  1. Shameless Bump, this would be great to tie in with possible future ship resources, Ammo,Repairs and Provisions.
  2. Hi All, Many of us are familair with POTBS economy which was not bad imo and with some tweaking a variant of that could work here. Anther system to draw ideas from could be Eve's PI system. There are many vids explaining how the system works but basically lets you setup a production cycle or if someone is feeding you raw materials then you can have storage and a higher tier manufacturing cycle etc. Imagine instead of Power Grid and CPU you have Food and Workforce, so you need X amount of workers with X amount of food per hour to run the factory. Anyway more ideas for the Dev's to chew on.
  3. Alex love your work regardless imo we need the Endymion class next... haha
  4. Its the same class as Tricomelee. So bar the name on its rear you have it ingame.
  5. Also a small thing but if we could have the ship damage indicator vertical with front at the top that would be preferable to the current horizontal arrangement.
  6. My thought earlier yesterday. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/3115-ship-repairs-idea-moving-forward/
  7. As per Alex goto your Sound Icon on the bottom right windows task bar pick Mixer and turn the game down.
  8. Hi All, So currently we can repair 3 times in a battle picking Armour,Sails, Rudder or Pump as the repair item. My suggestion is this; Replace the "On use" repairs with a Repair Resource for the moment lets call it "Provisions" Everyone gets 100 and when you enter Survival mode your crew start to use these provisions to repair the ship, allow the player to Focus the repairs as it does currently. That's basically it how much and how fast etc is down to balancing but basically it would be slower than current repairs but last longer, so more like you drop back in the line fight your mates cover you and you repair or you might disengage and repair. doing so in Combat should put you at a disadvantage which is does currently when your plugging leaks in survival this just ties the 2 more closely together. Why; The reason for this is that as we transition into the open world and MMO parts of the game Ammo, Provisisons (including food for crew) etc will become a consideration. Going on a local Patrol? load up on ammo and repairs(spare planks, extra sail, robe etc). Exploring well probably Food and Repairs all with their own weights etc. Bigger ships can carry a more Provisions but that will scale as obviously bigger ships more crew using more Provisions to repair the bigger ship. Simple and allows for tie in with ship resources in the future. Thoughts Team?
  9. Game definetly needs a goto Indiaman for all the budding traders who want some teeth aswell. So many good ships
  10. If you have the arena mode perhaps limit it to ships players own in the main game that way when it's quite or if you just want a quick game you can yet you still have good reason to play the mmo component.
  11. Constitution and some corvettes are plenty for US.
  12. While good in Theory you may end up killing the Game if even 40% of the players are sitting in Arena for it to be workable you need a vibrant open world. Look at the Mistakes of POTBS and the success of Eve for learning points.
  13. Lively is similar to the Leda Class (Trinconmalee) but was reported as being; he captain's reports on the performance of this class were remarkable for their absence of serious criticism. The vessels of the class were fast, recording 13kts large and 10-11kts close-hauled, weatherly and manoeuvrable. They were excellent heavy-weather ships, perfectly able to cope with a "head sea." They stowed their provisions well; they were capable of stowing provisions and freshwater for up to six months of cruising. Indeed "riding light," after a substantial proportion of fresh water and provisions had been consumed, affected their sailing qualities adversely, so that most captains filled any emptied freshwater stowage capacity with seawater. Possible a Good start point heavy Frigate with the Leda being a little faster etc but the lively being more forgiving and better in rough weather.
  14. So it seems the more you look through history its hard to find a bad thing said about any of Jacques design with some even being copied directly by the British after Capture. "Under Sané, 107 identical 74-gun ships of the line of the Téméraire class were built, 35 80-gun and 9 118-gun of the Océan class. The 118-gun Commerce-de-Marseille, captured by the English, was said to "maneuver like a frigate" in spite of her size. Sané also designed numerous classes of smaller warships, including several designs of frigate, to which at least 143 were built. This included four classes of 18-pounder armed frigates (successively the 6-ship Hébé (1782 design), 10-ship Virginie (1793 design), 7-ship Hortense (1801 design) and 54-ship Pallas (1805 design) classes." All Great French Ships with some of these bigger once already in the ship poll running be great to see some of his Frigates aswell. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques-No%C3%ABl_San%C3%A9
  15. Indi (64) and Agamemnon (64) are the same class (Ardent) Hold them over for Later and make the Ardent class with a option to Razee it like the Indi (44) was for most of its career.. Lets see the Dutch 2nd on the water! < referring to the Christian VII as per the last few posters.
  16. they did indeed build more of them but none of the newly built saw action in the american theatre. The original was lauched the same year as constitution. And Captured the USS President after racking it repeatedly with her superior agility as she tried to run due to Endymion having friendly ships a few hours behind.
  17. Looking at what classes were built and when i think Britains response is overstated as they had frigates that could go toe to toe already as per my last post.
  18. Sorry the Hebe resulted in in mostly 18lb frigates like the Leda. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endymion-class_frigate This class was lauched the same year as USS Constitution based on anther French frig. Brits did that alot capture it copy and improve.
  19. The British had Razeed 3rd rate 10 year before the constitution and had also build heavy frigates similar to constitution based on the captured french frigate Hebe prior to their encounter with constitution. US had some good ships but are really just a interesting sidenote in the age of sail.
  20. I hope to see very few US ships being that the US was largely itrelevant in this era more Dutch, French and Spanish boats please.
  21. With how often ships were captured in this period i really see who built them as irrelevant the game will be player vs player not nation vs nation. Saying that many of the British heavy frigates were based on captured french frigates.
  22. Bump for the Lively class, sooo many great Frigates
  23. Nice Keep those Frigtes coming. Coventry Class is what she is but you know that please introduce the ships as there class.
  24. Agamemnon 64 and Indifatigable 64 are both of the Ardent class however the Indi spent most of her career and all the good bits as a Razeed 44 gun heavy frigate. It would be great to have the Ardent class with this option. (Agamemnon 64 or Indifatigable 44) possibly use this as a test bed for the future as i feel its important we have these historical modifications.
