It looks like an alaska of somekind, at least with the square like rear of the ship making it look more american. We could do with more supercruiser hulls too be honest and pieces (and well other ships as well really).

Nah, that rear square looks like "american", but the rest is more Japanese, for example rear part of the ships isn't covered in the wood or whatever they were using, just like in the Yamato.

Superstructure looks to me like some modified Zao superstructure, basically everything except for that rear square looks more Japanese for me.

At least where I am things have been pretty gloomy lately and this forum has been quite divided as well, so why not a simple topic?

What school of thought will you follow in the campaign? Decisive battle? Trade indirection? Fleet in being (if AI allows Fleet In Being to be a viable tactic)

Torpedos? (Like what Japan did with the Long Lance) or guns?

Large long range ships where you can. Face the enemy ships on your terms, or shorter range smaller ships with less flexibility but you can build more?

Ships with many turrets so it's harder to knock out all of your guns, or ships with fewer turrets with more guns per turret for better weight dispersion?

Basically what types of ships will you design and what is the thought process behind your naval strategy?

I just want to recreate historical ships, including those that never left dockyard and draft table, modify them a bit and have fun.

Torpedo reloads have been only limited in last update. If people can play with only one torpedo reload, we might lower further.

I think torpedo magazine should be divided into four choices:

    1. No reload (so you just gonna fire only one salvo of torpedoes that are already loaded into the tubes)

    2. One reload (like IJN Destroyers and Cruisers)

    3. Two reloads .

    4. Three reloads.

Torpedo boats should be limited only to No Reload or eventually One Reload, due to their smaller size and displacement in comparision to the DDs and etc.

Three reloads should be available only to Super Cruisers, Battlecruisers and Battleships.

I think it would be more realistic and balanced.

    EDIT: @Latur Husky

I just realized that he already proposed that idea.... ops

Ye it happens on your own ships as well, i've only ever seen it on german ships but their gun barrels will clip right through the bridge.

    german engineering i guess lol.

I had the same situation with rear turrets on US ships, it's pretty old bug.

  5. The most beautiful ship designed by AI I have ever seen in this game:

@Nick Thomadis In mission Wounded Beast, could you change those two Battlecruisers from two separate designs into a single one? Usually, it's one BC having top speed of 27,5 knots while the other one top speed is at 32 knots, it would be much better if they would have the same speed.

I guess it depends on the model and if they can cannibilise, guessing something like london and california would be far longer to do than another pre-dread or something like izmail for example.

And going further doing something like alaska or stalingrad would probs take even longer, but im not sure how quickly they can pump out models too be honest.

Ma boy no Stalingrad talks here pls 😧

Probs the former as they can test out invasions and longer range vessels and how they work. although they might go the latter, but i doubt it would speed up production. I wonder if we will get a few more hulls before and during the steam release?

Yea, like one new hull for each update wouldn't hurt anyone I think... that also brings me to other question: How long does it take to make one hull and Superstructure related to it for UA:D...

(sigh) I wished to receive campaing until end of June. Well now it looks like we will get it as christmas present.

    Anyway thanks for informing us.

I have a few questions: What are those 2 nations playable first? (if it's already known)

About those promised patch notes: Will these include screenshots? And when can we expect first of these notes?

I bet USA & Japan or UK & Germany.

I can't remember the other person, but the line version sounds better too be honest, means you can slide the components up and down with far greater precision, good for dem odd designs too.

Are we going to start the predictions for the campaign? lol.

Yeah and tools to extend the length and width of hulls and maybe even towers, turrets, barrels etc. would be cool. I think @HusariuS Made a really cool idea of having a giant line on the hull instead of the placement points we have now, which would give us a lot more freedom, plus having the towers split into 2's maybe 3's would be cool and when you select a tower you can choose from say like 3 different ones for aesthetic reasons.

shame the modular builder isn't a thing looked really cool as well.

At least two people (including me) proposed idea of using "Line" system instead of "placement points", there was also one guy that enhanced "placement points" by adding more than we have currently (basically, it was Line but with Points.).

  11. There are people that like CVs and those that dislike CVs, and there is one very simple solution of creating one button in the campaign options that will disable ability of researching CVs and any "CV Technology" for both Players and AI.

Same goes for planes launched from non-CV ships (Disabling both option should also disable ability for researching AA technology for both Players and AI.) like Cruisers or Battleships, if you don't want them, just click this one simple button blocking some technology from researching by AI and Players.

  12. Well, I wouldn't say AI is much better at designing ships, but definitely better than previously.

Some AI designs from US Super Battleship mission:

    6QRLJJa.png

Ok, this look a little bit scary to me:

    x4vy0lW.png

They are not perfect, and AI still lack logical thinking in designing a ship (Like why the hello kitty this funnel is behind a second tower? Why is it even possible? xD), but they are definitely better.

    P.S.

There was also one more DD that I forgot to screenshot, it basically was very similar to typical IJN Destroyer from Fubuki-class and etc. with the difference of the X turret being in the middle section of the ship instead of the rear.

EDIT: I hate censorship replacing my X words with "Hello Kitty"

What exactly is needed to change? Can you clarify?

What about increasing Cost and Hull Weight for Number of Bulkheads by 10-25% and increased penalty for available tonnage?

Increasing Cost and Hull Weight for Reinforced Bulkheads modification by 25-50% could also be a nice idea.

They should also affect maximum speed of the ship and Engine Efficiency, because thicker armor means heavier ship and heavier ship means more horse power needed.

Yep. Absolutely need more hulls. Especially pre-dreadnought bb and protected cruiser hulls. I wouldn't mind seeing those early US pre-dreadnought battleship hulls, like the Indiana, Kearsarge etc...  And those odd french armored and protected cruiser hulls too. Unique turret for every nation would be also very important, because what we have for the early japanese dreadnoughts are just inaccurate and does not fit on the hull. Basically I can not design a Kawachi because the 305 mm gun turrets are overlapping with the hull. So this should be fixed too.

Makes me wonder if we will get more than whats already posted, since we havent got an actual alpha 7 update section yet.

Yea, I hope they will focus mainly on fixing bugs, repairing/changing/modifying/improving currently existing mechanics (like armor scheme), adding new mechanics, and much less focus on adding new hull types as we have them pretty much good enough number of them for the upcoming campaign (although I wouldn't mind adding new superstructures, funnels, etc.).
