Of course it is a bit of fantasy involved in every game.

But imo it‘s sort of inconsistent, if you create a game about a certain period of history and emphasis that your ship models are as close as possible 3D recreations to thier historic originals and at the same time bring fractions into the game that had no part in that area at the chosen period of history.

In other words: To meet Russian or Chinese warships (or even traders!?)  in the Caribean of the Age of Sail was probably not significantly more likely than meeting Aliens in spaceships at the same time and place.

So any game that tries to bring history to life and make things historically accurate...but then allows the player to not follow how history went should be dropped because it's bad?

if we want history to be exactly history, then you read a book about it. We play games set in historical eras to enjoy what we find cool in that setting, not because we want to be strictly bound to what "happened."

so we can't play our 7 years war tabletop games differently because history tells us how it ended up? I feel this type of thinking is narrow-minded.

It's not hard to see that you are waaaaayy too worked up over this. Instead of everybody pointing fingers and arguing about who started what, let's just go back to fighting each other and trying to have fun. Nothing will be gained from this thread.

It's times like these where we ask: have you become too involved with the game?

I think it's time for sheppard to take a step back, realize this is a hello kittying game, and to not get so worked up about it.

Take it from me, getting angry at people and getting worked up about the game never solved any problems, it only created more.

Unless they want a certain wood type for something like a fireship or something.  I would think they pick normal wood that would be less resistance to fire.  So might still have a reason to use them.

...is anyone actually fitting for fireshipping? i've never actually seen someone be serious about fireship fitting even before the fireship mod change.

What would you guys like for Victory marks in the admiralty?

    1. Buying Permits for lineships

-- if it costs 30 combat medals to buy an Ocean Permit, maybe we could also buy it for 30 victory marks? (or 60? depending on how you want to set it up)

    2. Buying Rare permits for A LOT of victory Marks

-- similar to how you can buy DLC ships for 100-200 combat medals, I think buying rare permits for 100-200 Victory marks could also be interesting

    3. Buying combat Medals or Doubloons.

-- using victory Marks to convert into different resources. IF you did this, then I would say my 1st point would not be needed

    4. Buying Rare trade goods used in Mod Crafting.

-- Say something like buying 5 swedish carpenters for 5 victory marks.

Essentially - I want to use Victory Marks as a currency and incentive for everyone to become lord protectors on many ports and to also DEFEND all those ports.

A port that doesn't have good trade goods, resources, or isn't great to hold can have yet another reason to be fought over to gain victory marks to gain access to other options.

You don't have to add all suggestions here, but I just wanted to give you an idea on what we could expect them to be used for (apart from port investments). Think of it as opportunity costs.

on one hand you can invest in a port to make that port stronger, or you could be selfish and get something from the admiralty instead of strengthening your territory.

  5. a general BR increase of 1st and 2nd rate is needed.

the BR of the Christian is incredibly low for what it offers. Even if you made the Christian 700 BR - I think it would still be superior to a Bucentaure.

36pd guns are trash compared to 42pd guns, i'm not even joking. If you want players to use 36s over 42s, then the ship needs to be limited to it. otherwise 42s it is.

  6. you have to be careful when entering and make sure everyone is there on the list.

if they were but they still did not get in then it could be a bug and should be reported. if it's a bug you could be redeemed the lost ships.

sorry about no french, if someone could translate.

There is no way Bucentaure is better than Christian

    Christian has:

    1. Better firepower +
    2. Better speed +
    3. Better turn rate +
    4. Better rose
    5. Slightly worse HP(320) and Thickness(3) -
    6.  Requires permit -
    7. Has 100 less BR +

Bringing full Christian PB fleet into 5700 BR port battle leaves you room for 3 requins, while bringing full Bucentaure leaves you room for 1 requin.

    it is known.

    Change the BRs!

    exactly.

we don't need to mess with stats too much (even more so when new ships come and have "better stats....(arguably)" but BR changing can help in both OW and PBs.

some idiots just put up things for 5, 10 or 50 times the actual price and think someone will buy it
perhaps there are some idiots who buy that as well

making an aggy doesn't cost 2 million reals, it costs the materials required to craft it, about 2700 doubloons and labor hours
you will easily get all the doubloons required by looting(of course you should be the first person to do so if you expect this result) 3 5th rate ships or making 4 trash hauling trips with cargo that gives 800 doubloons

200K sounds a bit low for an aggy though, so it's just probably some workaholic who likes to make things for free for others

or it could be captured ship with shit stats, in this case it would explain why it costs 200K too

it is possible to capture them
you just have to find them before you proceed to capture them

back when the doubloon value was around 100 real(s) per doubloons.

4th rate "value" was somewhere between 350-500k each, depending on your nation's market.

so this 200k Aggie, could be

    1. captured ship

    2. bad wood combo (people won't buy it)

    3. someone who doesn't understand how much "more" they can make :P

Why don't you write up your view of the state of affairs and seek to publish it in the Gazette?

    exactly.

crying fools yelling "BIASED" are also the ones that don't want to write anything.

  10. I don't mean to sound blunt, but a group of players were thinking of doing raid missions and the rewards, quite frankly, are just flat out bad:

    9C134600B51F5D37E98B733E2B0E63ADC72B1C90

    668D65DB35B236CB994D285A674D6D535228E2C1

Honestly if anyone ever asked, I'd tell them to never do raid missions and instead just farm privateer fleets...or heck, if you (or your team) want combat medals, just farm some hunt missions.

    it goes like this

Victory Marks? probably the only reason to do raid missions IF you don't take part in RvR....but honestly if you're doing raid missions you have the ships, just just engage in RvR. plenty of ports to control, plenty of ways to make victory marks of your own. not to mention players sell them at la tortue for 20-30k each.

Combat Medals? Hunt Missions, PvP missions are just flat out better return on your investment then ever trying to "farm" them with these raid missions. don't bother

Doubloons? look at me straight and tell me that after splitting up the rewards to your fellow group mates after a raid that you got enough doubloons for your time. PvP and Cargo Delivery missions are better farming then this and less risky based on the ships you use.

Real(s)? 10 minutes, in ONE traders brig will literally get you 2x, 3x, or 4x what you're earning here. Again, just like doubloons, after you split it up (which I've never seen happen) it doesn't even cover the cost of repairs used.

I encourage more screenshots of possible raid mission chest rewards to give a more fair assessment. I personally have never seen the rewards be higher than 30 VMs/CMs and that still is rather lower of rewards when you split them to your group mates.
