  1. Like I said, I'm sure it has been thought of more thoroughly. My description is very basic. Of course you could add to it what you please. Enemy coastal vessels. Even have the target vessel mobile (but then it wouldn't be a 'cutting out' operation). My imagination for the idea goes far, but then I remember it's a game and only so much is possible.
  2. Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I imagine this with the 'land in battle' concept. Some sort of 'cutting out' mission, at an enemy port or maybe a free town. Where you go into a similar sequence as a port battle with one or maybe two towers (lighter batteries though), an enemy ship that won't set sail but is at anchor with a skeleton crew (perhaps 25%). Disable the batteries then board the ship. I was thinking that perhaps there might be an AI cutter or two, or yachts (as if you have launched boats) that automatically join you for the sequence. I'm sure it's been thought of before and I'm sure others have thought I through better than I.
  3. Marecek sir, although I'm quite sure you are referring to GrimDeGrim and Francis Tabernac, I thank you for you kind words and hope we can all agree to work together in the not too distant future.
  4. Tatann, after our very friendly chat I totally understand your opinion and worries. I'm very confident that the greater French nation has little to worry about, we have no intention to ruin the diplomacy of CSNF. So far with had no contact with the Dutch and in most of the battles we've had with the Danes. They have tagged us. I think deescalating any dispute between us all is not out of the question. Just simple differences of opinions, that is all.. Kind regards
  5. Opinions are every mans God given right, just like going for a crap is. However the four points you mentioned are good persuaders too.
  6. But we don't play RP on RP off, I write roleplay stories every now and then but that's it. Many of the comments aimed at us are very difficult to interpret as role play, if they indeed are. However as I have said I apologise if I have mistaken them.
  7. the propaganda/ roleplay I have written is quite clearly just that, you'd have to be a fool to think otherwise. Some of the comments against us I have interpreted as real feelings. If i have mistaken people's role play comments for real feeling then I apologise, it obviously wasn't clear to me. As for your last few words there... Well I don't think so Mr Orwell. I treat everyone equally unless they give me reason to do otherwise.
  8. How can a fire rage when smothered with a blanket, it's the embers that remain and risk reigniting you must watch for sir.
  9. I don't see why there is need for such hostility, we are simply playing the game how we want, to try to make things interesting for ourselves. We haven't caused anyone else to have a bad experience in game. We didn't ask for a pat on the back or anything like that just leave us be, pretend we don't exist whatever, I couldn't give a monkeys ........ We throw in some propaganda as role play every now and then but it is little more than stories and has no effect on the game. It's ironic, our enemies the Dutch and Danish-Norwegians have done little but wish us good luck and enjoyed the Battles we have had with them, they haven't complained about a breach of treaty or anything. The only people that have taken offense to us is our own in game countrymen so far.
  10. Well... If anything this has made our recruitment thread all the more interesting, but it genuinely saddens me that my old comrades and people whom I have so much respect for, and much to thank for have taken so much hostility towards such a tiny group of players. We may be rebels in a way. But we are fighting for what we believe in, we didn't stop fighting, didn't really get the option myself. We can work together if at is your wish, but we'd have to have some kind of arrangement clearly. My former alliegances have little to do with this, other than the fact that I'm fighting for France and disagree with the surrender and want to continue fighting for France against her enemies. That is all. I tell you this though. You can turn the entire French nation on us if you see fit, but we won't quit.... Good day to you
  11. Tatann, Monsieur, if you please. You are a very kind and very helpful person. I owe you much for all the help you gave me in EDR, all I can do is thank you. It disheartens and saddens me to see you post such words. Of course we'd very much like to work under the council and follow the orders of the good gentlemen who have worked extremely hard to organise the French and achieve what they have done, you Monsieur Tatann have had a great role to play in my experience. I remember your clear concise tactical orders at the defence of pampatar, you even took a moment to translate for the one English speaking fool (myself of course) who had little idea what was being said. But our real enemies still occupy our territories and hardly abide by their own part of the treaty. I came under attack from a group of Danish- Norwegian ships not 24 hours after the surrender. We do not wish to be regarded as pirates by the good French nation. We are simply a tiny voice in the darkness of occupation and oppression. And as I have said many times. If it's to the good of the game In regards to players giving up and so on then we get that, we understand. We are too insignificant to really effect that aspect though. I be very happy to discuss further in pm or even TS Monsieur. It would be a pleasure. Kind regards Martin
  12. I am jealous of your achievements, if only playing NA paid a wage. Congratulations gentlemen. The thorn in the side of the Danish- Norwegians must surely soon aggravate them.
  13. Gentlemen, I thank you heartily for the corrections and information but with the upmost respect may we please refer to private messages in future for this is a recruitment thread. I'm sure you understand and I thank you again.
  14. I guess my hopes for peace between your nations is a hope too far, have fun gentlemen
  15. I understand this sir. Both nations have much pride and pride that has been dented. I think it can be turned around though. Reach out I say, shake hands and treat this conflict as a massive fleet exercise. Just think of what can be achieved if you properly work together. It must be possible.
  16. Frenchmen, who are angry at having this 'treaty' that was agreed broken time and time again by our enemies, Frenchmen who want all the lost territories back, Frenchmen who want to fight. Every man shall be equal within our company Join us we are recruiting. If you are not in a guild and like being the underdog join us, traders/ crafters and fighters, all welcome. Kind regards to you all.
  17. Both sides seem to agree at there was some miss understanding that started this conflict off, right when both sides needed eachother against their real enemies. You both agree? End it then gentlemen, set a black and white border with none of lending ports pish, and concentrate on the real enemy before it gets out of hand and you destroy eachother. Put all the stubbornness and national pride away and draw a line under what's happened. You can achieve more together than you ever will fighting eachother.
  18. Im 100% certain you don't speak for everyone I say keep it as it is.
  19. This comment is almost as funny as the original post of the thread
  20. LeBoiteux you are a gentleman, thank you for clearing that up and I apologise for our ignorance on the subject.
  21. Skirmish at La Mona (The battle of Masts) My dearest friend, I am writing this letter to you from my secret lodgings at La Mona, I wish to inform you of a battle that was fought yesterday just to the east of the island. Hopefully you can use it in your campaign to rouse more support for us back in the French territories. Captain Francis Tabernac and myself had rendezvoused off the coast before sailing into La Mona to meet Captain Grim DeGrim. Not long after our first drink in the a Four Masted Tavern did Mr Tabernac receive a message from our counterparts in the DRUNK squadron. They were on their way and wished to rendezvous before setting sail and harass Danish shipping. Four of their number arrived lead by Drunkensloth, three in Renomee style Frigates and one in a Corvette very similar to my own Thunder child (cerb). We received word that another DRUNK captain was also en route and was in the ponce area to the east. So it was agreed that we should go meet him. Our own ABC ships departed first making the Van of our force whilst the DRUNK captains formed the rear. La Mona hadn't even dropped of the horizon yet when a force of Danish- Norwegian ships came speeding out of the harbour and caught up with the DRUNK ships. Our ABC vessels immediately came about and set all sail towards the point of contact. It was plain that a slogging match would not do for us. With only seven vessels (5 Renomees and 2 Cerbs) and the enemies force made of eight vessels of various class, four heavy frigates (trincs) three frigates (1 belle poule, 1 surprise, 1 Renomee??) and one corvette. (Cerb), we were in a desperate position from the start. We would have to fight a running battle. The enemy had the wind advantage too, and we engaged in battle with our formation in disarray (ships pointing in different directions), and the enemy drew onto us. Thunder Child was separated and chased away early on by two of the heavy frigates until one turned away to join the main group fighting my comrades. I saw the captain of the heavy frigate wave his hat to me through my spy glass and I returned the gesture before my stern chasers hid the view in smoke. Our strategy was to use our manoeuvrability to our advantage and aim at the enemies masts. It appeared that they wanted prizes and were therefore doing the same. Thunder child and the heavy frigate captained by Black Pearl were locked in a circle chase, I was trying to get back to my comrades whilst he punished my sails. We tried quick repairs to gain us a knot or two and he released a devastating broadside that severely damaged my port side. The carpenters report stated that another like that would send us under. After trying to manoeuvre away a well aimed shot carried away our my fore mast and my ship was now at the mercy of a rapidly approaching heavy frigate, my men prepared to repel boarders but another devastating broadside of grape threw my crew into disarray and reduced our number dramatically, there was a curious pink mist around my vessel and several of my lads had simply vanished in the hail of grape shot. It was now that I knew my ship was finished and reading the signals from our squadron another of our number was floundering and couldn't stay afloat much longer. Another grape volley from point blank range further reduced my numbers. Black pearls crew attempted at boarding, but I still had just enough speed to knock away his grapples, then his vessel slowly overshot and I heard him curse in vexation from across the narrow strip of water, but alas I had too few crew to set sail and pull away, I couldn't even strike my colours due to it being blown away so I turned toward my enemy and locked my own grapples onto his vessel inviting my enemy aboard with a salute from my quarterdeck. Black pearl was very gentlemanly in his praise and turned a blind eye whilst my surviving men and I manned a boat and made way back to La Mona. It was from this boat that I watched the rest of the battle. Whilst thunder child had been playing cat and mouse with black pearls vessel. Much had been going on amongst the other ships locked in combat. One DRUNK ship captained by captain Belize had sunk after taken terrible punished from multiple enemies. The rest of our small squadron had succeeded in forming a tight formation where they could mutually support each other and were delivering well aimed shots on the enemies masts of which several were brought down. Our own ships had taken damage also but were still in good shape and for a brief moment there was a small amount of hope and enthusiasm that with the enemy being dispersed as they were, our ships could gain some kind of victory over the enemy. However Captain Francis Tabernac had lost the majority of his main mast and only his mainstay was still set, he could have quietly slipped away if he wished but decided to stay. After taken hits from a pair of Heavy Frigates his foremast and mizzen mast came crashing down. His vessel now resembled a Viking longboat, the irony was not lost on us. His vessel was left to the mercy of captain Tekert in his heavy frigate. But captain Tabernac was able to deliver several broadsides on two enemy ships as a floating battery before captain Tekert came in to board. It was around this time that captain Ingeman Ulfgard of DRUNK signalled that his vessel was no longer able to continue fighting and withdrew. Francis Tabernac and Tekert had boarded and counter boarded each other no fewer the 3 times before captain Tabernacs vessel was overcome. Our three surviving ships were still putting up a grand fight, and the Danish- Norwegian vessels were strung out with the majority missing masts. A couple had set all available sail and left the battle area. Drunkensloth's vessel had suffered terrible damage as finally his main mast fell into the sea and he signalled that his ship was taking on water. He was successful at bringing down Black pearls mainmast first before abandoning ship. Drunkensloth's rearguard action meant that only one enemy vessel still had all three masts and that vessel had suffered terrible damage and wouldn't take much more. It also allowed for Grim DeGrim and Reiwok both to pull ahead and get out of range of the enemies guns. Although for our small squadron it was a clear defeat with four of our seven vessels taken or sunk, for us personally it was a victory for morale and prestige. Our first sizeable battle with everything in the enemies favour from the start. The Danish- Norwegian captains honoured us with signals of praise and a fight well fought. We signalled the same and that we shall meet them again no doubt. Kinds regards Your old friend Martin W Morey de Saumarez A fine battle all round. Thank you to the Danish- Norwegian captains for their part in it
  22. Nakorbc sir, Thank you for your pleasant words and kind encouragement. In regards to hunting us down sir, I doubt that unless you join us, you will not find us. For we are deep inside Danish territory and have been since France surrendered to her enemies, doing what all French captains should be doing. Would enjoy some friendly battles with you sir.
