  1. Hi Storm95. Cannot reproduce your problem, rotation works fine. Can you please report the bug using the bug report button (lower left corner)? Hi Angiel. Check your manual to see if there is a function in your touch pad that simulates the middle button. If there is not one, google and you'll find some free utilities that can do that.

Hi mhladnik. In game's main menu, Options, Gameplay, change the LoS indicator if you want the old way of LoS functioning.
  3. Good observation, Jenkins' and Ferguson's portraits need to be reversed. Thanks N.C. Rebel!
  4. Grouping is a very fresh feature. After we ensure that it works ok. we shall proceed in improvements. Just to note here that 5 is the limit of the assigned groups. You can have unlimited unassigned groups (for moving, targeting, etc.). Is the charge used often by all 3 axes of AI characters? The aggressive axes should use them more often bu nature. Topography is under constant experimenting for finding the best solution under the limitation of 2D.
  5. The Generals can inspire all units. However, the units that belong to their Corps are inspired faster and more efficiently. Yes, this is the idea. Please have in mind the Generals presentation as special units is not final. The starting plans included Divisions commanders as well. However, adding many such units with special abilities might affect unpredictably the gameplay, so we are in a slow course here.

Hi curtlegion! Thanks for supporting UG:G. Do you hold the middle button and rotate the mouse the same time? Line of Sight appearance has changed. Now you will see the LoS area of a unit normally without any colors, while the rest of the map will be covered by the Fog of War. Also in game's main menu, Options, Gameplay options, you can choose if you want the LoS indicator to be on by default or not. In the first case the unit's LoS will appear immediately with the unit selection and in the second you will have to keep left click shortly to activate it. Try both to see witch one is more suitable for you.
  7. Hi TDHenedrson! Thanks for additional infos!
  8. Thank you all for supporting UG:G! We are very sorry for the problems you've experienced. Our programmers already work to fix these issues.
  9. We are very sorry for the problem you've met. Our team is already working on that. Thank you for supporting UG:G!
  10. Hi AerosolNinja! Thank you for supporting UG:G. We are very sorry for the problem you've met. Our team is working on that and soon a hotfix should be expected.
  11. FAQ list has been updated. Please, fell free to suggest additional questions that you think we should include in the FAQ list.
  12. The game will be available for Win, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android.
  13. There is a good variety of pre-determined positions for the units between phases and game picks the most suitable calculating previous positions of the units, terrain advantages and the strategic points of the upcoming battle and the historical facts. These calculation take in mind not only the individual positions of the units but also the entire division/corps/army's last position that units belong to and the new position of the enemy. Generaly these positions will be close to the previous ones.
  14. Yes it will be. Thank you for supporting UG:G!
  15. It is not actually an OS problem, the game will play fine under Win XP. However there might be a problem with old hardware that usually is met with Win XP systems. If your hardware meets the neededrequirements, then you won't have a problem.
  16. Thanks for the info! We know these resources but the portraits we are looking for are not including. They are very tough cases (if exist!).
  17. Yes, we know the case. We have already used that one for BrigGen Richard Garnett.
  18. Thanks for the info. He is not Garnett but General Pender. Lane's old image is a good alternative -our artist makes miracles- if nothing better will be found. In any case I really appreciate your help!
  19. We are missing the images for three Confederate artillery battalion officers and we need your assistance to find them: Cpt Willis J. Dance - CS II Corps, Artillery Reserve, First Virginia Artillery Battalion Maj John Lane - CS III Corps, 1st Division, Cutt's Artillery Battalion Ltc John J. Garnett - CS III Corps, 2nd Division, Garnett's Artillery Battalion If you can spot any of them in your resources, please upload the image(s) here, along with the resource reference. If you spot them in a web sight then just post the link. Thanks in advance!

  21. The big problem with a slower pace is that when you get experienced with the gameplay, then it looks so... slow, especially in moments with less or no action (armies are deployed, reinforcements arrive, etc.). We still struggle to find the best choice. Have also in mind that, for not destructing the video flaw, it was captured without the use of "pause" at all. Perhaps this increases the speed feeling of the battle pace.
  22. We are working on an idea for producing a series of video AAR. They are made in the classic AAR style, include analysis, comments, diagrams, etc., presented in real time. Day 1 - Phase 1 battle video AAR is ready and soon will be availanble for watching. The Devils Den video AAR will follow.
  23. ULTIMATE GENERAL: GETTYSBURG AAR Player: United States of America Opponent: Confederate States of America AI Personality: Determined DAY 1: The first day of the battle In June 1863, Confederate General Robert Edward Lee moves the 75 000 men of the Army of Northern Virginia swiftly into south-central Pennsylvania. He aims to move the war out of Virginia and win a major battle in the North. Union General George Gordon Meade and his 95 000 strong Army of the Potomac moves toward Lee. By the end of June, General Lee decides to offer a battle and concentrates the Army of Northern Virginia where ten roads converge: Gettysburg! The largest and bloodiest battle in American history was about to begin. Gettysburg, June 30th, 1863 Brig. Gen. John Buford's Headquarters, 1st Division of Cavalry Corps (reconnaissance), Army of the Potomac It was reported to me that enemy forces had been spotted on Herr Ridge. I am not sure if they consist of a reconnaissance force or advance elements of the Army of Northern Virginia. Lee was last spotted at Winchester before moving to the north. The Old Fox has managed to advance unchecked for almost a week now and I know he is somewhere there behind those western mountains. Stuart's Confederate cavalry followed a different, eastern route and he has recently attacked Carlisle. Worse still, the main force of our Army is still north of Frederick. Movement of the two armies. Note: This is not a UGG screenshot. It is an edited historical map showing the 2 armies' moves the days before the battle. What are Lee's intentions? Is he going to keep advancing North and attack Harrisburg? Or he will turn south toward Washington and dictate peace terms? If the latter happens, then he must first gather his army and face the Army of Potomac coming from the south. There are ten roads converging here in Gettysburg and south of the city are strong, high ground positions. It is the perfect place to assemble his entire army and offer a battle from an advantageous position. I cannot risk the Confederates capturing that high ground. I'll send a message to Maj.Gen. John Reynolds to speed up his I Corps arrival to Gettysburg and I will for the worst. Gettysburg, July 1st, 1863 approx. 09:00 am My Videttes reported that Archer's and Davis' Brigades of Heth's Division are coming down Chambersburg Pike. Half a division cannot be a mere reconnaissance force. My worst fears are coming true. I'll send another message to Reynolds and begin preparing a defence. I have two cavalry brigades and one artillery battery on hand. My light skirmishers will not have a chance against heavy infantry brigades and a single battery cannot face down an entire army. I haven't seen any hostile reconnaissance cavalry so there is a good chance that Heth lacks intelligence about my forces. I can take advantage of my light units and skirmish with the enemy using hit and run tactics while my cavalry perform flanking maneuvers. This can give me the advantage of surprising the enemy and conceal our real numbers. The best available objective is to delay the Confederate advance until I Corps arrives. McPherson Ridge seems to be a good first line of defence. I'll keep Lieut. John Calef and his 2nd Battery on Seminary Ridge. They'll be on alert with canister shot in hand. Seminary to Oak Ridge will be the second line of defense. Delay and defence seems to be the best strategy given our circumstances. High ground will give me better sight-lines and longer weapon range, but troops will be more vulnerable to artillery. Hopefully, the forests will provide enough coverage from return fire. Heth approaches my meagre defences. Heth is approaching cautiously, having deployed skirmishers at his front to observe for my troops. Davis marches along the railroad cut north of Chambersburg Pike while Archer is moving in parallel south of the road. I'll send Devin's Skirmishers against Davis while the Videttes harass his left. The same will be done by Gamble's Dismounted Cavalry against Archer, with his Videttes on Archer's right. Gamble's Skirmishers have orders to remain close to McPherson woods and falling back after firing in case the enemy charges at them. Calef lacks line of sight further than McPherson Ridge but as soon as the enemy appears on the ridge, he will already be in range for shelling. First contact between the two forces Heth's Skirmishers have come within my skirmishers' range. The order to fire at will goes out and I hope my skirmishers hold. It's only 9:30 am, I wish time would fly on and I Corps would arrive. Archer is engaging my skirmishers around McPherson farm and I am trying to stop him, but his advance towards Seminary and Calef's Battery seems inevitable. I order Calef to fire one shell volley, then load canister and stand by. My men fight courageously, moving back and forth, but hostile artillery is devastating and causes heavy casualties in my ranks. Things turn worse when both Confederate brigades charge at my units. I sound a withdrawal when this happens. Archer and Davis repel Union skirmishers at McPherson Ridge. Gamble's skirmishers are trapped in a deadly hand to hand engagement with Archer's Brigade now. Davis has already repelled Devin's Skirmishers from the second line of defense and captured Oak Ridge. I order Devin's Skirmishers and Cavalry to keep striking Davis to prevent him from turning south and attacking the Seminary. I then order Gamble's Dismounted to strike Archer's right flank and the Cavalry to attack his rear. The skirmishers manage to rout Archer but suffer heavy casualties. Archer turns right to repel the threat - one shattering volley was enough for him and he turns back toward my Battery on Seminary Ridge just in time to receive canister shot from Calef. Davis charges against the Union forces holding Oak Ridge. Union skirmishers attempt to screen Calef's artillery from enemy attack. Archer's Brigade is shocked by the canister fire and halted for a moment, but Confederates seem determined to fight on. Davis has already started marching from Oak Ridge on the same target. The situation seems desperate, but a courier arrives with a message: General Reynolds approaches with his 1st Division. They're right on time and I order my battered troops to hold while Iron Brigade advances from the south. Gettysburg, July 1st, 1863, approx. 10:00 am Maj.Gen. John Reynolds' Headquarters, I Corps, Army of the Potomac General Buford was right. It seems that Lee is assembling his army here at Gettysburg. Latest reconnaissance reported that the rest of Heth's Division arrived on Herr Ridge with six batteries already deployed. Soon they will join the attack and once more, we'll be outnumbered. I need the rest of my Corps ASAP! Iron Brigade pursues Archer while Cutler and skirmishers repel Davis. I have to drive the Rebels back to Herr Ridge before their reinforcements join them. They are already very tired from their advance and their morale has been damaged by shell and canister. Iron Brigade is attacking Archer while Cutler advances on Davis. Skirmishers support the attack while Calef keeps his barrels hot and smoking. The Rebels, surprised by the counter attack begin a leaving behind many dead bodies. Iron Brigade is crossing Willoughby Run and Cutler is already on top of McPherson Ridge. I have to control their rush before they find themselves inside hostile shell range. Herr Ridge is reinforced and Heth already advances the rest of his Division: Pettigrew and Brockenbrough Brigades. I bring my Brigades back to form a line between the ridges of McPherson and Seminary-Oak. The enemy shall march on McPherson easily and will have the advantage of longer musket range due to the high ground but he will be exposed to my artillery fire. My line will have the disadvantage, holding lower ground but they will be covered against artillery fire. Brockenbrough's 1 000 men stand on the ridge firing on Cutler's 1 400 men. Soon, Pettigrew deploys his 2 500 strong brigade at Brockenbrough's right, just above McPherson farm on the ridge. I send skirmishers from my right flank to screen some of Brockenbrough's fire and gain some more time before the expected charge on Cutler, but charging was not necessary - a devastating volley upon Cutler and he falls back along with the skirmishers. At this point, the courier arrives with an important message: the rest of my I Corps is south of the city! Heth's full Division attacks as new Union reinforcements arrive from Gettysburg. Pettigrew marches along the railroad cut to Seminary followed by the remnants of Archer's Brigade while Brockenbrough captures Oak Ridge a second time. Davis is heading to capture Oak Hill to the north. I order Calef to change to canister and hold his position. Artillery is too slow to move and any attempt to fall back is pointless. At the same time, I order Iron Brigade and my left flank'a skirmishers to attack the advancing Pettigrew on his right. My 2nd Division is already west of Gettysburg and a few yards from Seminary. Calef's canister and Iron Brigade's volley barrages made Pettigrew and Archer fall back. Baxter is running towards Brockenbrough who has cut off Cutler between Oak Hill and the Ridge. Soon, the Rebel brigade will be encircled. A few more volleys and they also fall back west of McPherson. While I am trying to form my line in the same place between the ridges, the rebels attack again! My brigades are surprised by the charge of the Confederates and they withdraw. Thankfully, my 3rd Division has already arrived along with the Corps Artillery Brigade (5 batteries). With the help of Bucktail and Biddle's Brigades, I repel the attackers west of McPherson once more. I order Colonel Wainwright to deploy Captain Reynolds' and Captain Stevens' batteries on Oak Ridge and the rest around Seminary. Union I Corps repels Confederates from McPherson Ridge. Now I have control of McPherson Ridge with my strong artillery. Should I go for Herr Ridge? The Rebels are very tired and outnumbered, but most of my men are very tired as well. Herr Ridge has a strong artillery presence and even if the attack is successful, it will be paid for in a lot of blood. This battle will be a marathon, not a sprint. Until now, we have faced only one Division: half of Hill's Corps. Soon the rest of the Army of Northern Virginia will be here. It is better to hold positions here and prepare my defense for the next battle. The men fought bravely and need all the rest and resupply. There are already 1 327 Union and 2 777 Confederates dead on the field – brave Americans one and all. Gettysburg, July 1st, 1863, approx. 02:00 pm There's no time for rest, however. Pender arrives on Herr Ridge and will soon join Heth's Division to attack from the west. To the north, Rode's Division of Ewell's Second Corps marches on Oak Hill, with intent to head to Oak Ridge. Early's Division shouldn't be far off and soon, the Rebels will have two Divisions attacking from the North. I was relieved when the courier came with good news: Maj. General Oliver Howard is approaching from the south with his XI Corps right on time. Early's division appears as expected, marching from north-east. I'll deploy I Corps of Maj. General John Reynolds in a line at Herbst Farm, McPherson Farm and Mummasburg Road between Oak Ridge and Oak Hill. From that point, I'll create another line that ends at Harrisburg Road in the east where I'll deploy the XI Corps of Maj. General Oliver Howard. They'll be tasked with holding the northern front line and protecting the right flank. Five batteries will be sent to strengthen the whole front, having been loaded with canister and keeping the rest behind loaded with shell. Union I and XI Corps deployment. Planning is one thing but implementation is another. The rebels didn't wait for my deployment to be completed before attacking. The Determined AI character meant to attack as soon as his reinforcements arrive, without waiting to assemble his whole army. Rodes sends Iverson, O'Neil and Doles Brigades to attack from Oak Hill to Oak Ridge, where my two Corps will meet each other. I have Baxter and Cutler Brigades there already and Paul in reserve behind them. I also send Gamble's skirmishers to support as well, until XI Corps can fully deploy its forces. The 3 attacking brigades of Rodes Division charge at Baxter and Cutler after a couple volleys. They won't hold for long, so I order Paul to charge at the attackers. I don’t feel safe about committing my reserves early, but XI Corps is still deploying to my right and I need more time. Early's Dividion advances to Barlow's Knoll. Paul's charge took place as Baxter and Cutler started retreating. Supported by artillery barrages from Oak Ridge, Paul manages to repel the attackers. At the same time, Barlow deployed Ames' and von Gilsa's Brigades south of Blocher Knoll to cover Early’s right flank. Schurz filled the gap between Oak Ridge and the right flank with Schimmelfennig and Krzyzanowski. I now have a single, continuous line, but it’s stretched thin and lacks reserves. I hope my strong artillery will balance that weakness out. The Determined AI approaches again. Early's Division attacks my right flank, Rodes launches all his Brigades against Oak Ridge, while Pender's Division and the remnants of Heth's Division march from the west. The AI is creating a lethal crescent around my line while his artillery provides support. My right flank begins collapsing under the ferocious rebel charges but my batteries manage to stop their advance for a moment. The Rebels seem determined to outflank my line. On Oak Ridge, my forces are in better shape thanks to their artillery support, however the AI targets the artillery and I’ll lose the ridge soon. I move those batteries to the eastern slope of the ridge to have a better cover, but the other batteries on my northern front are vulnerable. The AI begins to vary its attack. He holds the outflanking manoeuvre and attacks my line between Oak Ridge and my right flank. If he succeeds, he will be able to cut off my right flank and Oak Ridge at the same time! Schimmelfennig's and Krzyzanowski's brigades fight desperately to hold the Rebels. I am sending Ames and von Gilsa’s brigades back to delay the Rebel advance against my right flank. I need time to withdraw my vulnerable, wounded batteries. Pender's and Heth's Divisions in the western front started pushing my line on McPherson Ridge at the same time. The situation turns to a nightmare when I hear the bugle call for a charge all across my entire line. Early crashes into the Union right flank while Rodes attacks at Oak Ridge. Rodes captures Oak Ridge. If I manage to fortify the Seminary with all my batteries and turn it to a stronghold with my infantry around it, I’ll still stand a chance at holding this point. I march all of my infantry to the front to give my artillery an opportunity to withdraw to Seminary. The AI sees my weakness and launches a full-scale charge on my entire line. My troops cannot stand without artillery support and retreat. I try to hold at Seminary, but the AI keeps coming from three directions. Thankfully, the last two brigades of XI Corps arrive. I throw them against Early's Division east and north east of Seminary and order my batteries that have reached Seminary to fire canister shot at hostiles from the north and west. The tired Rebels start to fall back, having lost momentum. That is exactly what I needed - the remnants of my artillery they are now in position on Seminary and my infantry form a protective circle around them. The Union prepares a stand at the Seminary. The rebels are not defeated yet and begin another attack, this time almost surrounding me. My artillery’s shell and canister, coupled with infantry formations create a lethal ring around my stronghold. I am vastly outnumbered, but most of the Rebels are almost exhausted. Trying to break the balance, the AI shifts its batteries closer to my surviving troops for his final attack. The next AI assault is absolutely devastating - My survivors fight a valiant stand from the Seminary and are eventually defeated. The Union begins a full-scale retreat away from the Seminary. We have been defeated this first day of the battle, but we did succeed delaying the enemy's advance. The main force of the Army of the Potomac has started arriving at Cemetery Hill and fortify the high ground in that area. The battle of Gettysburg ain't over yet and today it was only the beginning...
  24. We keep all engines in full speed. Can't provide details about Steam Greenlight version but I can say that you won't have to wait too long in 2014 for game's release. Btw, I saw your specs in another thread. Where do you... park your machine?
