Perk reset

You want the old system back because the reset was free? You know that it was only free because of testing reasons. Before it was free you lost some ranks (can't remember how many, 3 maybe) when you reset the perks and then had to grind him back up to max rank.

The system is good as it is. People should have to think carefully when choosing perks, it shouldn't become something that you change every time you switch ships (as it was before).

Before you lost any xp that was earned since gaining a level. Once you reached level 10 there was no loss of xp.

I think the issue may be from switching from a warship to to a trade ship as they need different perks to operate efficiently. Spending 50 marks for this function when there are no marks generated by trading gets a bit expensive and cumbersome. Attempting to run a hybrid of perks just makes both problematic. You wind up with either a warship that does not have all the abilities to match up against another warship or a trade ship that has abilities it will never use. This has led to many players just opting to purchase a 2nd account and use it strictly for trading while their main account does either missions or escort duty. While purchasing a 2nd account is an acceptable workaround it still leads to people complaining about alts and how they are used since some players are unable to either afford a 2nd account or lack the system that can run multiple instances. Reducing the cost may be advisable since players that trade more then pvp do not earn that many marks and thus will continue to avoid pvp.

i agree on : the trader who is not into missions and trading for his nation 

does in practice do not acquire cm for doing 10 battles first and then takes a war officer

the 50 cm for the perk is a to big of a strain for the trader captain

also a captain must freely choose his officer

or is the next step 50 cm for changing his chip ??? because the Admiralty wants him on a trader or just a Cerberus

you can ask anything in a game but it does not work in rl that way he mostly took al his officers with him when transferring to the other ship 

perhaps a fee of gold must be paid ,but not cm

or totally free, or aquire cm for doing trade.....

 

also think about it a trader who must pay combat marks

Yes that's how it was after they made it free. I'm talking about the system before that. Resetting costed a few levels when officers was introduced first.
