Exactly what i had in the PZ the other day.

zero captains in the SP and a ton of sharks circling in the PZ...

So, even if i'm not a 1v1mebro kind of player i found the situation to be really comical sad.

Sure, but then the stars align and two unicorns happen to be there at the same time on the same day. I don't care if I'm in a cerb finding you sitting in your trinco, a fight will happen that day.

Two concurrent Zones per day, 1 for group, another for solo, at different designated spots.

    Example:

    - Group Patrol Zone at Aves

    - Solo Zone at La Mona

Next day cycles to other two zones.

Could be a good idea, but could also be worse.

The running of the gauntlet going in and out is one thing. But one of these days the sharks circling Gringo will get curious and go in to fight. In a seperate zone you will never get that... synergy effect ;)

no solo pvper came. Everybody was in the patrol zones doing group things.

Exactly as expected for me. Duel pvp in a full loot loss with eco grind punishment world is going to be the niche of niches. Heh, I'm going to sit in duel zone and stare out of the circle with moral condemnation too when I get time ;)

Perhaps duel zone in OW is a "fake feature"? But please don't decide yet. There aren't many of us but we do exist. The wee circle doesn't harm anyone, does it?

Hitting national traders and crafters is a form of the warfare in this game; you hit their economy. That's a valid tactic.

Role-play all you like, but don't delude yourself into thinking it actually matters.

Well, ok, maybe it can matter sometimes when a victim gives up on trying to make it here. One less enemy is very war-game like, right?

  5. I'm quite indifferent to the whole "broken promise" drama. We knew this would end up in a total wipe. Then some of us begged and batted our eyelashes to get to keep the xp (yup, I'm weak) and admin said we could keep it since we're so adorable. Then they realized the risk, slammed the brakes, and we're back to where we started on the question of wipes.

I don't disagree with you, @Wraith. I also appreciate that they had to make a choice between bad and worse, or "choose the lesser of two weevils" as we're obligated to say around here. I can't say I know which weevil is the optimal choice at this point.

Why shouldn't everyone have them?  Then the game is skill focused, not gear focused.

I've been intensely occupied with this question or problem almost since the release of OW. From reading posters opinions it seems to me that chasing gear carrots is a thing, some call it a reason to play or grind, some call it content, some seem to hate the idea of (skill based) "cookie cutter" ships and place enormous value on the ability to "customize" ships. I use quotation marks because that word makes it sound almost harmless.

For a game with NA's core combat to be so gear based isn't sexy at all. It breaks my heart.

because alts are the barrier to enterprise. There is no outpost expansion, no building expansion, you're stuck with what you have no matter how much money you have on your main, you the entry to the next level of business is buying alts. Alts have more power than mains do and unlike E.V.E and RS, are required after a certain point.

I've gone deeper than that, slim, do you dare to look?

Also, I've seen this comment about EVE: "If you're playing on one account; You're doing it wrong."

If working as intended means a dead RVR system with no incentives and using 1st rates to gank AI ships in capital zones...then yes.

I miss the days when we have multiple full first rate battles and folks didnt have to worry about replacing them.  Just go have fun.  But for some reason that wasn’t immersive enough

Now 1st rates will be hard to get, easy to lose and the PB BR system still heavily favors bringing the biggest ship you can.  What a well thought out system...

I feel for you, I have no bright ideas.

"How to make a system that motivates people to fight on top of a system that is built around discouraging people from risking anything?"

    You know what I want...

  9. I remember starting to grind the little ships in Sea Trials, I particularly remember the first time there was a Snow on the other team; Such a large and seemingly invincible ship that was! o.O

I got to grind my Brig by shooting at an unmanned santi, the owner didn't like storm battles so he simply said: "Here, shoot at this" and left the game.

Then, at the end of my first hour someone typed in chat:

    "Duel, anyone?"

Then followed a period of intensive, concentrated, difficult and fun PvP training in rooms or in randoms.

    Then came OW...

I've had good moments in OW, even some fantastic experiences, but if I were to draw a pie chart with three sectors: fun, frustration and boredom, well...

<Raises glass> Here's to the hope the duel PZ brings! Here's to the dim but everlasting light of hope NA: Legends shines within my heart!
