  1. i had a close one now at Stones River. Played it like 5 times and succeeded in the end. Start a new campaign, watch the videos and you will see it will go better each time you play.
  2. Oke i won, i went the same way as LAVA and History Guy went and it worked. I did lost 13.000 men but happy to take it because my army still is 50.000+ so i can continue the campaign. Video will be up soon, Blackwater is next!
  3. I salute you sir! A fine display of tactic and movement. The first day was almost perfectly executed! I agree with you on the attack on the Southern objective.. But still a great victory mate, with few losses. You dropped from 20.000 to 12.000 casualties by going this tactic. Credit also goes to the History Guy of course, will definitely try this out with the input of cavalry. One major difference i face, how come the Union cavalry starts to harass me? Both you and History Guy seems to be left alone by the Union cavalry
  4. yaaay! there is still hope! can't wait to watch the video.
  5. so had i waited i would have won on day 1? Damn.. oh well, i still had like 20.000 losses which is too high for my taste.
  6. so there is no way to win the battle of Stones River on day one even if you capture all the objectives? Or did i had to wait the timer to tick of ( contested ) and then press finish? If so i have fucked myself over lol. I think the approach i took could work, it just needs a lot of micromanagement. I took all my forces and deployed them in the South-East. I left the northern woods in the beginning phase alone, i focused on the southern Union forces. I surrounded them, distracted them and struck hard. Took 4 supply trains. I annihilated all the cavalry on the top left corner, i cornered and hunted them down with 2 brigades and 4 skirmisher units. I guess i took most of the casualties in taking over the spot just below the main objectives. It was heavily massed with Union brigades, but i still fought them and eventually beat them out of the woods with heavy casualties. I then attacked the main objectives and took them, pressed finish and tada it went to day 2.
  7. alright, i have abandoned another battle of Stones River. I started good, i routed and killed like 40.000 Union troops on the first day alone. I forgot this was a multi day battle so i attacked and captured both points with heavy losses. I clicked on finish thinking i had won but it started the second day, i had lost all my captured ground and i had to start all over again with my forces dropped to 34.000 and the Union at 30.000... i said fuck it, i hate this thing when it brings you back to a start point despite taking the objectives. I have lost motivation to fight this battle over and over again. Unless i find a good tactic to win this i might consider stopping an end to the Legendary CSA campaign. History guys approach is good, but he faces less troops and less big sized brigades. He faces 1500- brigades while i face 2500+ brigades.
  8. I have watched his videos on Stones River, however he only has 1 or 2 videos on Legendary. I am not sure which one i had watched, but he made frontal assaults on the southern woods. I have tried a similar approach, but i tried surrounding them but was distracted in the north. Perhaps the units deployed in the north should stay in the woods or move south to kill the southern Union troops. If they sit idle, you may not be able to inflict casualties or destroy the Southern Union troops. Not to mention he talks about replenishing his army ( he has 20.000+ ) men not deployed.
  9. how did you approach it? 17.000 is too high, we might not be able to recover from such losses with still plenty of big battles ahead.
  10. alright, i tried several approached but i failed to get a low casualty win. I just tried swinging 5 brigades to the left to encircle. The cavalry used hit and run tactics all the way so i could not form a battle line. I lost lots of troops, and even got units routed and one veteran unit got destroyed by the cavalry I am out of options man. Really can't seem to find a way to win it the way i want.
  11. now that is a huge difference, i tried like 4 times to use Col Kelly's tactic and all failed. Now i understand why.. I tried to swing left with 5 brigades to surround the souther Union forces, but those damn Yankee cavalry on the left kept harassing me.
  12. great work man, is this going to work on a ongoing campaign? Or is the advise to test it on a new fresh campaign?
  13. it is historic that CSA had a lesser chance on winning the war, Union had better troops, more cash and plenty of guns and reserves. CSA is meant to be more challenging, Legendary is near impossible.
  14. I have the feeling the other parts of the map get opened too early. It happens before i even get all my forces in the trees and set a defensive line. Might have to try again.
  15. i still believe you should get recruits instead of artillery, you won't need that much artillery at Stones River. I still can't beat Stones River.. tried multiple times and ways, i tried the fast approach and try the slow approach. Both did not work. You will need many brigades to cut of the southern Union troops with the North, not to mention the 8 like 750+ cavalry brigades who create havoc at the flanks.
  16. well that's the thing, it says 45-51K...
  17. this is what i face at Stones River, i figure your numbers will be around the same.
  18. I watched your Fredericksburg battle video on YouTube mate, good win with a heavy cost but still it is a good win. You did better than me, lost fewer casualties and killed more Yanks. Something tells me that the amount of Federal troops is scripted on Legendary, the Union army in your battle and my battle are exactly the same amount of infantry, cavalry and artillery. No matter how many you kill before Fredericksburg we still got the same amount of Union troops. I am yet to fight Stones River, and we have around the same amount of troops i think. Maybe you have 4000-5000 less but that is not a big difference.
  19. Have you got a video of your Fredericksburg battle? Money is not an issue indeed, i face the same problem. I keep getting stuck at around 50.000 men, i remember that this number will not be enough to get an easy victory at Washington.. many big battles are ahead of us.
  20. Lava is right, just go on and finish the campaign. I finished the campaign on all levels for both Union and CSA except Legendary. It is a step by step process with a learning curve.
  21. not sure about that, i have watched all different tactics on Stones River. Not that many that count on Legendary mode, i think i will go for the speed tactic used by Col Kelly.
  22. No, this is what i have now: And this is my army at Stones River, i plan to cut the Union i half and prevent them from going north as Col. Kelly plays it.
  23. I messed up Everettsville.. lost too many guys, my pre battle save was gone somehow lol. I had to buy extra recruits to get my army together. Now i need to fight Stones River. I also forgot to record the battle.
  24. So you are going to continue from this battle? Or the other one? Really impressive work though, to go on full attack in the first phase and continue it throughout the whole battle. You nearly wiped out the Union army there. Now on to Fredericksburg
