I have three items on my Port screen Permanent Upgrades Two Upgrade slots Large Upgrades box at the top right of my screen. The way I think i understand it, permanent upgrades come with ship. Not sure what the different text colors mean. Is it possible to add to these somehow? The two upgrade slots seem to be the only ones that are actually active I currently like to have Pelew's Sights and Powder Monkeys (reduced loading time) in these two slots. I have a lot of upgrades in the large box on the right. Can I use these in any way (besides selling them off).? Thanks for any tips/pointers. Mercury - Master and Commander

OK, I think this has been mentioned before, but it seems to have become worse now. Spotted a Navy brig and hailed it. Hail showed one brig sailing alone. Attacked in my Mercury and entered battle. Brig was there all right but so were eight other enemy ships. Had to use my Armageddon procedure (as in Armageddon outa here!) Got away, but only just. Is this part of the gameplay or is something wrong? Bit of a waste of time really.

I joined in a battle which had been shown as two British ships against four French Ships. When I entered the battle I found about three british ships agains a very large French fleet. I decided to give it a miss and headed away from the battle on a straight course. Suddenly a British ship that was obviously joining the battle sailed straight into my path. I had no time to react and a collision occurred. We both suffered little damage but before I could apologise, the player started spouting WTFs and claiming I had rammed him. He then went on to fire at my ship. I had absolutely no reason to ram him and what happened was a pure accident. Just for the record. I have his name if required.

Following recent updates, could someone please let me know how XP is currently earned? I seem to be progressing vey slowly as far as experience is concerned. Thanks.

Just open it and navigate to the area you are sailing in (zoom out and drag). Make sure you clear any existing markers first (top right of screen).

You've probably seen this, but for those who haven't ............. Click on first location. (green) Click on destination (orange) Distance and bearing is shown on the top right of the screen. You can also drag the two locations at will. Change from Satellite to Map. Much clearer. http://www.garywaite.com/scouts/bearings/

OK Basic question please. I start the game (British) and find myself in English Harbour. I SAIL and find a bunch of ships moored just outside the harbour. I hail these ships and find that each ship is made up of a large fleet. How do I join these fleets.? I tried sending PMs to the captains, but I get no replies. I also tried hailing single ships and sending PMs in chat with the same result. What am I doing wrong please?

If I did, they would probably bring up visions of copper bottoms!!

Feeling a bit low yesterday. Browsed Steam games under simulations and came across a sailing game called Windward. Naval Action devs don't need to worry, but for 12 bucks I found it to be the perfect remedy after weeks of frustration tackling the rather steep learning curve in OW. Can be VERY addictive. Good reviews so far. Cute game and it has maps! None of this Real men don't need in-game maps business. The argument is that maps make the game less realistic. Then we're told to use our 17th century computers and load up Google Maps!!!! Realistic? Anyway, back to Windward. You might want to give it a try. It's great fun. Apologies if this has already been discussed in the forums. Didn't find it in Search.
