  1. I will get the books eventually and you don't have to have them anyway. It's all good. I'm looking forward to release. It just seems funny to me that people keep going on about 'level playing fields' which is just nonsense. Their is nothing 'fair' about any of it as I have already explained (and I'm not talking about me, I am a very active player, I will probably get the books faster than many others). As admin has already said in the thread about the xp wipe, it's not being done because it IS fair, it's being done because it LOOKS fair. I kinda understand that, so ok, but most of us know that in reality it's just a pointless pain in the arse for us testers and it does irritates me a tiny little bit when people don't see the obvious and bleat out platitudes about 'wipes are inevitable' and 'stop crying' because they failed to work that out. One might also argue that it might alienate some of the current player base who are simply not prepared to do all the grind again. We will see. Nuff said, Signing Off
  2. You don't need Art of Ship Handling to sink noobs. In fact it might be the fastest way to grind it all back!
  3. Yes, that was actually my point, people seem to be focusing on the 'redeemable' bit I put in brackets. My point was that people are suggesting that resetting book knowledge somehow creates a level playing field for new players when of course we all know it doesn't
  4. BTW its NOT the same for everyone: Don't kid yourselves about 'fairness'. Clan leaders, big names, Admin's pets will have all the books back in weeks given to them by minions, (probably as redeemables from Admin some of them!). Solo and new players will have to grind them all back, with hours and hours of game play over months or longer if RNG gods are unkind. There will be nothing 'fair' or 'equal 'about any of it. While the content of the post stays as is, there are no privileged ones other than in your "head". Warning issued. - the Moderation team -
  5. Yes we will. There will always be 'newcomers' and we will always have that advantage. It's just now we have to do the boring grind all over to get back to exactly the same state again. If you are saying don't have books and don't have advantages, I am with you. But this is just pointless extra grind to revert back to exactly how it already is
  6. Boo! I don't see the point in this. Big boring pause on the War server now while everyone puts effort into grinding books back up, and get back to pretty much exactly how it already was. instead of doing other stuff that would have made the server more exciting. Waste of time imo
  7. It's a good idea. I had a similar one for an Outlaw Pirate 'Nation' and this post reminded me of it so I have posted my idea too. I think this could work, good luck.
  8. An Outlaw Pirate Nation I had this idea: If I wasn't going to be doing other stuff in game I would probably have tried it, but I am, so I won't. But I thought I would share the idea in case someone else wanted to do it: Ever said 'The Pirates shouldn't be a Nation'? Want to play in Outlaw Solo Pirate style and not really interested in being in a clan? but might enjoy a more loose association with players who play NA in a similar way? Current Clan focused Game Mechanics can deprive solo players of content and/or the resources they will need. Outlaw Pirate Nation solves this! How it would work work: One player creates a clan 'OUTLW' in Pirate Nation. No Officers. No rules. Solo Pirate players join and there's your nation. Some Rules for creator only: RULE 1. Any and Every Pirate can join. If a player asks for an Invite they get sent an invite, no convo required, no exceptions (unless it's full - see below). Just as if it's the new player loading screen, just like you can't control who joins the Pirates you can't control who joins OUTLW either, it's completely open, it's a NATION. RULE 2. You can't be kicked from OUTLW, no matter what. If you are in you are in unless you leave, no exceptions apart from rule 3 below. RULE 3. Once per the Month any member that has not logged on for one month gets kicked, no exceptions. (of course you can always rejoin anyway). RULE 4. The creator is responsible for liaising with Pirate Clans to get on friendly clan list so Outlaws can have access to Port Bonuses and rare woods etc. In return they can provide PB players, screening fleets, provide Mercenary Services or pay money, tax etc. Whatever, sky's the limit. If managed well this could provide a valuable extra asset to the 'host' Pirate clan and some fun content for the Outlaws. Clan chat: This is now essentially Outlaw Pirate 'Nation' chat. Share intel, arrange events, hunting fleets, goods exchanges etc with other members of the nation, exactly like any other Nation chat. Black Market: at a set time or whenever convenient you could have the ability to exchange (barter) goods within the nation. The CWH acts as a market for those goods to be stored and exchanged by the creator. You might need a spreadsheet/discord channel to arrange exchanges, requests for goods etc. It could be simple or a really complex busy trading hub, depending on how much time the creator has to manage it. And there you go: A NATION of solo outlaw Pirates! Done!
  9. Would have been a good idea. There was a big thread on precisely this some time ago. It got shouted down by those who didn't like the idea of not being able to tag an kill noobs at will.
  10. I don't think 'release' necessarily means the end of development does it? Games like Eve have constant updates and balance passes, its an ongoing process for them. There's is a sub model of course but If NA becomes popular and the possibility exists to continue to attract new players/purchasers, then it would make financial sense to continue developing the game and keep it fresh and keep adding new content (or to begin to develop NA2 perhaps?) RE: full wipe, yes we all have an advantage through experience as it is, but if books are wiped then it wont be long before the same players have all the books again anyway, so why bother to make us go through the grind and have to pray to the RNG loot gods all over again? New players will see it as fairer yes, but I think it would be better for new players to enter a dynamic, exciting server where established clans and players are already at war and starting their empire building, instead of carebearing, hoping for Notes on Rudder Angles to drop. There are alway newer players who are playing catch up anyway. I'm glad we are at release. This limbo state is frustrating and saps enthusiasm. The prospect of more book grind, I get tired just thinking about it. People are all tested out and want to start playing the game for real finally. New clans will be forming and recruiting, youtube vids and twitch streams will pick up, it all creates a buzz and not having to worry about books leaves us all with a bit more energy to get the most important aspect of the game going again and that's a dynamic, enthusiastic community.
  11. Its a nice idea though. There could also be a plagues which can be transmitted from ship to ship and/or from port to port with the exchange of certain 'contaminated' goods. I think we moved away from this kind of sandbox thing a long time ago though. Shame imo
  12. Oh shit sorry, wrong thread, I thought this was the shit talk thread How you know so much about me? I was not even very interested in RvR. I joined way before this Port Bonus shite which has kinda forced me (and everyone else) into it and way after Havoc had gone into hiatus anyway. If I join Denmark after release then you will have had a point, until then, that is just bollox.
  13. I have no comment. Your comments are worthless as you hide in the forum without in-game name, probably like you hide in battle
  14. oh ffs!. 1. You are obsessed with HAVOC....all 3 of them. That may well have been the case in the past, but it certainly isn't now. 2. that was precisely my point anyway, win or lose, at least we would have done so on our own two feet. 3. AND Most importantly! That post was just shit talk, planned to get a rise out of REDS and/or NN and you just went and ruined it. Whose side are you on?
  15. Thought they were so big and clever and could look after themselves... so Daddy didn't make any Outposts in Cartagena? but it appears they're not managing so well on their own after all. Go on, go ask Daddy for help, there's no shame in it....you tried
  16. With boarding, sailing and gunnery all active a repair can last up to 7 or 8 mins, so when its complete you have another in 2-3 mins time. You also might have to take into account these Port bonused Frankenstein ships that are sailing around atm. They repair an insane amount. I don't think so no.
  17. You are right (sort of), but not the particular skill set I was referring to there. This has nothing to do with Russia or GB or anyone else. As always, I am simply asking: Do we want Battles to be decided by resource gathering or by Captain's ship skills and tactics? atm it is the former, my vote would be for the latter.
  18. Hey man, its still there I'm not complaining about the result, and I agree with what you say. I fully acknowledge that Russia have done a better (or at least faster) job on Port Bonuses. Just pointing out that that was what dictated the result of the battle and not 'skill' as some idiots were suggesting. Wondering if this is what we all really want? I couldn't be there unfortunately but I cant say I am that sad about that, such one sided battles are boring.
  19. Result says absolutely nothing about player skill or fleet tactics, only about the effective gathering of resources. Looks like admin has at least toned this down in next patch
  20. ....and now....alts can set hostility missions and other nation can join the mission to run hostility. So the whole 'front lines' system is broken anyway. I rest my case.
  21. A much better way of doing it. NN essentially hold nearly the entire Gulf and Brits have most of Central America already. We've already had a hotfix to increase number of Ports that can be reached and then a route from Marsh Harbour to Bermuda, meant to patch up obvious defects, but just throwing up more. This entire patch seems half-arsed and rushed to me.
  22. I did a tiny bit of research. It seems that substantial modifications and refitting were indeed made to captured French and Spanish ships before being commissioned into the Royal Navy..
  23. Dutch and Polish nations are both under populated atm. Spanish less so. GB are over populated but with many noobs. Pirates tend to have more noobs too. Russia are over populated but with more experienced players.
