  1. To Marques Look, I get it. Espana has lost a TONNE of ports. I sympathize. I do. Been there, done that. Its hard to keep a stiff jaw and continue to endure what most likely seems like a targetting by everyone NOT in a yellow and red flag, but, as others have mentioned, Espana started out w/everything everyone else started out with x3 or more. Saying that one nation is favored by THIS specific dev team is comical when you look at the map and the territories Danes/Sweden were given. Dont get me wrong, I was a mouse click away from joining the Swedes, because it just looked wickedly fun being that small, and Ive made more than one mention about it here and elsewhere. My advice is stop the woe-is-me banter. That only feeds into itself and creates conspiracy theories that weave around and around until they strangle those that it touches.
  2. Hogwash Tech problems, I can potentially understand, I can toss a bone on that, simply because of financial reasons, holding/operating servers required for having everyone together may be more expensive, at least according to general conversations on the interwebs. PvE, PvP, RvR reasons, is not a reason. Its a decision, one, I dont agree with, and not because I'm a hardcore PvP'er, because generally speaking Im not. But, the vastness, the massive size of the map, the simple fact that we all know of certain areas on the map, that no-one outside of your specific nation ever goes that is more than capable of providing trade, PvE, economy, grouping of any type and never be deterred by someone of another faction. There's spots on the map, I've been on w/more than nation that I've played, attacked AI, traded, just wandered around and haven't seen a soul for 4hrs. Saying that PvE players need a specific 'don't touch me server' is just not correct.
  3. What needs to be grasped here is that ceasefires, and treaties of ANY sort are mainly over ports, not open world sailing. Trying to dictate a ceasefire over the whole open world of any nations "territorial waters" is not going to lead to anywhere good for anyone. Be it the clan sailing from pt A to pt B or which ever national clan is trying to say in national chat "let US, Brits, French, ect ect" free passage thru our waters. 1st off, those sailing through should never expect free passage by whoever wishes to tackle them, INCLUDING treatied clans. but to expect Joe Blow to not give it a shot is just silly. I see a flotilla in my area, I'm gonna give it a go and see what happens. Reinforcements may or may not come!! 2nd off, for the clans trying to tell a nation, "hey, give these guys a free pass" is only going to create negative results towards xxx clan, and I think for the most part all of us here, enjoy the RvR aspect of the game, and in so doing, want, ney, need a friendly nation to draw people from to get involved in RvR and into clans. None of us benefit per say from randoms and solo people. As a whole we all benefit from clans, societies, alliances w/in our nations towards working towards what as a vast majority we may want for our national selection of nations. Im 'somewhat' okay w/treaties. I kind of get it, I dont personally like it, but thats okay. I can play along. Having said that, I think that treaties beyond ports is going to lead to alot of problems for everyone. Ports are never really seriously going to be in danger from the average unorganized population. So clan/nation X saying Port A is off limits is not an issue. However, if clan/nation X thinks sailing past my capitol under a "truce banner" is going to fly, thats a whole different animal. You want to go from Pt A to Pt B come expecting trouble. Dont walk thru South Chicago w/a white flag thinking "oh, I'm fine, I'm fine, they know I come in peace"
  4. I'm w/LeBoiteux Not overly fond of city names for a world Im partial to Greek/Roman water Gods/mythological names for the servers, but thats me. I AM however, curious as to why there is not a complete merging of servers aka EVE? Not exactly sure why we've got a PvE server or a server such as US1-2 when ping is such a non-issue, grats on that part btw, thats like a Nobel Peace prize for the interwebs. Has merging servers been looked at again? Reconsidered? I just think the vastness of the world would lend itself much better to everyone being on one server.
  5. W/out knowing exactly what the devs have in mind for 'political involvement' on their part, I think in a game of this size it 1) wont be necessary 2) wont work well 3) would be better handled by the players in game. 4) not sure I want the devs saying, "Dutch are now allied w/French, or Spanish (or whoever). I like that my enemy atm is close by. I do think that having soo many factions was a good idea though. So often games go w/just simple 3ways and since we've got so many more it helps create some nice randomness that may be creatively used by us as players. What I do see playing out depending on population and overall aggressiveness of whoever gathering up all the ports plenty of options for alliances to prevent map wins, much like happened in PoTBS when someone would get close to victory conditions. Now if say for instance, the map just stagnates for an extended period of time, than sure, lets see what the devs have in mind, but until than, lets see what we can make of the tools we can use before us.
  6. Hold on, let me get this straight, you're now worried you're going to lose your NavyBrig to a basic cutter? Well, sir, you DESERVE to lose that navybrig than if you're going to lose it to a cutter. Get gud. Not sure how 3 ships became a "horde", but okay, lets go w/that. Now you're losing a Navybrig to 3 ships? A ship that can simply sail away before anything serious happens to it if perhaps its attacked by *gasp* 5 basic cutters? An exceptional Navybrig taken out by a basic cutter, oh please post that on youtube if it happens. Theres nothing in the rulebooks that say, "pirates are only allowed to use basic cutters, while nationals must use ships of value higher than free to defend territorial waters". Grab a beer, wine, coffee, glass of water, and 2 people in /chat and, sail out of ANY port w/a basic cutter and boom!!!!! Content!!! And, you didnt even have to leave the eastern time zone to accomplish it.
  7. Take heart sir, For I as well, left another nation to create a new, improved experience with the Dutch. I gave all my assets to a friendly person (because I'm just sweet like that), and walla, here I am. Left Willamsted and within 20m I was sailing a brand new British Traders Brig that had sailed too far off course. If not with the Dutch, (which could be a tragic mistake on anyones part btw) do take one thing away. This is certainly a great game for clans/societies/companies or whatever other term you wish to use. Join one, get involved w/RvR, conquest, missions, general fleet ops w/someone, anyone, but be aware, the color at the end of the day everyone will be wearing will be Oranje!! Good times are to be had. Not to mention, its alpha, nows the time to get settled in. Long before 6 months from now you're saying to yourself, "oh jeez, why am I on here w/these guys?"
  8. Explain again how someone in a traders ship or higher is a "newer" player again please. Were they given the ship via some kind of SRP the USN has nation wide? The simple act of leaving port on a PvP server signifies you've consented to PvP and I do believe Gaspar has thrown down the gauntlet. "If you dont like it, come do something about it" Otherwise, theres a perfectly good teleport system in place to make sure you're in a "safe hisec system". Complaining about cutter v cutter (or higher) fights is not exactly sympathy worthy. Its not going to be pretty when RvR gets going full swing and all the neutral ports are divided up and ports/ships/territory of REAL value comes into contention.
  9. Not sure where attacking basic cutters w/a larger ship on a PvP server should be frowned upon really. I'll take those kind of fights all day long in my basic. Its nothing but a win-win really. You get xp/gp and experience essentially for FREE!! With the cost of repairs the fact that anyone would take on basics is rather humorous really. Granted being attacked by something probably 3rd rate and higher would significantly change the scenario however. All that being said, I dont care enough to look for it, but I'm 95% certain someplace around here the dev team said 'griefing' newbies outside of capitols is not acceptable behavior and can be punishable. One would assume that if you feel taken advantage of or being purposely grieved outside a zone of capitol control than file a report. that last paragraph was for new players, not specifically for Justme. I know Justme isnt a new player and is not concerned HE is being victimized. It was more a PSA not directed at any particular person.
  10. Not that boxed wine is top shelf or anything, but wow, Kraft singles? Do those things even count as "cheese"? I thought those things were solidified oil in plastic.
