I have deleted contracts before just for the reason Sir Texas mentioned above. We can only have 10 contracts out and I was buying reps, never filled,- had no OP there, needed room for more contracts in a different port and just deleted the unfilled ones. You lose the money but save a long sail just to cancel.  It would be better if the "cancel" label was just changed back to the "claim" label, the way it used to be- I believe.

Yep I have had ships pulled out of a port but didn't want to sale back to close down things so I just deleted the contracts and pulled the port.  I kinda hate you have to get the ship out too, should be able to scuttle that too if you want to abandon all from a port.  Than other times I have left a port there and let it changed hands half a dozen time before it got back to the nation my player was.

That's just pure laziness... If you have contracts, then you have an outpost. And if your outposts get captured and you don't teleport in to cancel your contracts, sell/tow/sail your ships/goods out before reset then you deserve to have to smuggle in to do so.

You do know there are such things as buy contracts?  As @Sparkydog states above you might have a buy contract that doesn't feel.  Just cause you think it's lazy doesn't mean it is for others.  Remember not every one lives on this game 24/7 like some.   They might not know that port got captured and come back a few days later.  I hear it all the time, "What happen to such and such port all my stuff is in it."  Remember this game isn't about the 10% that are on all the time.  We do have a large number of casual players that don't log in every night and play hours and hours like some with no life do.

I'm not exactly sure why there's even a Delete option? What's the rationale for even giving the user this ability, as I can't determine a single use case where this is more desirable than canceling a contract, having goods returned and if you're actually wanting to delete the items just remove them from the warehouse? It seems like it would remove this headache entirely...

It could be used if the port says was captured and on the other side of the map and you don't want to haul the stuff back or it's a bunch of cheap stuff.  You can just delete the goods and contract.  Remember we are limited to only something like 10 contracts at a time. For us that don't use them all the time that seems plenty, but for others that have contracts all over the place they are not enough at times.

  3. If I remember right and @admin can correct me on this, "Reason you don't get xp for sailing towards ship knowledge cause it could be abused."   Though never explained how cause it's from one city to the next distances so you can't exploit the distance.  I can see if it pays you for being out at sea than yes some one can just AFK and get XP.  Just make it a low xp you get so it wouldn't matter much.

    mortar brigs became very weak.

First Georgetown We failed because we developed a strategy around mortar brigs.

Yah I know the range got messed with cause forts have the same range.  If this is so and they are pretty much useless than how do we deal with Forts and Towers (I know one fort got damage the first time Cart was attacked)?   There are some maps that you pretty much have to do something about the forts or you won't win any attacks.

.Alas she is out of NA timescope, else we would have some brilliant super frigate designs that would make most SOLs in game obsolete. ( as they became IRL )

Which unless it's change should be something like 1700 till 1820.  So anything built after that time or before is out of the range.  This is why I can't get any SOL with two decks of 32's lol

I never understood why they only depended on one or two ports, they have a good number of high points ports to have as seconds and back ups.

If you are on fire when facing multiple NPC I have found it best to get away from them till the fire goes out. With 3v1 and with the AI reload rate if you allow them to keep shooting you the fire will only get worse faster than your crew can deal with it.

Yah I don't think the fire was his real problem, but also when your on fire and same with AI and they hit your Mag a second time (first sparks starts the fire) it can put you into shock.  It's rare but happens.

if we only knew where the magazine was placed on the ships we sail 😓 @admin @Ink

I actually know the location of a few ships (some have more than one) and can cause fires by hitting those areas.   They are suppose to be in the location of that ship historically so just look up the prints lol

While we're at it, also lets remove the ability to leave a battle. I'm sick of these people that run away from battles.

Maybe get a faster ship?  It was like last night when some Russians where in our waters and tagged some of our guys grinding ships.  We all know that Cart port battle will be today and they be in the area.  No use chasing them cause we all know they where in fail fit speed boats when we had heavy grinders in that area.  Dock up and go play some where else or get a faster boat to chase them down.

If they are escaping your not fast enough.

Never understood why folks bitch about getting tagged over there, it's a PvP hot zone.  Even when pirates and it was a great run for trade goods from Mort, some one gets tag we would say, "Should of brought an escort, you all know it's a PvP hot zone for hunters."  Feel this way about any one that gets tagged by HOT FREEPORTS.  Don't be crying for help, it's not the capital waters.

NO life traders?  What exactly are you than?  Sorry this is an open world MMO and there are many ways to play this game.  Some it's trading.  Some it's sinking AI. Others it's sinking only players.  So saying some one has no life cause they pick a different play style than your own shows your prob the one that doesn't have much of a life.....they are just doing what they enjoy.  Some of us like all the above (hint why I'm on War not Peace).

It's more the irritation that our poor clan has to now drop taxes even lower to stop getting PvE fleets attacking because we have no interest in it whatsoever. Would be better if it attacked the clan holding the most ports in the nation or something. Or we all get to vote on who gets picked on.

    I vote KURUC.

Actually this could be a mechanic that Devs could do since they mention in the past about doing eco-sabatoge or something to deal with alt-clans, dead clans and just trouble clans.   So maybe a means to just pay a nice big sum to have a port raided in your county. I would assume it would be a mission pulled at the capital by the owner of that region and can only be done say once a week so not to be abused?

    4 hours ago, Razee said:

1mil dubs put in, and you can pick wich friendly clan the AI will raid, might help against internal struggles clan vs clan

1 mil is kinda high but something like that and make it a County owner missions so not just any one can do it, only the region county clan owner can pull the missions to deal with trouble clans.

@Sir Texas Sir  - map shake up will be supported by one of the first 4 nations existed since 2015. Neutrals. Set the night timer for the very rich port as a strong nation? Expect guests or do not set the timer when you have no people.

Yep think this would be a good thing for any important ports that try to dodge timers.  Just wish it raided other ports too.  If you where to reduce the sub ports maintenance for timers I bet we see a lot more ports suddenly get timers.

This is the punishment for all players who left their small factions and went to the most powerful faction to sleep at night ...
    I think it's a great idea

I actually see this more a way to keep folks from port timer dodging by putting important ports in silly timers....now they have to still defend it if it makes the mark to get raided.    This could be used as a way for smaller nations to attack bigger nations too.  hit them when they are being raided on another port and they have to pick which to defend.

PVE: Very interested in what will happen to things in our warehouse/ships that are docked etc. in ports that are turned neutral or neutral ports that are captured by another nation in PVE, just nice to know if I should get my stuff out of a port that's going to be attacked etc. or if it's safe. :)

Not sure how the Peace server will do it, but for War we keep all stuff, just can't use your crafting buildings.  You can't telport in, but if you come in a trade ship you can leave with any ship and fleet.  If it's neutral you can still craft and do things, so that should stay the same (Peace server use to basicly treat all ports nuetral).  If it becomes another nation port you should be effected as above where you can't craft or telport in,, but all your sttuff is safe until you remove it.  You might want to hold onto the port in case it trade hands back to where you can use it again.

    1. Raider fleet usually will consist of 16-20 Lineships(escort) and 4-6 indiaman (transports) and will split into 2 groups attacking from 2 directions 16-20 linships is a lot of ships and what would the make up be, all 1st rates?  Would it keep to port BR limits?  If these are elite ships that is a large heavy elite fleet when we have folks struggle doing 6 elite ships in epic missions and you want folks to fight a fleet or them?
    2. To win the battle raiders will need to gain 1000 points
    3. Raiders get the points by controlling the control points AND by reaching the control points
    4. Transports get A LOT of points for reaching the circle - currently 250-300Is this per ship?   That is a lot of points all of a sudden taht 4-6 ships can end the battle.  Maybe make it first ship of the group gives points, but on some maps with wind you might not be able to get the second circle in time.
    5. Escort get some points for reaching the circle - currently 25-50
    6. All Raiders also get standard points for staying in the circle
    7. Raiders will not fire at forts Butt will Forts fire on raiders other wise what the point having the?
    8. Points cannot go down but you can slow down the point generation or avoid it by stopping the ships trying to reach the control points So they don't go down from sinking ships?   There needs to be some way to remove points when you have 250-300 points per ship and 25-50 auto gained on top of cap points.  This seems like it will be a very fast flip like when the Forts gave 250 points you could have a port flipped before any one could defend a circle.  Specially on certain maps where you have to go around coves/harbours to get to one or both circles.
    9.

My main concern is the point system and if the ships are going to be cracked out ELITE ships that are all 1st rates and such?  Remember not ever one is on every night so it's not that you have to have a fleet of 25 ships to defend it, you have to have 25 person per might that can be free from other things and defend the port.

Omg we have 2 pve sever now

    This game has always been:

    Peace:. PVE only server

War:. PVE with chance of PvP

You guys need to stop think of it as a PvP only server.  It never has been.  Yes you can level up off PvP only but even RvR has PVE element to it.

We can expect many useless ports to be abandoned and turned neutral within the first server maintenance ^^

Wouldn’t that not Chang anything as it goes after top three profitable ports?  We need a bit more details on this.

also not sure I like the numbers of ships and pints.  If they are all elite ships it’s going to be a bitch of a fight for most players

The game lets you put cannons on or not? its your choice to sail with our without.

How is that a broken game mechanic or exploit?

End of the day Captains choice. Games fuct anyway.

So no cannons should make an easier target to sink? Or maybe he is board fit took cannons off for speed? So many variables yet you cry poor me. No wonder players dont come back.

I know you haven't played in a very long time, but lets be honest here.  Me and you done a lot of boarding in our days and we never went without cannons.  You don't make a board fit Navy Brig any way it doesn't have the crew and you don't go into a deep water hostile missions without cannons and try to get boarded.   You might not know but one of the great things added since you last played is broad side from your actual cannons with the ['] keys so  you want cannons to do damage to the ship and crew while boarding.  I watched the video and it looks just like these guys where trying to block shots and get sunk.   Going into a mission to get sunk to reduce hostility is against the game rules.

It's sad that those players have fallen so low. I used to sail with many of them.

I'm we did a little shady shit here and there that was within the rules/mechanics but never stuff like this.  Though we had a few members that would do things they shouldn't have to advance in the game this is not the BLACK that was under 7/Duncan and than me.  I guess we are seeing how it is now that Koltes decides to finally run the clan or something?

Yah we pulled some thing cause we where out number all the  time, but not this crap. This is flat out breaking the rules, even back when we bent them some we keep them within the lines just enough to not break them.  Yet another reason I will not return to Pirates and BL4CK as it's not what they use to be.

seagul's name is longer then the current letter cap for new players for character names as a result it comes up blank when in battles

which i believe should be fixed

The report feature really needs to be broken down to say why they are being reported.  Simple code issues like this and some of the names I seen are very not PG-13 friendly that maybe the Devs don't know are insults in English or other languish.  Something like +report and it bring up a menu saying why:  Offensive behavior, Name, Spy etc.

Oh and I know seagul picked his names case they are max letter caps on purpose, but the not showing is new since he returned.

Sure, but people on the peace server (PvE) are not PvP players by definition, so presumably they will not be subjected to this?  It would completely change the nature of the PvE server if they were.

What does killing AI have to do with PvP?  This game is a majoriity PvE element game so why shouldn't the AI be more agressive to those in the wrong waters and fight back?  The reason they seem so dumb down to most is cause they don't act like players.  Just about every MMO I been on the AI will attack you unless your far to high level than they are.  They would have an agro zone that you can avoid if you don't want to be attacked.  Maybe the devs will do something like that to let folks avoid them, but I think it's more going to effect the AFK saliers and I'm sure PvE has tons of them since it's a safe place, well guess what, it's not going to be any more in certain waters so no more AFK randomly sailing all over.

As a PvE only player, I am VERY excited for these updates. I think most PvE players feel like I do too. I know some worry because of rumors of what will happen when in reality nobody knows until we test. I do agree with you it is funny some are worried about PvE in PvE. Kid's these day's

I think it's just a few of the grumpy old time PvE vets that don't like change.  I love hearing this and kinda wish I had more time to set things up more on that server cause I don't always want to deal with players and RvR/PvP.  glad to hear folks are excited about these changes.

  17. Those two artist done some awsome work....they done some things for a mix of games (think even this one) and movies (Russian/Ukraine movies).   Just watched one of the movies they where part of a few weeks ago (Attriction believe it was called and has a 2nd one coming out soon and Gurdian).  If I can find the link I'll post it.

We had a lot of thoughts about it.
The problem is that static passive NPCs turn the world into static wax figure museum. Yes they interfere with some plans, but also they liven up the world, creating danger zones or changing the balance of forces on the OW. Even most casual games force the pvp player to carefully chose the routes to attack or require them to clear up zones before camping them.

This is why I always say the game servers are Peace (PvE with no chance of PvP) and War (PvE with chance of PvP and RvR).   They are both PvE servers first, the PvP is second as we have to kill AI to grind up and find loot.  So those that think War is a PvP only server have been wrong.  Most of the players don't even care about the RvR part of the game that is why it gets so bland.  Cause most players only have a few hours a day or week to play.   Yes we have a good number of EILTE players that do nothing but play this game on there off time from RL, but they aren't the majority of the players that log in and play.  I like the concept of having aggressive AI.  Take a look at Star Citizen, there is a reason they are making AI and Players look the same and they plan to have a 20/80 or 30/70 split of players vs AI numbers.  Cause it's no fun to get sunk all the time by other players when you never get any kills, AI and Players should be treated the same on the OW.  You really shouldn't know if it's a player or an AI is there mind set.  Yes AI tend to be stupid and predictable, but I'll tell you I fought many a players that are worse than AI.

The main thing is don't set AI skill level to fight Elite players, set them to fight the average player.  Yes we can have ELITE AI that are harder and give more challenge for those Elite players, but make the majority of the AI challenge for you average Joe.  One of the biggest complaints I heard since release about AI isn't that they are stupid and predictable (what you hear for the Elite Vets) it's that they can be to hard with powerful boarding and seeming to turn on a dime and have higher DPS than players cause they never miss.  This is what I hear from the average joe player.

Just about every MMO I been on you had to fight AI and only fought players in special zones.  That is a thought, maybe it would be good to do such, make PvP only in special zones or give special rewards in hot spots (like a hostility bubble around a port increases rewards to do PvP).  Right now PvP rewards suck cause you have to share your rewards and well if your the luckly you die more than you win and it ends up being very costly in the long run.   While you have the ones that win all the time getting stronger and stronger.   Game has terrible balance to keep new players around cause ya'll let the Vets/Elites farm the crap out of new players for easy rewards.
