  1. Just an added thought - for factions you do help and build reputation with - could you potentially use custom flags for that faction when you are in battle on their side? Say, hypothetically I helped Britain to a point where I got 25 reputation points, it would be nice to be able to choose to use the Harp of Erin flag when I joined a fight on their side.
  2. For those who think Pirates should be exempt to make them "special" - it has long been established that Pirates are just another nation, with ports, an uncapturable island with Capital Fleets, and ships of the line. You cannot have your Disney Fantasy AND be exempt from the rules of everyone else. IMHO, the only way pirates should be treated as anything other than a faction with a black flag is if they are forced to act like real pirates - Free Ports Only, no RvR.
  3. I truly don't understand what people are complaining for. People have been screaming for anti-zerg mechanics. Boom. Here is one.
  4. If elite PvPers do not want to deal with getting raided, they can always shift to one of the factions that is not the top three. Assuming Russia, the United Provinces, and Great Britain are the three largest that leaves: France, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Pirates, United States, Spain, and Prussia. That's a lot of cool flags to pick from.
  5. Are there any plans for PvP raids in the future - say if a small faction wanted to raid a large faction without so much warning?
  6. Just as a point of order - the only reason I wasn't in the PB was because I was subbed out at the last minute to be a one-man screener
  7. I'm confused on so many levels. I'm terrified to ask, but what are you actually proposing?
  8. Are any of these not correct? Ship stats Class - 6th rate Crew - 250 Max Speed - 13+ knots Guns - 30
  9. So, basically anyone who bought PvP reward books during the window where all was tied to PvE rewards are upset that they no longer have that advantage over newcomers. Good.
  10. The first meeting between the Rovers and the Free Tribes:
  11. For many moons, the Free Tribes have sailed under the bunting of the Americas. The flag was flown far and wide, making calls at distant ports, and upsetting the dinners of many a hapless merchant. Friends have been made, victories hard won, and losses learned from. However, with the Great Powers of the world once again struggling over the Caribbean, it is at this time the Iroquois Confederacy haul down the Stars and Stripes and raise a new flag. We offer the following thoughts before leaving: Be sure to spread throughout the map. You need not claim ports, but you must show your flag. A light ship, a daring Captain, and a patrol through foreign waters can ever turn up a plum. Do not be alarmed by others coming to hunt your waters. A concentrated school of fish will always bring sharks - but dispersal will help here too. Choose your fights if you can, boldly work your guns if you cannot. We wish you the best of luck, and look forward to a bright future for our late home.
  12. I'm just quickly skimming because it seems most of this is whining about a 4th Rate - I apologize if it's been answered already. It seems like with the econ changes and the building wipe, it might be time for a ship wipe too so we can see how this economy really sinks or swims. Any thoughts?
  13. I apologize for bombarding you with questions and commentary: Will fort placement fall into the same mold forts are currently in? IE - Will clans simply choose to build forts in the exact same physical locations they are in currently, or will they be able to place them where they choose around a fort? (The latter would be better, but would take much more programmer time, I expect.)
  14. Also - in a shameless plug - might I suggest adding a fourth type of port: A ship breaker? (The breaking up of ships feature that we have is never utilized because it gives next to nothing for materials when they're broken up. There's a write-up I did yesterday or the day before if you'd like a link.)
  15. So - to build awesome ships, you would have to hyper-specialize one port, which would make it impossible to hyper-specialize the same port into a defense area, which would make it impossible to hyper-specialize the same port into a mining hub - do I understand that correctly? If so, might I suggest that only region capitals could be so specialized, so that some sailing between the mining and crafting is required?
  16. Iron has always been a fantastic catch, because it's so expensive to get. It is not super common, because those are generally short hauls, protected by forts, however, they have historically happened. The vast majority of traders captured of late have been hauling trade goods - as it is profitable to haul them long distances. (Long distance means blue-water sailing, which provides an opportunity to hit someone before they get under the guns of a fort) The removal of forts will make those short hauls vulnerable, however, if there are no short hauls... Like I said, I'm nervous about it, but will be willing to test and see
  17. Very excited about the fortification changes. Clan-based forts is huge! A little nervous about this: I like as many merchants on the water as possible (for obvious reasons :P), but I'm definitely interested to see how it works out.
