  1. And how would this work in an open world? Some of your proposed settings give a player an advantage, which would force every other player to use the same settings or be forced to play at a disadvantage. Slightly ironic is how that seems to contradict your proposal #4. You don't want others to tell you how to play your game, but you propose measures that would force others to play in your way
  2. Has been discussed a 100 times already on this forum. It's too sensitive for exploiting.
  3. This one I have also proposed in the "server names" topic. Make underpopulated servers and nations have a "Receommended" sign. The rest if your ideas aren't any good imho. You can't "balance" nations by making them "inbalanced" (special traits) in the first place.
  4. How did he try to "steal" that? Was he hacking into your computer? Was he breaking into your house to take over your keyboard? He used normal game mechanics. People can join battles that others started and if they then board a ship in that battle, they can keep it. Don't want that to happen? Then hunt prey somewhere further away where not many other players are. There's never a reason for deliberate friendly fire. You should consider yourself fortunate that you get a friendly warning to stop your abusive behaviour, instead of an immediate ban, even after you've admitted that your actions were deliberate.
  5. Verenigde Provincieën (Dutch) has a VERY active community. Lots of dutch players in, but also other nationalities. We have dutch towns (Willemstad, Fort Oranje, Fort Zoutman, etc) and in battle we sail under the dutch flag
  6. Due to the very nature of this game, I agree that the AFK-implementation needs to be chosen very carefully. In most other games, 15-20 minutes is easily long enough. But I think a lot of people alt-tab out of the game on very long travels that can easily last more than 30 minutes.
  7. Current situation: Server comes up after maintenance+patch. Players login, 1000 people queue. People wait in the queue for 30+ minutes and when they finally get to login the game tells them they have a wrong revision and need to update. Then they update and have to requeue. Please make the client do a revision-check and deny the option to queue for login until they have an updated client.
  8. Just to show the aussies that it's not always them who get "hit". Saturday... clean up the house in the morning, do the shopping, some other chores that need doing around the house. All done, ready to play! Log on, hop in a battle... "Server down in 30 minutes!" Damnit. That was 2 hrs and 45 mins ago. Servers still down.
  9. Congratulations! Not just on hitting EA, but also on shooting straight to the top on steam sales in the first hours or so. Well deserved! Looking forward to the improvements, new ships and exciting new stuff.
  10. HOME! Just in time. That wasn't at all planned or anything. No really. It wasn't!
  11. My god. I think I am stuck in some space-time-continuum. This work day seems never ending!
  12. Fair enough. So give us 3 chars per account, I buy 5 accounts and I "win". Is that good? (also see my post above) Just to avoid people misunderstanding me, I'm not an advocate of more than 1 char per account, nor am I an advocate for only 1 char per account. I'm simply saying it will not matter. At all.
  13. To be honest, I think it's pretty easy to play 10 characters. All I need from them is the crafting hours really. If I was unemployed, I could easily level one character and use the others for crafting materials. But even if I couldn't.... Ever heard of World of Warcraft? People hiring other people to level their characters? If I wanted, I could buy 10 accounts and pay some people to craft me stuff with all the characters. In the end it's all just time, money, or both. Again; whatever number you pick, 1 char per account, 3, 5, 10, 100.... someone will win, someone will lose.
  14. But others can. So if they make 10 character per account, you will have 10. But others can have 20. Or 30. So you'd be at a disadvantage anyway. Where's the limit? How many characters do you need per account where it stops being an advantage to buy a second account to have more chars? 3? 5? 10? 100? Let's say it's 10. Let's assume that when you have 10 characters per account, it doesn't make sense to have a second account, because you don't have enough time in one day to spend the hours of more than 10 characters anyway... But some people only have 2 hours a day to spend on the game. So then théy will be at a disadvantage, because they don't have the time to play with more than one character. Either way, whatever system you choose, some people will "lose", others will "win". In some systens, the "rich" people win, in other systems unemployed people (with plenty of time) win. A moot discussion. Let the devs choose whatever they think best and accept that someone always loses.
  15. imho, this whole discussion is moot. There will always be people trying to max out the system. Some people have a tom of time available, other people have a ton of money, some have both, others have neither. If you have 1 char per account, some people will buy a second, or third account to maximize further. If you have 3 chars per account, some people will use all three to maximize their crafting or gold-making. Some people will buy a second account so they can have 6 chars and maximize further. If you have 6 chars per account... well, you catch my drift. In the end it's the people with less time and/or less money who suffer. Is this bad? Not per sé. You spend a ton of money on the game to get 2, 3, or more accounts, all players benefit. More money to the devs, more development on the game for all of us. If you give us all 3 chars per account, only the people with enough time on their hands will benefit, no one else. Either way, whatever system you choose, there will *always* be people trying to maximize it to their benefit.
  16. Just for consideration, the Dutch (Verenigde Provinciën) tend to mainly speak english online. The TS is usually in english, even when there's only Dutch people present.
  17. You're welcome. Here's something to fill the wait with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze8Y1gokHyA
  18. Tomorrow will not bring us much, right? If I got it right, servers will still be down tomorrow.
  19. The instance that had mostly frigates in it went fine. No lag, crashes or delays were noted. The matchmaking could have been a bit better though. I felt that the red team (red flags) was doomed from the start. Perhaps they were equal in BR, but the same BR split over a lot more smaller ships seems to have an advantage.
