to move off of their server home. It sounds like you were using position 2 as a reason to split servers and there really isn't anything to argue there if your position is that setting alarms EVER is unacceptable but don't you think(in the name of compromise) that widening the port timer window could mitigate some of the pain?
  15. I don't know about the Brits or the Dutch but the US NEVER set port timers outside of our prime time.
  16. I think we have figured that out well enough. It is a compromise. Nothing is gonna please everyone and someone is always gonna bitch. This compromise is that you don't have to worry about losing ports while your a sleep. Attacking a US port, for instance, will require them setting alarm clocks but at least they can plan ahead and pick a day that is most beneficial for them. Most RvR players aren't looking to eliminate PBs most of the time. The US now has a Euro RvR clan that wants to PB during Euro times. That means we would most likely set our timers around our important ports to our benefit and leave other ports for the Euros to fight over. The other part of the idea Monkey is to change the original timer system as I think everyone during those days wanted to do. Essentially the idea would be to widen them from 2 hours to much more, maybe upwards of 8 hours. That would give the enemy much more flexibility to choose attack times. The US never did. We always set it to our prime time. Monkey33 was a SORRY member during those days if he has been around that long. If that is true, the pirates didn't do that either back then. They had three blocks of times they set so that they could defend their entire territory which was quite large because they had lots of players. The only ones that I know that did that for sure was the Spanish and they set timers that were both bad for us and bad for them making them easy to take when we set our alarms.
  17. Im confused. I thought you were for port timers. Wouldn't that solve the problem without advantage to everyone. Seriously, the only critique I can see someone making would be either 1. They believe in any battle, any time, with no restrictions and to bad if your port gets flipped at night 2. They don't like the idea that timers still force attacks to possibly be during off hours. I would make an argument that the solution is a compromise and a good one if done properly.
  18. Your right. Only mechanic solutions function over time but I can remember last January thru, what, the end of March or so when all alliances were by the shake of the hand. No mechanics existed and we all made it work. It was even more interesting in some ways. It just wasn't practical. If at the beginning of all this we all sat down and made some agreements and presented a unified idea to the devs then, just maybe, we would have had a chance to have a positive effect on the game. You see, at the beginning, I didn't like the night flips we were doing either. I didn't mind them against the Danes because that was simply a statement to be made against them. But after that I saw no value in hitting empty ports. Of course I believe we had every right to but we weren't gonna get better by simply making dots green. But this attitude changed quickly in me because, simply put, I wasn't being treated as an equal. Most solutions presented by the other side was to there advantage and at our expense. I think one of the problems is that we have debated this topic in these forums, that have more trolls and duds than honest players, then talking in person. It didn't help that every reasonable solution to move toward a common goal was shot down by everyone. I think they realized that many of the restrictions on the US game play would also be restrictions on them and so it was refused. If only they had, in that moment, realized they were feeling what the US was feeling. This whole thing reminds me of the US economy collapse. Everyone wanted to blame wall street and the bankers when it was the gov't that started the whole mess. While everyone was screaming and calling for blood over wall-street, the gov't was just walking away unscathed. The culprit here is the Devs not the eastern alliance or the western time zone players. Its both reasonable for some to hate the idea of night flips and for some to want to play while they are online without restrictions. We sit here and fight each other instead of raising one very loud voice in protest to the Devs for first, removing port timers, and second, for not improving on them. Like my gov't who instigated the mess that our economy became but got away with it, the devs of Naval Action are getting away nearly scott free for the mess they made. They were the ones that said they wanted constant swapping of ports, no front lines, and no timers and they made it happen, so why are we at each others throats? I say, lets raise the fist in solidarity and go after the devs for this debacle. Maybe then we can all be friends again. (I can't believe I just used a socialist reference)
  19. Well first of all its bull@#$%. We have offered many many alternatives. I personally have posted at least 3 over time and all but one before this announcement. Check your facts man and comment on only those things you actually know something about because you don't help the situation. You make matters worse.
  20. Clever response in your wording JonSnowLetsGo but ignored everything that I said so was this for fun or did it have a point. Have I or anyone else here claimed that we haven't flipped at inconvenient times for our enemies? No, we have just claimed we have the right to and that it is the only way for us to have content while we play. Just respond to the fact that the eastern alliance has been doing it against US players from day one. I know you will claim that you would still get fights but you didn't get it from US players, you got it from the Brits and the Dutch. So tell me why don't you go and attack them over and over again and only attack US players and ports during their prime time like you demand we do for you. Oh yeah, some of those ports have Live Oak so I guess its ok to night flip when the port has something you want. :/ I've also already let the cat out of the bag by saying we have given the weekend flips to the Euros in our nation so what are we left with? It has been floated around to the nations that we could all agree to only flip on weekends or only one port at a time to make defense at off hours easier on the defenders but NOOO nobody wanted to have anything to do with that. Oh, and then everyone shows pictures of empty port battles. So what... What does that mean. On day two of our counter attack the Danes said they would no longer show for night port battles. Following them came the same rallying cry from the Swedes, French, and Spanish. Of course there was no one there. You chose not to fight. Pictures don't show that bit of history now does it. Now someone show the picture of the fight on Savannah during the "truce" and before a moratorium of Port Battle participation was announced. Now I know some will say, as has been said, that a nation can't keep that up week after week. Your right they can't and what happens is that the ports will finally fall to the camp that cares the most about them. So all those Danish ports we took. Obviously we don't care much about them. Eventually we would bore or get tired of waking up late and you would get them back without contention for awhile. Which is exactly what happened.
  21. Common now Bearwall, you know this isn't true. The Devs brought this on by removing defense port timers in order to create 24/7 action in all nations and it backfired. The Danes, French, Spanish, and Swedes have yet to attack USA during their prime time yet expect the USA to do that for them. Yes, its true that our alliance has more flexibility and our allies come out in force to help us defend certain properties but as a previous post says there is only a few US players that show regularly for those fights. Whenever you have attacked US ports you have robbed the US faction of having fun equal fights during their prime time just as the US has, in the name of content, done the same to you and the US didn't even start it, we just capitalized on it. But that is neither here nor there, just don't be hypocritical and self righteous about it people.(thats not directed at you Bearwall but everyone.)
  22. Their TS was DDOS'd and it is only reasonable to assume that their enemies are the ones doing it. Our TS has received these attacks multiple times over the past year and we always assumed it was our most recent enemies, true or not. By admitting or claiming that it was you that did it, it is only natural that their anger would be directed at you for such a lowly cowardly act and in my opinion any insult thrown your way was warranted even if its against the rules. Circumstances should dictate the action and the circumstances don't warrant any action. To call them childish for reacting to someone DDOSing their TS is silly. It is much more childish to be trolling about it and criticizing them when they respond.
  23. I'm sorry you feel that way but you are wrong. I'm hesitant to tell you why because it is a part of strategy but I think I will nonetheless. Any war has the supreme goal to win. There are numerous ways to win a war and one is to wear down the enemy, make sure you take more of their territory than they take of yours, to demoralize them into not wanting to fight any longer so you can take what you want or rid them of resources to fight. Recently, the Spanish attacked both Ays and Morgan's Bluff. This put us on the defensive and you on the offensive. That works to wear us down and build your morale should you have won. You didn't so it allowed us to push back and try to take the advantage by pushing your front line back. I would have preferred a push on Gasparilla but for other reasons Remedios was chosen. I am not that influential of a player in my nation any longer. By pushing into your territory we hold the advantage as you would have done had you been successful in ours. There is no revenge in it at all. Revenge for what? You attacking Morgans Bluff and Ays? Then were those attacks revenge for our attacks on Islamorada? No, this is just a game of war and so we try to wage it intelligently. Its not personal in the least. To be honest it is easy for the US to adapt to the off hour flips. Many of us knew that we were on a server that would have a higher population of European players and when the port timers were introduced we knew that it meant that we would always be attacking in the middle of the morning or at other odd weekend hours. And that is what we did. We made big pushes on the weekends and were successful. We also knew that those same timers would protect our shores when our community was offline. That was more important to us because we knew we had the sense of purpose that motivated us to attack at your hours. Your nation, though, wasn't interested in good fights. You didn't want to loose ports against us so you set many of your timers to hours that were horrible for us but still bad for you. That was a huge mistake because we were willing to set the alarm clocks and we did, taking those ports out from under you. We did the same to the pirates at the time as well, but they didn't set their timers to times they couldn't defend. So when you ask us to do it for a week, we have. We did it way back then and we did it when the eastern alliance was slamming Florida and Bermuda. We know exactly how it feels but it is something we all accept plain and simple. Players can choose to quit or find a way to still have fun. That is entirely on them. When SORRY reduced us to one port and there was no one left to fight against them, I chose to work on my 1v1 skills and went hunting pirates around Mortimer. I don't allow my game to revolve around port ownership, no matter how much I enjoy PBs, especially now that there is land involved. I have no interest in being a super power. I have always thought it dumb to expand past ones ability to defend. If we are the super power in the game right now(and I speak of our alliance) then it is only temporary. When there is no challenge then people start to get bored. When that happens the other team gets a chance to strike back and regain their losses which is exactly what your alliance is doing right now. Thats how games work, ebb and flow. That was my point about "they aren't always going to be a superpower." Your alliance and particularly the Danes thought of themselves as unbeatable. They were the best and had proven their worth many times over. They were so sure of themselves in this that is was hard for them when they first were beat by our alliance on the day of 7 port battles. When they threatened us while holding out the olive branch and then made a treaty in bad faith they received our anger in the way of both off hour flips but more importantly our no-show flips. When they were subjected to that they knew that they were screwed. They had made a very bad strategic call and they knew what was on the horizon for doing so and so they quit just 2 days later. They lost their super power status and their ability to feel superior in just two days and so they quit. Their super power status was over and we began to hear nothing but complaints about off hour flips to alliance numbers to player bases. They didn't loose gracefully. It was quite the opposite. Their way to regain their status was to accuse others of wanting to ruin the game and treat them like they didn't belong. Instead of highlighting the problems with the mechanics we were insulted and those insults continue to this day in your very post. Of course, we are not innocent and we responded in kind but what else would you expect us to do when we were being told to shove off and that we weren't important and our opinions didn't matter because we weren't the majority? Thinking that we are after empty port battles is naive to say the least. You have convinced yourselves that we are devils and allowed your blood to boil because of it. We however, are just another player that happens to play in a different time zone that wants to enjoy his game like everyone else gets to enjoy theirs.
  24. Bearwall, You have every right to define what you meant by what you said and I will take your word for it but I must say that I have a hard time interpreting what others have said to not mean exactly what I think it means.
  25. You don't know me well so your mistakes are understandable. You are also upset at this whole issue and so am I so I understand the tone in your comment. Let me address some of your points so that we can understand each other better. First, I have been on the testing server but I don't goto it anymore but I would like to. I play primarily out of hotels and download speeds are very slow. The test bed requires me to download it every time I wish to play on it and then download the regular game when I want to switch back. This just isn't practical for me and its annoying. The second point is that I have taken less and less time giving constructive criticism and ideas to the devs but in noway have I stopped. I have lessened my involvement because I know that the devs don't give a crap about what we say. Most get buried under scores of other ideas and and critiques. I can't imagine that the devs have taken the time to read most of them. I would love to participate more but only if the discussion was more constructive and guided. I actually predate sea trials and go back to early testers. I have access to the testing forum where believe it or not it is quite quiet with regards to ideas. This probably means that many of the early testers and some that were brought in later feel some of the same frustrations that I do or they would be posting more. Look at LV's comments and jibes at the devs. Hes given some really good ideas in that forum yet almost all of them have been ignored or at least it appears they have and you can see it in his frustrated comments to the devs in various public threads. My statements about my longevity in game has never been directed to the devs as a reason to do what I think is right or best. I have always believed they have the right to do with their servers as they see fit for their buisness. It has always been to the European community that attacks my presence and my game play as if this server was built only for them and for their pleasure when I existed on this server for over a year before them as many other Americans have. All I have wanted is a discussion that starts with mutual respect because this server is every bit as much mine as it is theirs. It should also start with the understanding that flips that don't lead to relatively equal fights are a problem for the game in the long run and a solution must be had. I don't even mind the solution to split the westerners off as a viable option being discussed or believed in. I only have a problem with that discussion having the foundation that western players don't have any stake on this server. Last but not least. The US server took "revenge" on the Danes for only a short period of time when we flipped ports and didn't show. We didn't do it to anyone else and their are no plans to do it again. Flipping ports during our prime time has nothing to do with revenge, or any other nefarious motive. We simply want to own certain ports and we want some content. Flipping empty ports is not ideal but it is more content then not doing anything at all. The USA has not nearly taken advantage of its night flipping abilities and with the recent addition of 7up's european members we have split our 2 port battles between western time zone and eastern time zones and we have also, for the most part, given them both port battles for the weekend. We haven't done this because of the complaints in the forums but rather to provide content for all our members. Saying that we don't care or I don't care about the game is just not a fair statement at all. I could say the same thing to you because your side presents solutions that attempt to ruin my game and is likely to drive me or others like me away from the game which will also kill the game. I no more want this game to fail then you do. The difference between me an you is that when our coast was flipped at a time that I couldn't be around and I woke up to less green on the map, I didn't choose to quit and therefore contribute in the lessening of the game. Those who quit do more to ruin the game than those who adapt, overcome, and accept that they aren't always going to be the super power in the game.
