  1. Dear @admin,

i just read that it seems your intention to keep the Admiral de Ruyter as an event ship, is it true?

If so, I’d kindly ask you to reconsider this.

Not only the dutch have been looking forward to get this vessel crafted and thus competitive!

Please ad permits to the game for this beautiful vessel!

This could be done for example by granting a chance to get them via gold chests or by implementing a permanent event where players can obtain such permits.

I agree on the leak problem and usability issues of the Victory, a fine ship that is useless in the current meta. Victory (and Pavel) need help.

    Nitpick:

    • Victory and Santisima were in battles on opposing side lots of times but never in a duel.
    • Victory never dueled an Ocean class ship.
    • By being on the winning side a ton of 74 gun ships 'survived or even defeated' the large first rates too, does that automatically make them superior? - it's not a good argument

I could ofc be wrong on this and would be happy to see if there actually ever was a duel Vic vs X :)

You’re right about the Victory vs. another 1st rate thing:

    - Vic vs Santi both in fleets happened

    - Vic vs. l‘Ocean class idk, probably not (look up the two battles of Ouessant and the battle of St. Vincent lineup, if you can get a hand on it)

    - I also don’t think that there had been real duells between Vic and other SOL, because they almost never sailed alone as far as I know.

Sorry for being inaccurate in the phrasing of my words.

I also didn’t want to suggest that the Vic was superior to the other 1st rates,  just want her to be sort of equall in game because she certainly has kept up with them back in the days.

Edit: And yes, the Pavel also needs help!

  3. Dear devs,

as you surely know the HMS Victory is one of the most if not the most famous vessel from the age of sail. It has not only taken part in some major battles and been Nelson’s flagship at Trafalgar. It also survived or even defeated the other first rates implemented into the game.

Her legend is that great and her service so long, that you consider to bring her into the game in a classic version - as I understand!?

    But why?

Imo the Victory in game is pretty much obsolete as it is right now, because of the following:

    1. The other first rates are superior in durability (combination of thickness, hp and hull shape).

Combined with the Victory beeing prone to a steep heel, the danger of getting leakshot exceeds those of the other 1st rates by a large margin.

    2. The other first rates have better top speeds.

    3. The Victory‘s better upwind sailing abilities are too slight to be called a real asset / advantage over the other first rates.

    4. The Victory has a better turnrate than the other first rates, but that’s not of much importance in big line fights like portbattles. In open world fights the faster 2nd and 3rd rates are the better option because of thier speed, better sailing profiles and turnrate.

5 . Keeping the above mentioned things in mind the Victory has a rather high br value compared with other SOL, that makes her even less useful:

If the br limit in pb is too low to field enough l’Oceans and Santis you‘d rather pic Christians or Buccentaures.

They have far less br than the Vic although they have similar damage, thickness, hp and turnrate plus more speed.

I’d really appreciate a classic version of the Vic, but without buffing both versions of the ship it seems rather pointless to implement her into the game.

It would be great though if you’d tweak her stats so she could be a good alternative to the other 1st rates again.

As this is not meant as an accusation I’d appreciate you commenting this post - if I’m wrong or you have another opinion tell me, I’d like to read your reasons.

I saw that an update to the game in Steam this morning.... was that a patch, an update or something else?

Might have been the update which uncludes the last chapters of the US campaign.

This was released on 6th of April but my steam loaded it yesterday, although I played a bit every day.

  5. Dear devs,

would it be possible for you to post the kind of changes and hotfixes a new update / patch for UA: AoS contains?

... Like it has been and sometimes still is in the NA patch notes thread?

I would very much appreciate that!

Have you tried using other cannons than the Armstrongs?

Yes I have, but usually other basic ones.

Because of the drastic weight changes and your suggestions I‘ve begun to invest in and test other technologies / canons though.

Re-equipping my American and British fleets will be quite expansive it seems!

  7. In fact it‘s not only affecting those kind of ships, the mentioned upgrade seems to have an increased weight in general.

I‘m also unable to sail my Bellona and Leda class with similar upgrade configurations.

  8. @Malkor You might be right about the necessity of gear enhancement, when it comes to line fights between SOL.

I haven’t had such major sea battles yet - did the British campaign and am almost up to the battle of Yarmouth in the American campaign.

But I’d guess the success even of such battles depends also on how well the broadsides would be delivered (stern takes, masts shot away) and thus on manoeuvering!?

  9. After todays update my sloops were at thier maximum capacity of weight and my Cerberus class frigate was overloaded.

This was the case with the following settings: All those ships had Copper Sheathing 1 and Light Gun Carriages upgradewise, standard Armstrong canons and optimal crew seize.

Imo that shouldn‘t be, because these upgrades seem very basic to me and one is even targeting the reduction of weight!

If Light Gun Carriages doesn’t effect the guns weight enough to be able to put an additional copper sheathing on the ships hull it seems a very poor upgrade to me.

Thus I assume it is a bug!?

  10. Idk if buying better canons for all decks is a must have.

I just bought better ones for the upper deck of my Bellona and think it fine for battling Ardent class or lower at least.

That way you’d aparently spare lots of money.

then when you capture the larger ship and after up gunning and improving the ship to the max, it turns out to be a paper tiger not nearly as effective as when you were up against it.

At least some of this might come from the untrained crew you place on it.

Thier expierience does far more than the ships Upgrades imo.

It is that way, yes. Not so much with regular ships, but with elite ships, privateers, port raids ships, and few others, they fight like tomahawk equipped Iowa class and when you capture them, they are fir bermuda shabby grey ships (overplaying the issue, but they mostly are).

It is something you need to get used to and it is only getting worse with constant buffs to those. They have hidden modifiers we cant get in the name of balance. Unfortunately.

I mean, I am almost fine with them having huge armor and firepower, but I am not OK with their speed. It denies physics. There is no way for player to make e.g. Santissima with 100+ amor go over 13knots like home defence fleets do. You just need to settle with one simple explanation to ease your mind over this - Magic

I think you refer to NA, don‘t you!?

This thread is about UA: AoS though.

  13. Did the Bunker Hill mission again about an hour or two ago.

Succeded with a bolder strategy than yesterday but noticed, that i might still have been crushed all the same, If a powerfull enemy unit had find a way up the hill.

They seemed to be trapped below the steep slope on the right side of the hill ...

  14. Played Bunker Hill yesterday on medium difficulty.

    I had no chance!

It was much harder than any landbattle of the british campaign.

After watching gameplay videos of the Bunker Hill battle on YouTube i got the impression, that lots of units were missing on my side in yesterdays atempt to win Bunker Hill.

  15. Imo it is good, that capturing ships or pounding them to submission is easier than to sink them, because it was like that back in the days.

For me the gameplay concerning this topic feels good right now.

But i’ve only played the british campaign once so far, so my expirience is very limited.

Edit: Played it on medium, both sea and land battles.

US campaign is ready and in testing now by backers (people who backed the game). British campaign is in work. It is  hard to give estimations because we are busy with multiple things in the game.

    Ok, i understand that!

    Thanx for the quick response!

  17. Hey devs,

your doing a good job with this game so far!

As i‘m close to finish the british campaign as it is right now and i‘m looking forward to the next part.

That leads to the following (ugrent 😉) question:

When can we expect the last parts of both campaigns?

Could you give an estimated date please?

  18. @sterner @Ink

I already sent you a f11 bug report last night. It is about the following problem:

I played snatch almost to the end but couldn't get to the evacuation point (blue flag to capture) right behind a little stream.

My units just wouldn't cross the water, although it was shallow and tips indicated that i should cross the stream at this particular site.

I also tried to get some units on the other side by using my longboats, but this didn't work either.

Please fix it and if possible inform me if it is fixed, because it is quite frustrating not being able to finish a rather long mission.

Although i like snatch a lot i wouldn't want to spend the time and try to finish it on and on.
