i can not urge this enough
Looking over the FOrums there past Days has shown taht pretty much everyone agrees that the combination of rare woods beeing rare as they are PLUS the new permi tcosts are an overkill to all Non-DLC ships. @admin maybe the Data shows there are pletty Permit Ships still fighting, but this is not beacause we have acees to them, its because players are burning down their Stock!
Suggestion: - Remove all Permits below 3rd Rate (Make 4th Rate Doubloons if you have to?)
-make more Ports dropping "mid Tier" Woods (Sabicu, Caguarian, Bermuda) keep the Top Tiers as ther are to encourage more RvR
-Maybe even remove VM and replace them with CM for big Ships of the line. This woud increase PvP
This woud not hurt the DLC's at all, but woud lead to more Ships, More PvP and more differsitiy in Battles.

Something must be done,
I've been able to sell repairs at several free ports, hives of activity some might say, for rediculas over the top extortionate prices for weeks now.
Personally I would just laugh off the "could someone give me some repairs in la tortue" with a : "there's loads on sale in the shop mate" with a little muhahahahahhahahahaahahh to myself.
HOWEVER, I've had absolutely no dramas selling them for
4000, 5000, 6000 for hundreds at a time,
Hell even 9000 in 100 batches
Now this all gets completed within 2 days.
So I'll say again you guys should probably do something about this before people start crying and I dry my tears with mountains of doubloons.
Baity
I dont get why so few People are producing Repairs nd Cannon. I selling a few repair but mostly Cannon from 12pnd long to 42pnd Carronades. usually areound 150 Per Day, depending on size. i started with 500 - 600 a few weeks ago and have been increasing prices every since i've reach 1000 per piece and still sell them like cool Beer.
But i dont think there is a big problem with taht. Sooner or later, other player will look for ways to make money and will start selling more repairs and Cannons in Freeports.

Just remove Permit and make Rare woods a bit less rare and we are good to go

tahts waht i wanted to know, PEN on mich meter is shown on NA-Map. Thx

4pd long:
at 50 meters PENS armor of 85, at 100 meters PENS 80 and so on

yes but on na-map or in game, wahts the relevanat distance? 100 meters?
-
So i know Thickness does let Balls bounce of your Hull with no Damage at all. Bounceing itself depends on the angle of your Ship towards the boadside as well as Cannontype, distance, Woodtype etc. Figuring out your ships thickness is easy with https://na-map.netlify.com/.
Waht i cant find is a usefull Caonnon Pen list. the list on na-map gives me, as an example, an Penetration of 130 with an 18pd medium. But waht does that mean? 130cm Pen on 1m? 100m? Wich angle?

Boy i probably gonna get a lot of hate for this Suggestion but here it is.
Every time the Wipe is mentioned the argue is "veterans will do the Exam in two hours, switch to their Herc's and Pandora an rage every newb."
True that, but just remove the Crew gain of the exams and replace. It with something else. More Ships, upgrades etc.
Veterans will still be faster in lvl then new players, but it wont be as extrem

Imported ships should not have the option to choose woods, just add a "neutral wood" that doesnt excels at anything.
its too late for that you cant just change taht after they are sold

So what ?
There can be several ship DLCs for the same 'Rate', such as the Pandora (9-pder) et L'Hermione (12-pder), both 5th rates.
Le Requin is a 9-pder. There could be a lighter 6th rate DLC carrying 6-pders, such as L'Aurore.
So we have even less Eco?

@admin Pretty much every single player in Forums as well as in TS and Ingame Chat agrees taht at this Point, Permit Costs and Rare Woods are to expensive. Do you play to do something about taht?

Would a 6th rate DLC be possible ?
The Le Requin is a 6th

@admin i agree with you Post mostly, waht i dont get is why do we have such a high Permitwall on craftable ships? You said players buy DLC to aviod the Eco. Ok, iam fine with that, but why force the Players wich want to be part of the Eco AND the Fighting to get Permits?
25 minutes ago, Intrepido said:The problems are trying to get the good woods (teak, live oak, white oak, sabicu, caguairan), the time to grind those doubloons (insane amount) and the risk of hauling those woods to the crafting point.
DLC are a matter of an instant click selecting the woods you desire. Crafting a teak-white oak wappen requires effort and time (now much worse due to the permits wall).
May main Problem is the Permit Wall. Forcin Players and Clans to fight over Rare Woods is a good idea (there are a bit tooo rare right now)! It will also provide a certain amount of hauling for Hunters.

old players will have an advantage whetever you do. I believe you think that old players will sail small ships, like pickles and lynxes. That wont happen after the wipe and release. The first day after the release all old players will do the tutorial. Almost all will manage the endurance exame in the first 1-2 hours. A large portion of the oldtimers will even manage the final exam, within 2-3 hours. Then the playerbase is divided into newbs and noobs that sail cutters and lynxes and oildtimers that sail Mercurys, Brigs and frigates. That will happen after the first 3 hours of the release.
DLC or not.
money is easy to get so after 3 hours the best oldtimers will sail cerberus, the other oldtimers Mercurys and the rest 7th rate ships.
So even without DLC.s you will see LOTS of cerbs ingame after just about 3 hours.Coast Guard time to protect our Noobs (If we get any into Russian in the First Place)

There is a simple workaround for the problem. They just need to bring more DLC ships.

I'm uninformed but for what it is worth: ....
A Trincomalee is 25 Combat Marks, I see that CMs are about 50,000 reals (under sell contracts) That's 1.5Mill reals. I see lots of Delivery Missions for massive Reals. You can use a couple traders for cheap. TSnows are about 4000reals. So for an investment of 8000 or 12,000 reals (2-3 TBrigs) you can easily make 1.5 million in a few hours. Low risk.
That doesn't seem too onerous for a ship.
Low Risk? i attack every Player Trader i see and i get attacked by ever Player if iam in a Trader. I'am not saying tahts a problem its a PvP server. But low risk is defently wrong. After Release, once to Playersnumbers hopefully go up again, you wont be able to sail a long Trip without beeing attacked. So low risk its not

@admin Please remove all Permit below 4th Rate. Its a really big problem for anyone but a handful of Elite Players.

Top pvp players dont use your wood combo.
Just spend some time looking at the global chat and see what type of ships are moscalb or dron looking for.
i use this Combo because they are Easy to come by, not because i think they are better. Moscalb and Dron beeing top PvP has probably more to do with their Skill then the Wood they use.

You must think that all other players are completely stupid, that they don't buy mahogany, sabicu or caguarian. Or do you have another explanation, why those woods are so cheap, meanwhile you have to pay 250 for live oak and 150 for white oak and there is never a stock in port for players who wanna buy without contract?
Experienced players will not sail your bermuda-bermuda frigates or your caguarian-sabicu essexes. This threat is nothing but whitewashing a broken game mechanic. It delivers good excuses for devs to keep everything like it is. What will kill the game sooner or later.
Graf, i do know more expierence Players woud never use caguarian-sabicu Essexs. i also know a live Oak/White Oak Essex is better then a Caguarian/Sabicu. But i can get all in need for a Caguarian/Sabicu in 45 min and i ccost me around 50k Reals. So i rather use and lose a Caguarian/Sabicu Essex then spend soo much time and Reals/Dubloons on a live Oak/White Oak Essex.
im know the mechanic is broken and iam not Whitewashing it. Am actually suggestion to change it.
i posted that in this Thread a few hours ago: i guess we can all agree, taht either Permits need to go or Rare Woods need to be easier to come by @admin
To stick with the Essex. Do you @Graf Bernadotte believe 7cm(or 4cm on Bow, 2cm Stern) thickness you gain is worth the Effort? While losing 0.43 Knots and turnrate as well? Not to mention the Crew Portection and the Fire Protection.
i believe your to Focus on the Teak/Live/white Ships your sailing, your not looking left and right.
And this has nothing at all to do with the current Mechanic. I think Getting Rare Woods AND Permits are BROKEN in this combination.
Either Permits need to go or Rare Woods have to be easier to get.

That's why its called the gank zone. They can call up their friends on chat or comms and everyone can pile in. Very broken ROE IMHO. Not the case in Solo PZ, and you must be the same rate. I have hidden there in the past with a bunch circling me.
TBF the Patrol Zone is made for PvP! i alway go in a throw away Ship into the Patrol Zone and fight until i sink. its not broken at all. it the hello kittying PATROL(PvP) Zone. Ive you cang fight in there were else shoud you?!?
In Nassau Patrol we usually go to Nassau knowing the Britts will outnumber us 2:1 in a matter of 10 mins. But thats waht PvP Zone is for right?

@admin to clearify a bit if i may Patron? In big battles, 4th rates and frigates to really get kills because if the bigger ships. If you raise the amoint of Points you need to get a PvP hunt to complete you coud giving a one Point ver a Permit, wich woud make Missions more rewareding with smaller ships
