  1. This aspect of gaming has been discussed to nauseam, but you will never, ever infinity get PvE'ers to PvP. EVAR. Being upset, pissed, hoping, begging whatever it doesnt matter. They wont do it. Its better to just assume they dont exist. Think of them as AI w/classy ships. Even if by some miracle the devs gave everyone free ships for all time and said "go nuts we're fabulously wealthy and do this for fun" you would never see the PvE'ers in a battle. Wouldnt matter if all we had was WS or any other capitol. They'd simply dock up and log out or re-roll. And to be fair, its not like they're complaining about ports being taken. Most, if not all the people I see in very large ships I've never even seen/heard of on nation chat. So its not like they're trolling chat w/"OMG we've lost another port, yada-yada-yada" I'd understand if we had a massive amount of inner-nation trolling by the PvE crowd, but we dont. There are those unwilling to join for a variety of reason and talk in chat, but they're not trolling, they're simply rationalizing why they personally arent going. And to add to this, even if by some act the devs removed the AI fleets the PvE crowd attacks and our only resources were other players, you'd never see those PvE'ers in battles.
  2. Yeah, I've suggested a couple of times to possibly get the councils to agree to say a Monday/Thursday off or Monday/Weds kind of thing, off to PB fights, so that people can do say, missions or just mess around w/life or other games or what have you. Maybe its been suggested, maybe not. Maybe it sounds good in my mind but isnt that special an idea. /shrugs
  3. I'm w/Johanna Zoutman on the hours spent and rank Its painful to log in and doing missions. I just cant do it. I try, but I get about 2 in before I'm walking away from the computer and doing something else. Chores even or just raiding traders for 8xp and their cargo. I dont mind doing missions if I'm w/people. I rather enjoy it, but solo.... pfft.. BORING. I giggle when I use Steam to log in and say, "Gawd really? I've got 400hrs in this and I'm in a S'priz?" But, OTOH, I like screening fleets and small fleet PvP. I would actually like it if they did something like PoTBS did and we could possible figure out a mechanic as a community to allow us to 5v5 w/out interference. Especially since theres no true need for smuggling and port supply system in place. And, I would solo PvP but these style of games arent my forte, more twitch skills than umm.. this style, which I'm at a brain loss for the term. Like I said, I like the PvP in small groups though. Also, to his point. Yeah, the general population of Orange wearers need to at least fill in some spots and at minimum toss some balls down range. PvP in this game is really very easy to get into, and to get away from except for very rare occasions.
  4. I tell ya, this whole "servant", "puppet", "pawn" card sure gets shuffled back into the deck an awful lot. If I was at a casino I'd really question the honesty of the dealer.
  5. Awesome Which to me is hysterical, because everyone X's up. I X up w/Friendship is Magic and whenever I enter a port its my calling card
  6. The flames in this thread are going to be used as an example of global warming.
  7. Not trying to be rude, but... I've got absolutely NO clue what this even means, and Google simply references some Borneo comment. Is this some kind of Dutch saying or idiom or a reference to another game or something? I dont get it.
  8. Enough talk. I didnt sign up to this game to join a debate class. Did enough of that in school. Nor to do missions all day. Let loose the dogs of war!!
  9. May I suggest/comment English captioning in the beginning after the French. Second music piece was rather Irish sounding for a French fleet Nice editing though. Hour long fights are too long to watch. Nj thanks for posting
  10. Are you freakin' shitting me w/a "especial to pure Dutch clans" passport gaming card request? Now we're requesting blood testing of authenticity to play nations, races, genders in MMOs? Of all the different directions you could take. Arguments you could state about making peace w/the another faction you're throwing out a "pure Dutch clans" card. What kind of completely off course comment is that? So by your same dipshi.... logic than only pure French clans, pure British clans, purely Spanish, US clans could negotiate anything. From here on out. Thats right up there on a lists of things I've seen on forums, internet logic thinking that really makes me scratch my head and ponder the color of the sky, the fate of ..... "Behind their back" Illuminati confirmed. I guess. So 4 days after an "online agreement" is behind their back now? What is the timeline thats more acceptable to you and all these people? A full week? Or should it be 168hrs because offline time counts as well? Or is it closer to a month?
  11. "May the seas bend to your journey" Zoraida Cordova ----------------------------------------------------- Sailed w/Grim in PoTBS, and have sailed against him here. Always a fun fight. Not one of those uptight types. Been in a few fights against his clan mates. If you want some good fights w/out piss and vinegar, you dont need to look further. These lads will bring you action w/out the drama. Nothing wrong w/laughing regardless of how a fight turns out for either side. Which you'll find here in my experience.
  12. That sound of "shoosh" over your head is you completely missing the point of my post. I'm real unclear how PvP in Snows or smaller is some how a "fuckup". Ofc they handle differently than bigger ships. Thats of zero importance to what I was saying. I think I clearly stated my beliefs as to why smaller ships (Snows, ect) is a decent target area for OW PvP. Trin and lower is WAY to diverse a range. You might as well say "Trins only in OW PvP". Why or in what world, baring bell curve scenarios is a Cerb going to withstand a 1v1 vs a Trin? And you can apply that to every ship up/down to the Trin. The thing w/Snows and lower is that they're relatively even. You can make arguments for each ship in the Snows range. As to the "players learn nothing". Hogwash. They learn that OW PvP can be fun. Inexpensive. Relatively quick to get into. Populated because well, yeah, they dont have to grind for a month or more. Imagine playing Call of Duty, Team Fortress, ect ect where you had to grind for a month, 2 months before you get a rifle. Heres a thought, give them instance assess to PvP instead of grinding times and you just might get some action. Besides, my suggestion isnt to "teach players". This isnt a University of Phoenix program. But, I'm thinking my class would have a higher enrollment than yours would.
  13. I never said anything about "ganking newer players" what I said was that OW PvP w/ships of Snow size and smaller can, in my mind, lead to the best environment to cost effective OW PvP action. 1) No-one is going to be pissed about losing a Snow, Brig or smaller. Its cheap. Easy to obtain w/either OW captures or purchases. 2) Cheap ships allows the crafter to get sales on ships other than the most massive ones. Building 6 Snows a week is alot more effective than 2 Trins. 3) OW PvP w/the biggest ships just means its OW PvP w/the biggest ships. Thats it. Period. Everyone will be sailing 3rds. Why would I take my Cerb out when I'm just going to run into a group of 3's? I run into a group of Snows or smaller, what the hell do I care? Its a damn Snow. Its whats generally available to anyone 2week or less in the game. 4) Most importantly, Snow and smaller gets the most bang for the buck w/the most people participating. Big ships = end-game, grinders, number crunchers, elitism and the least amount of activity/population. End game = less population, plain and simple. ------------------------------------------- Best activity and party atmosphere we had I recall was just shy of 2 weeks ago when there was a call for small fleets to form up and sail east. Best participation too. When we had probably 80% or higher participation of the Dutch getting in anything they could and sailing to Macaraneo/ La Orchilla / Pamp for screening, PB fleet, and to just be a nuisance. TS was buzzing, Nation chat was buzzing, everyone was all happy and having a good time just doing PvP and being an active participant in the outcome of THEIR nation. If you want that kind of buzz being generated not just in-game, but on STEAM and w/those players to their friends list on Steam than make the OW PvP Snows and smaller. You want to tell your friends "Hey, come to NA, its wicked fun, but yeah, well, you're going to have to grind for 3-4 weeks to get into a 3rd rate and get into PvP"? We can all probably name games that require grinding to get "into the shit". Whether or not some/all of those believes are true or not is not important. Its that they are believed to be true. If the best ship is considered the best ship, well, no reason to sail anything else is there? Solo non-clan affiliated players most likely arent going to get involved w/top dog PvP'ing if their best ship, that took them forever in a day to obtain is vulnerable to being sunk. But, if that same player, logs on say, 2 hrs every other nite is only risking a Snow, Brig, 30k ships (atm, they may even get cheaper w/PvP) he's more likely to log in and do stuff.
  14. Yeah, what does that mean? We can PvP w/ships snow and smaller or does it mean we can PvP w/snows and larger or does it mean something entirely different? And, to expand on this, I think we should definitely have open PvP w/Snows and smaller. From my point of view because ships snow size and smaller are excessively inexpensive and basically fun. Its like frig fighting in EVE. Costs basically nothing, everyone can afford even a basic Snow @30k from NPC and thats like not even an hour of time.
  15. Looking for action? Has your national chat become a search engine for "anyone doing missions near XXX?" Are you more familiar with what ports have what goods instead of, "5 hostiles sailing here" "X-up for PB screening" "All captains ready up for fleet patrols!!" Do you spend more time reading forums between trade runs than you do participating in the game called Naval ACTION!!!? If you answer yes to any of these questions or general statements, than the Dutch are where you need to be. We can provide you with all the action you could ever want. We've got ports. We've got water features. We've got wooden shoes!! Thats right. You read that correctly Wooden Shoes!! You wont find that sailing for the Brits, the rats, the Spanish. Only the Dutch can provide wooden shoes. Dont be fooled by imitations. No one likes fake cheese. Come to the Dutch and experience what this game is really about. ACTION!! if you do come, please bring some thick socks and we can talk. Gawd these shoes are uncomfortable after you get off work.
