  1. The ships are fine imho. It's the stackable mods which are unbalanced on these ships because they are such specialist ships.
  2. I agree with a lot of your points on dlc ships but if you restrict some of their activities i think it will balance out a bit better.
  3. Lol. The will to live is slowly slipping away. 😁😁
  4. The economy won't over inflate because of these two ships. And I have always said no DLC ships in events or port battles.
  5. I dont think that at all. You dont like the new stuff that's cool. But keep it in perspective. It's a 6th and a 5th rate. You have the economy and crafting etc for ALL the other ships in the game! These two ships won't break anything. The vast majority of ships is this game are 4th rate plus so chill out and see how it goes. Now when is my DLC victory plus turning up😁 please devs....(that's a joke by the way).
  6. You OWN that dumbness its your right as a player.
  7. Unless you sail DLC ships with no mods at all in which case they are not that good then you will lose your mods and repairs crew etc so why would you be suicidal with one Also when you redeem one it could be great or a duff.
  8. Ah.... Games moved from all the exploits you used and don't bother to deny them I'm not intrested. The game you used to play was simple and easy. Now it's realistic and hard.... You would be lost at sea, ranting like captain birdseye.
  9. Lol. This post really cheered me up. You want a boarding ship to not board you, instead you want it to roll up alongside and fire duel you! lol. ( I was in my Herc........) argument over. I won't even comment on the bowsprit which makes no sense at all.
  10. If they keep DLC ships specialized and small then the eco wont be effected. Crafting is easy and buying good ships is also easy. A few AI missions and you can afford basic ships from the market. DLC will bring more casual players in and that's a win win.
  11. I just don't see the xebec problem your talking about. We are a still sailing our normal ships. It's hercs we are fighting against not xebec. Xebecs are pretty useless to be honest unless you play their game which we don't. They are weak to damage. Their rudder gets hit a lot, they turn shit, they can't stop. If they try and board and fail they get ripped to pieces AND sink quickly. However they can escape and they Can pick their fights. Also they were tested by us all and tried before release. You can't really blame the devs??
  12. Yes that would work to. Its the mods and their selection and stacking that changes theses ships into super ships. If Mods were nerfed across the board would bring more skill and balance to the game. I fear there are to many greedy players with white knuckles grasping onto OP mods. That's the real issue these DLC ships have brought up.
  13. The post was about surviving a Xebec not necessarily killing one and it was tips to help with that. One of our guys dueled with a Xebec in a snow and sank it in 5 minutes. And its worked for me. I fear no Xebec. I have sunk one, drawn with one(he escaped) and to lost one. You have to fight smart. that's all I was saying, they are not your typical ship. Herc on the other hand.... OP - IMHO.
  14. Why do you constantly moan about (If you fit this and if you fit that like elite pirate refit mod) The vast majority of players will never even have an elite mod let alone fit it to a DLC ship! You really are trying to fix two DLC ships which elite players are modding up to unrealistic levels. A standard xebec and Hercules are fine and balanced. Nerf the ridiculous mod bonus which can be stacked to create super ships. If they change these DLCs now that they have been tested and paid for then watch the negative reviews shred the games reputation even further and forget about future DLC sales. Change the mods across the board not the ships because an elite few don't like them or abuse them.
  15. Not so at all. Hercs outnumber xebec 5 to 1. Most gankers now sail Hercs, normally around safe zones attacking soft targets.
  16. I agree, Mods like this would add flavour and not unbalance the game.
  17. Where did anyone say no mods? Where did anyone say no builds? why would wealthy PVEers want pvp mods?
  18. The DLC ships are fine without mods and they give the casual player a decent ships for low input into the game. (in reality its these people we need, the dippers if you will.) The Xebec is a bugger to sail and is hard to stop and sinks like a stone if hit right. Just don't play its game. The Hercules is a bit OP I agree but not to the point of being invincible. However its the stackable mods which totally skew these ships and others. Without those stacks balance would be about learning to to sail and hard choices of speed or toughness or fire power but not all three. Example: Pirates could not shoot for shit, they relied on speed, fear and boarding. So light, fast ships with lots of crew. English navy were renowned for fire power. so reload mods and good shooting. Neither had should have both to excess. As for mods that give a better bonus to one ship design over another, if you use a universal 'mod fits any ship system' then mods will perform better on certain ships. (That's just life). Pirate refit is great for xebec, lynx, privateer.........actual pirate ships.
  19. I love this game. BUT I believe that the mods and knowledge trees in NA while excellent in principal are slowly killing the game. Remember the days of mass battles and tight escapes, lone hunting and feeling that you might just beat those two gankers? The gulf between players is far to wide. A new player to middle casual player who gets a full broadside in on a modded ship will see hardly damage caused and cannot compete with its speed, maneuverability etc. Add to this the skill of the other player and its never been harder to learn and grow in NA. When i started early 2016, I used to grab any ship I could afford and sail out of Kingston right into the 'Sorry' fleet was camped there. I would sail in rough circles and would fire furiously thinking I was great and would see damage inflicted. I usually sank in about five minutes BUT I FELT LIKE I COULD DO SOMETHING! Now........A good player in a modded ship will shred and sink an average player in no time and the average player will hardy do any damage at all and feel like its all a bit hopeless. Before anyone says they should get better blah blah blah,...... I am talking about people who have partners, children, jobs and lives and 1 account. The bread and butter of NA, not the dark room, pizza eating, 3 alt account crowd, who's main achievement in life is being an NA captain. So, I propose that all mods be nerfed to 1% max. Knowledge skills similarly. More DLC ships of all sizes. More DLC packs of visuals, role play type stuff. Crafted ships to have random bonuses to allow flavour but not so much as to unbalance a fight. Much more PVE content. This would mean that manual sailing, shot selection, ammo tactics, type of ship to style of play, repairs etc would again become the most important thing, not which clan you are in and how modded your ship is. This would allow for great battles again and allow more players to compete in an ever shrinking player base of uber elites. Remember the days of mass battles and tight escapes, lone hunting and feeling that you might just beat those two gankers? lets bring back those hopeful times.
  20. And here's a tip. 1. Use your telescope. If the xebec has Carros sit off it and tear it apart. 2. Stay downwind of xebec. 3. Use your "historical" stern camper to historically stern camp it. " snow etc" 4. Fire at the very exposed rudder. 6. Sail with upwind taggers. 7. Don't get close to xebec. 8. Plan your sailing to fight downwind of xebec. 9. Use new tactics if how you have always won does not work. 10. Don't expect your 'favourite' ship to be able to beat everything. 11. To summarise. Stay downwind. Don't get boarded or pushed around into wind. Use manual sailing to keep your board speed above 4 knots. Use your telescope. If losing run downwind. 12. If he's board modded he can't shoot for shit. 13. Hopes this helps you all with the terrible xebec bullies. Xebecs are only as good as those they fight against.
  21. For the hysterical historical whinners. Just Google the xebec. "Sea-going Mediterranean peoples greatly favoured xebecs as corsairs. The corsairs built their xebecs with a narrow floor to achieve a higher speed than their victims, but with a considerable beam in order to enable them to carry an extensive sail-plan. The lateen rig of the xebec allowed the ship to sail close hauled to the wind, something that often give it an advantage in pursuit or escape. The use of oars or sweeps allowed the xebec to approach vessels who were becalmed. When used as corsairs, the xebecs carried a crew of 300 to 400 men and mounted perhaps 16 to 40 guns according to size. In peacetime operations, the xebec could transport merchandise."
