I'd avoid too many comments. Only a simpler one.

What special treatment to ANY ship saying to NERF and REWORK ALL MODS?

I said also NO pirate refit on Requin. No sense a Lateen Rig Refit working only for requin. And I UNDERLINED: same AS BASIC AND NERFED PIRATE. So pretty crappy bonus. Simply avoiding her going at 11 kts at broad reach.

    Some problems understanding a statement?

Hercules can keep being very fast. Nerf a bit some like done hull/masts/sails/thickness. Very fast and light corvette. Pretty simple.

You understand that a stock Hercules ( without mods ) have an crazy speed and a god sailing profile?

You understand that a stock Requin ( without mods ) can't be catch sailing upwind?

I am not saying that is not to blame mods. Yes mods imo needs to be reworked however i am just saying the DLC ships already came with some OP features that needs to be rework.

What about a stock Prince sailing upwind, a stock Renomee sailing at 150°, a stock Surprise at beam?

    Trolling a bit aside:

Rework/nerf all mods (logical groups, diminishing return, etc...), nerf hard spanish/pirate (or totally rework them). Make pirate not working on Requin.

Buff Requin profile as with built in basic (and nerfed) pirate rig.

    Result?

No more flying Bellonas, no more uberflying Hercules, no more Requin lo/wo speed capped at close haul, no more Requin flying 15.5 at 130°.

So you're saying there's no server for those of us who want fun competetive battles?  I have no interest in either side of a "gank", because they aren't fun for either side.

    1. Competitive Battle can be PBs. Anything without a mechanic avoiding numbers matter, will end in an uneven fight. Always.

    2. This is a WarGame. War is never fair nor balanced. Play Chess if you want an even 'battle'.

    3. Then let's discuss about "competitive":

    Hercules v Hercules is competitive?

A 4000 hr vet. vs a 50 hr newbie can ever be?

A top geared gold 5/5 Bellona vs a basic modded 3/5 Pavel is competitive?

Where's the exact border of competition? And where the sealcubbing?

  4. I sincerely see in the safety issue partly, again, a modding issue and in the end a reward/risk issue, both for capitols inhabitants and wolves too.

    1. Reward: sinking an unarmed trader brig is worth 5 PVP marks. The same of sinking a modded Requin lead by a Vet.

Effort and risks of the two targets are simply not comparable.

    - Possible solutions:

Permanent PVP ranking. Killing an adversary well under of your standing will be less and less rewarding. Killing someone well over your standing will be more and more rewarding. Something similar to Chess ranking system.

Moreover reward per ship has to be completely rebalanced AND some way to reward a lone captain fighting impossible odds even not sinking nobody to get a reward someway.

    2. Risk: a competitive ship is worth over 5 mil. up to over 10 mil. This kind of risk is acceptable only for rich veterans. Sub par ship are usually not worth using. Moreover majority of the cost is devoted to mods... That are what breaking ship balance.

    - Solution: rebalance bonuses and availability. To let people being able to have decent ships but not too expensive and making risking them in not optimal situations still acceptable.

    3. Safety of Capitols: the main reason to hunt there is bound to 'gain per time ratio'.

I am sure to find targets in KPR area so potentially I have the best gain/time ratio. So I hunt there. So I end up sinking noobs, so they get even more fearful to leave safe zone, so there are even more there, so I keep going there. Recursive situation (and Brits complaining should remember too their raiding in MT area... or killing noobs close to their Capitol is sealcubbing if the victims are brits, not if they are rats?).

    - Solution: more and more reasons (progression, better AI fleets/drops, better markets, anything!) to get out and SPREAD in the map. Then making very limited (as noted above) safe zones.

    - Last note:

I would like to underline Caribbean server is a PVP one. PVP is normally being ganked and gank.

If someone doesnt like to be ganked I suggest to reroll in PVE server.

Still I suspect majority of whiners dont like to be ganked, but they WANT to have chances TO GANK if a nice and safe chance arises.

what we see is that all meta ships have almost same pvp K/D ratio

Some whiners will repeat Requin has a better KD ratio... Forgetting two factors.

She dies less having a profile opposite to others square rigged. So escaping more often.

And the KD doesnt take into account what got killed and thus how many marks the metaship gets.

I'd bet that adding that to datas (so making a "PVPmarks farmed per death") will put other ships ahead of Requin.

What needs to be fixed too is the new player protection in "green zones". Today, the protection in zero. A new player attacked by three xebecs, as I saw this yesterday, will get helped by IA Mercuries and brigs. LOL. Rest in peace.

I (and a lot of Requin users) repeat that moving her to 5th would solve a good share of issues.

    Also AI reinforcement one.

First fight I had against the Xebec was against Licinio. Ended in a draw. Xebec versus Hercules. Was truly epic, given my average at best performance in NA in general.

But... invading the OW battles in zone makes the xebec be the "rage ship of the month" when any other ship can do the same. I suggested changes regarding this.

I remember. Almost up to timer end.

Now I am better with Requin. 😀

    And I gear mine better.

Honestly a well geared Requin is an Hercules killer... Not forgetting Hercules kills almost anything with ease 1v1... But people complains only about Requin 😣

  8. @MassimoSud

    A couple more notes.

Get back to 1 repair per kind per battle.

And magically you'll see all raiders disengaging at the first bad hit at sails or hull.

Or may be do some rich vet dislike the idea of losing a shiny 5/5 at the first error?

Then cancel Enterprise like crew teleport in OW. And magically all boarders will able to stand one/two battles before returning home.

As a last note. I got back a Niagara and finishing to train her to try raiding with her (I wished a xebec, I got an OP one, but usually I never sailed the meta ship: never leveled the Trinco - used Endymion, still at 4 books on Surprise - I used the Renomee, still at 4 book with Bellona - and used a true lot the Connie.

I did some tests on Niagara... And almost surely she is not usable: too slow with today metas (Requin, Hercules, Bellona,...).

So what should I do? Coming to KPR ti get sunk in a PVP marks give away? Farm AIs? Or use the best solution at the moment?

    You. What would you do?

  9. @MassimoSud Greetings.

You described mainly a couple of our clashes. About asking "fair" duels, I would underline that related mocking comes replying to a dozen frigs hunting a single Requin and trying (infinite times) to taunt me calling me coward.

That said, as well noted, the hit and run tactic is old as history (and NA: speedmeta FTW). And it is the only reasonable way to hunt alone (both safety wise and potential gain per time wise). Why boarding (damned nerfed now in defender favour: buffed brace, barricade, DD perk - would you like to remember how easier 1 year ago?)? Because in a safe zone time matters: boarding is the fastest way to kill a ship.

I raided MT on Global the same way with a Renomee for months. And without fancy books or stuff.

Requin is better at it. Plain and simple. I would like to try raiding on a shooner or again on a Renomee. But it is not working at the moment. And not my fault.

Is Requin better as hull or due to mods? Do you know that a light Requin running with the wind speed is like 8/9 kts? Without pirate even at broad reach she cant get over 12.

A fast 5/5 Wappen is deadly with super mods (Privateer docet). Try to use one 3/5 without spending a gazillion: almost un-usable.

So we get in the same point: the problem are mods, not ship. The Requin again is the symptom, not the disease.

When rich vets like you would give up 15+ kts. Bellonas able to hunt down fast frigates I will gladly give up Requin and raid on square rigged ships again too.

you troll in game and on forum .. guess that confirms your status

I really rarely troll in forums.

I rarely troll in Battle... If not provoked first.

I felt a bit guilty after posting in this case. Thanks for cancelling that feeling.

That said: if you do not see that balance issues are 90% a mod/book problem and less than 10% ship problem, you confirm your status.

  11. Honestly, the simplest solution to stern camp to death and therefore setting an end to corvettes sinking SoLs is pretty simple.

No ship get crew hits under 50% crew.

Or a strong diminishing return on crew hits as it drops similar to chains against badly damaged sails balanced that way it would be next to impossible to reduce enemy crew under 50%.

This way a 1st rate will keep in any case 500+ crew making her un-boardable by frigs.

Deleting DD (or reworkibg it like longer timer to start a boarding - so more time for defender to speed up) would be necessary.

@z4ys there is no point discussing about this subject with you, have fun in the forum and in the game.

I do agree mods are OP, but this does not mean Le Requin is by any means a normal ship, it is super OP.

As usual missing the point like broadsides.

Without pirate refit Requin is a big Prince going 12kts at broad reach!

So she is not by herself super OP. Any square rigged would be faster downwind.

N-time: Requin is the symptom not the disease.

Moreover Requin underlines far more than others terrible levels of skills of a lot of captains.

When people is unable to resist a push to wind at broad reach on an Endy, it's their fault. If people NEVER get boarding ready against a Requin is their fault. If people dont use barricades and boarding axes is their fault. If people use counter-attack without boarding mods and with less crew is their fault.

Why is it ok to have a 15.5 bellona but its not ok to have a 15.5kn le requin?

Why is it ok to have a 250+ boarding prince but its not ok to have 362 crew le requin?

Why is it ok to escape upwind with a trader lynx but not with a le requin?

Why it is ok to have a 32pd niagara but not a 32pd le requin?

Why is it ok to have a almost full pb fleet of oceans but not a almost full pb fleet of le requins?

I am not protecting the ship actual i am fighting for to make it as it should be. But i hate those claims to balance the ship after mods that could be used instead of balancing those mods in gernal that bvreak the game in so many ways and not only for the le requin.

    Because it's humiliating losing a 3/4th rate to a 6th.

Me like you, we are repeting Requin needs a rebalance LIKE GREAT MAJORITY OF SHIPS: too many ships, too many missing a role.

    Wanna the list?

Why using a Victory (or a Santissima) in place of L'Ocean? Why using St.Pavel in place of Bucetaure? Why using a 3rd rate in place of Bellona? Why ever using a Connie? Why using a Cerberus? Why using a Frigate? Or an Essex? Not to speak about using an Hercules in place of almost any 5th rate at the moment.

Requin users are repeting all the same: Requin op-ness is a MODS/BOOK ISSUE FAR MORE THE SHIP HERSELF (aside her 6th rate ranking). So she is more the symptom than the disease.

I have still to read the same whiners asking for nerfing flying Bellonas. So I'd ask again: why 15+ kts Bellonas are ok and Requins no?

What's weird I do not remember the same outrage for Wasas spaceships of one year ago.

And the were far more OP than Requin now.

The funniest party is that having a decent Requin is REALLY EASY: you need 10 bucks and 1 400k Perm (pirate refit).

So it's in the end FAR MORE "DEMOCRATIC" than those Wasas (requiring super rare and expensive copper plating, 30pvp marks for the ship and fancy books to be that OP).

Can some heavy whiners replay to a part, at least, of my questions?

I totally agree, unfortunately it will be along wait: To quote admin:

"Hard numbers in the DLC wont change. Ship stats mentioned in store might change ONLY if ALL ships are drastically rebalanced over time. (eg all ships will lose 1 knot of speed or gain 1 knot of speed for general game balance).

It's here to stay, they can't fix this one. Most of the people I had been playing with have uninstalled already.

I get slated cos I keep repeating this in chat and in the forums and am told I am talking nonsenseThere is consensus that the DLC has broken the game, but many have been slow to realise that this is permanent. :(

Aside some small tweak on Requin (move her to 5th, ban from PBs and so in) the problem with her arent her stats: it is how pirate refit works on her.

There's plenty issues (in the past: wasas star destroyers, now Requin but also 14+ evinrood powered Bellonas).

But majority of these are created by mods/books and overstacking of them.

Requin, as she is now, is not the disease: it's the (strong for sure) symptom.

The disease (a long lasting one with enormous consequencies in game balance and interest in it especially by casuals/new players) are mods/books/woods stat.

One more thing, on top of that something needs to be implemented to reward being nr 1 more then it is now.

Maybe not a reward that will unbalance power, but something that makes players really want to struggle for that nr 1 spot. Will make nations not settle for nr 2. They will want that first spot.

Banners, flags, paints, could be the answer. Only vanity.

I do appreciate the idea to give a reason for a nation pushing for 1st place in RvR (and something less shiny 2nd top).

But losing (SMALLER but REALLY safe) reinforcements zones.

So inviting people to join 3/4th ranked.

    Thumbs up.

I suggest the sniping use of single ranging shots to be removed, by preventing single shots from damaging ships, so only broadside firing would actually be useful for damage.

    Discuss...

If related to the ubercrappiness of mast sniping, granted purposely aiming at masts should not be a viable tactic being totally unreal, same result could be obtained buffing masts HP.

I suggested to more or less double mast HP but making actual HP function of sail damage (ie. damage to ropes making mast less stable).

    As an example:

    Today mast HP = 100

New mast HP = 200x sail% at the moment. So 150 with sail at 75%.

It'll be still possible to demast a ship, still only one (as in reality) already damaged to rigging. And aiming at masts against a ship in good order would usually be a waste of balls.

Closed the mast sniping crappiness, the single shot is needed for proper aiming at long distances.

Conclusion: granted the reasoning is mast sniping, the proposal is getting another problem in place of solving the real issue.
