  1. I don't think Nick has ever said anything on the subject, but will there ever be some sort of option for making custom, or using historical, camouflages for your ships? Seeing every ship with the same medium metallic gray look gets kind of tiresome. You could even just do a handful of historical camouflages per country (one or two of the WWII American measures, the white+gold of pre-WWI USN, black+white of the Imperial Russian Navy, etc.) and then let users create new ones, or recreate historical ones, on the Steam workshop.
  2. Doing "Defend Your Convoy" and came across this monstrosity...
  3. Curious to know how refits (not just changing armament and superstructure, but general maintenance + wear and tear repairs) will work in the campaign. HMS Hood was famously years behind on refits when she finally met her fate in 1941; iirc she couldn't even hit her top speed because of the state of her boilers.
  4. Any large warship going beyond 35 knots with early 20th century technology is ludicrous enough
  5. For the devs: On the Japanese Tall Secondary Tower IV, I am unable to mount the dual 5-inch secondary guns that were historically there on Fuso and Yamashiro, because there is no mount.
  6. Absolutely fantastic to hear, really looking forward to it. Thank you for the hotfix as well.
  7. German hulls, towers, and turrets from ~1900 through 1918 are very sorely needed, yeah. A few more US and British hulls from this period would also be welcome. And of course pre-dreadnoughts, but that's been asked for for over a year now, and would just be beating a dead horse.
  8. This is an incredibly minor cosmetic issue, but would it be possible to change the US flag to either a period-accurate flag (depending on the year), as the US didn't have 50 states/stars until 1959? That, or just use the US naval ensign (blue field with white stars).
  9. I've found it depends on the ships. For a lot of variants, yeah. I tried recreating the Indiana-class battleships (America's first pre-dreadnought class) a few days ago and I was coming in like 5 or 6,000 tons overweight. I think I had a similar experience when making Yamato, but I could be confusing it with something else (Iowa, maybe?). But with a few other ships (Littorio, Hood, and Bismarck) I was approximately correct, if not nearly spot-on. The former is probably due to the fact that those hulls are the oldest, plus Nick said they plan on introducing a lot more early-game and cruiser hulls with the campaign patch. So I suppose we'll see.
  10. Is that a secondary on top of a main? When did they ever add this? I've wanted to recreate some of those early American pre-dreadnoughts.
  11. I think Nick said they will be introducing new pre-dreadnought and cruiser hulls for the upcoming campaign patch. So here's hoping.
  12. Wish it wouldnt have taken this long for the update to drop but it's good work nonetheless and I'm enjoying it so far. First thing I've noticed is that the Littorio-style Italian 15-inch guns are only available from 1939 onward (so 1939+1940). The ships were designed in the early 1930s and the first two were laid down in 1934. Is this intentional, an oversight, or a bug? I wasn't sure of whether to report it as a bug in-game, so I'm posting it here instead. I'll keep hunting for other questionable things and bugs etc. On a positive note, I like the addition of shell/propellant modules, as well as a general redo and breakdown of armor schemes, which I think were sorely needed and are a nice addition to the game. EDIT: Forgot to mention that the rate of crew casualties seems to be working pretty well so far. I did my best to quickly create a Littorio-like ship and the crew complement was approximately the same (somewhere around 1700 IIRC; though I couldn't fit the third or fourth 6-inch gun turrets due to spacing issues, but that's more my fault than anything else). I'll keep investigating and doing more testing with it. The new graphics settings are also a welcome addition.
  13. Sad to hear but thank you for keeping us informed!
  14. Presumably. There also may be some sort of health point factor to accommodate for historical situations where ships lost rudder control (Jutland, Ark Royal's attack on Bismarck, and IIRC Guadalcanal). I know that's already sort of a mechanic in game, but it will probably be affected by the new rudder module.
  15. If by drinking you mean playing a WG game, then yes
  16. Some of the earlier patches dropped around noon to 1pm my time, so an hour to two hours from now. I think we still have some time. Though I can easily imagine them delaying it to the last possible moment (tomorrow) so they can make sure everything is right.
  17. Oh damn, really? That's a good sign. Fingers crossed.
  18. So I'm guessing that's a "no" for this week?
  19. That's my bet. probably a few more hulls. iirc they did that for the Pocket battleship update back in March or April or whenever that was; they added like 6 or 7 more hulls between initial patch announcement and its release. Eventually I'm hoping for some American battleship hulls/designs from the 1910s, American cruisers from the 30s (especially those heavy cruisers), more options for WWI-era German dreadnoughts, pre-dreadnoughts across the board, and of course more destroyers.
  20. Sometimes patches aren't released until later in the day. We still have a few more hours. Cross your fingers.
  21. I think a lot of this is moot if you just want to "roleplay" and avoid min-maxing while playing the campaign. Like, yeah, I'm going to design some awful ships in the campaign, because historically many countries designed bad ships and subsequently paid the price.
  22. Chances are it'll drop this coming Monday or the next.
  23. With respect, I don't. It's nice to have some new hulls I suppose, but they should really focus on pre-dreadnoughts now imo, with maybe some late WWI/interwar designs thrown in. What's the point of putting the start date at 1890 if there are literally only 3 or 4 pre-dreadnought hulls in the entire game?
  24. I'm mostly in the same camp with everyone here, apparently. Would it be awesome to have? Yeah. Workable at the game's current state? No. It would be a monster of new mechanics and content to add that would all but halt development progress on the reason why we bought this game in the first place (designing surface combat ships in a dynamic campaign spanning decades). Maybe if main development on the campaign and other assets is finished, but not now.
