  1. Yeah this is basiclly what i was pointing towards. If they want things to be real later in game then hideouts and outposts would be a must for pirate players or give them the ability to raise a false flag to enter any port they want. Giving the major nations the ability to outpost or hideout is a silly idea really and would totally ruin the state of PvP.
  2. Even if they don't do it this way you will have the clans and guilds having the power still. Some clans have up to 60+ active players on most PvP servers and that is just on PvP2 which i am on. Sure that is more for the bigger factions but still that is a hefty number of players votes compared to YOUR one vote. So either way the guilds and clans will always get their way no matter how much YOU whine and complain about it. Want to change things? Make your own big clan which you can change and alter the path the nation takes.
  3. A one vote system is silly when there are more players who sit back and PvE on PvP servers then there are PvP players. I don't want PvE players affecting my PvP play to carebear it up and vote for the wrong things. Like take this for instance. We are at war, full scale war, with America ATM on my server. If the carebear players got their way they would have us allied with America so we can use all their ports. This would mean majority players (75% of player base) will be allied with each other in just one vote. That is a stupid idea and destroys PvP. It isn't very simple though. I mean when you read it once they drop the math it will be easy to understand but right now it isn't so much like our political system like you say. Right now we have one vote each as a person in real life voting. Where in this system, depending on your status and how much land you own depends on how heavy your vote will be. Which is nothing like any vote system that has been around in the past 100 years so unless you are like me and love and understand history, you would never understand this form of voting and even then with my knowledge of history i don't think i have ever seen this system. Land based power i have seen but based on vote power due to land mass i have never seen. So you can't really blame the guy for not knowing about it or thinking it is not simple enough. Once it is fully fleshed out with the numbers it will become more simple for him and others like him.
  4. You are kidding right? Have you not played Admiral missions or anything near or after the Flag captian level mission? Those are 15 minutes out from port alone. The only way they are viable is if you do multiple missions in a chain with friends. With this system you will have to return to port every battle if they don't add some system of restoring after battle your men. Now lets talk about PvP. You lose some men to a battle or a few battles, now you have to go 40 minutes out to a friendly port in unfriendly waters to restock men which will be scarce in those ports close to the front line because of people of your nation already taking the crew already at that port. Then you have to go to a further out port possibly traveling in head wind and avoiding crazy huge shallow regions only to restock crew. Then you notice you have wasted 1 or more hours sailing, only to have to sail back another 1 hour for a small 20-30 minute engagement. All this does it make it more accessible to players who can invest a lot more time. Alienating more casual player base or people who work most the day. I am lucky i have a lot of time to play games compared to others and even i don't want this silly crew stuff added. It is enough to add officers who will take some of your earned gold while giving you some sorts of buffs but adding crew management to the point you have to pay or hire them at a limited stock is just stupid and won't work in this game ever. Yeah this. If it is as bad as port resource replenishment i am totally against it. Trading already is horrible for making a profit as it is right now. Adding another huge gold sink to the game which is on a time based system and also an attrition system.. I don't think i would ever PvP again with that kind of system. Even the harder PvP players will get more carebear and won't want to trade 3rd-2nd or 1st rates anymore. Too damn risky.
  5. Bump because of new DEV post on Diplomacy! http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/13596-such-is-a-lord-simple-politics-and-alliances-part-1-heavily-moderated/<their post here
  6. I love everything said in this. I wish i could find something i don't like the look of really. I do want to know how the flag system is going to be replaced but other than that i love it! It really goes well with my suggestion here too! http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/13334-illegal-trade-piracy-and-diplomacy-suggestion/
  7. Ugh.. Please look up what momentum means. It won't make unrealistic maneuvers more viable. It will actually stop that bullshit and let you get away from someone who tries to chain sail you. Right now maneuvers made in this game are very unrealistic due to no normal wind patters and no momentum. Even hard turns should bust your rudder half the time the way most people turn in this game hard at 10 knots. Ships were designed more for slower battles than fast paced rudder slamming combat which we do in this game. What i am really trying to prove with my post is making wind changes to this game will just make the game worse and unplayable by new players. The more difficult a curve of learning you have in the game the higher chance of people leaving or writing bad reviews of the game therefore making the playerbase never rise and constantly fall even before the games release. This wind idea, is a bad one because of that. So no. No one but the hardcore self punishing players want this change.
  8. You do know you can hit the quote button right? Because no one knows who you are talking to atm other than me really. What i am talking about is how realistically boats keep their momentum even into the wind as long as they already have speed already. Once you down your sails you lose all your speed for some unknown reason. Seriously, go with the wind at a perfect angle for your ship, any ship, then drop sails and see how far you get after they are fully lifted. You will stop near instantly from when the sails hit 0%, this wouldn't happen in real life, you can casually drift in the water no matter the size of the boat for a fair amount of time without using your movement to slow you down by drifting with the rudder. Boats, and certainly sail boats don't 100% move on the wind all the time. There is no momentum at all in this game. But my point is, if you want things to be realistic even to a point, it makes no sense not to add the other things that go along with that realism. If a proper realistic wind system is added, you would really need forward momentum to be remain even with the sails up, and you would need to learn alternate ways to slow down instead of just lifting your sails like you do now.
  9. Why wasn't your friend in the battle with you is the real question. I see how it could be annoying that they can repair after a battle they won in PVP sense but overall removing repair kits is a very bad idea and will cause so much more of a time sink in this game. Think about it, you sail 14 minutes out to a mission, the closest mission to you is 4 or less minutes out. You do the mission. You took a good amount of damage due to a mistake and the mission alone took 25 minutes to do. You now have to sail back 14 minutes to the port. Repair, come back out and said 17 minutes to the next mission. So 14+25+14+1+17 = 71 minutes for one mission worth of gold and EXP. Now consider the poor player who get 2-3 hours tops each day to play. Yeah that means MAYBE 2 missions a night maybe 3 if you get lucky and it is close by. Of course not all missions are that spread out of course. But i have had missions send me from PR to Cayman Brac before. Which isn't a small amount of sailing to do. Overall unless they change a LOT of things radically, this suggestion is just another "i want things hardcore/realistic" post for people who want the game to not have a player base. The difficulty and price of the game already is to much for most players why would you want to make more want to leave???
  10. Maybe they should just make a realism server for all these people who want super realistic things in this game. I for one don't think this stuff will add anything to the game but frustration. One second you are using the wind tactically then the next second all wind is gone and you lose all momentum. If they want to add something to the game to do with speed and movement, add momentum. Right now if you all sails off you stop in seconds. In real life it took much more than the weight of the boat to stop it. Like, if in real life i was moving fast, then was turning into the headwind i would lift my sails and all that jazz and use my momentum to get through it and turn. But in this game that only helps slow my ship down, it is pretty stupid. But then again this game isn't meant to be 100% realistic otherwise a santi's full barrage would kill a connie if they all connected. You would hardly be able to sail let alone still fire back and repair. That poundage of cannons aren't to be fucked with.
  11. What does it matter if someone sits there in a after battle screen? It is their time they are wasting. If you want that PVP that badly then wait for them to finally move but if you can't be eff'd waiting that long. Move on and do something else.
  12. People already do this. Having multiple steam accounts and keys of the game. Some players have up to 5 accounts already for their server and can make multiple ships a day at high end equivalent. People will always have a way around labour hour systems. The only really profiting from labour hours atm are those with multiple accounts. So how is it fair someone like me who can't afford to buy multiples of the game can't compete with those who do have that many? Even the DEVs know they need to fix the crafting system. They have said it and pointed towards how broken and annoying it can be in so many posts it isn't funny. What about the nations who lack a player base at the moment? How do they craft at the levels those who have many players to buy LH's from compete with bigger nations? Oh i will tell you. They don't. Most players have had to reroll because of this and if they stay they will never see a exceptional crafted 2nd or 3rd let alone a 1st rate ship for close to a year of playing.
  13. Well then hitting shallows should bust your hull and do massive damage. Big waves should also kill or make your men go overboard in battle and while in the OW. How about we add to the realism of your post then? I can help with that. Lets make it so it takes weeks in ingame days to fix your ship. Or how about once you lose your ship you have no durability on that ship and it is instantly sunk for good? Because we know in real life you get it sunk, it is gone forever right? You know why these things aren't in the game? It breaks up the gameplay. It keep players from playing because they have to dick around and constantly go back to a port after every battle they ever have. Not sure if you have grouped up with people before but some times you can do 9 missions or more in a row where you take heavy damage each battle, in that time you can use up all your repair kits, and have to blow another 50k for more repairkits later on. Repairkits aren't cheap, they may seem it but they aren't compared to flat healing at a port. So port repairs are still very viable or useful. You can't just stay out for days on end and never have to go back to port because you WILL run out of repairkits. Removing them would be a very stupid idea.
