  1. Im looking for 5th rate missions but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get missions for 5th rate ships or higher. The max available mission is a 6th rate First Leutenant. Even in other ports in the area.
  2. So after the Devs revealed they're thinking about taking 1st rates out of the game for some time, me and some others put a lot of thoughts into the whys and hows. I'm aware that most players love their hard achieved 1st rates and that some are very concerned about seeing them taken from them. The following is a suggestion how to make a change without killing half the playerbase. Problem with 1st rates is, that they are easy to achieve once you get your hands on them. Within a couple of days your friends get them, because you help them cap or just craft. Within a couple of some more days your whole clan get them and finally everyone gets a 1st rate. I don't think flooding 1st rates all over the world is how it should be. 1st rates should set the point after a long and hard career. They are the price for spending lots of time ingame. 1st rates need to be rare and harder to achieve. That's how it works: 1. 1st rates are no longer craftable (done) 2. 1st rates are no longer sold in shops, neither by NPC nor Players 3. 1st rates can not be capped. That's the basics. So now, how to achieve one? Every player gets a special dock slot. It's the only one they can put a 1st rate in. This slot is bought with the shortly announced admiralty points, by special admiralty missions or is just a rng drop by admiralty. Once you have the slot, you can achieve BPs for 1st rates the same way you achieved the slot. Now that you have a BP you can craft your 1st rate. If you don't like that one you can achieve more BPs till you find your favorite and break the old one up. You can't sell it or give it to anyone, it's yours and bound to your account. The only way to get 'rid' of it ist to either break it up or sink it in battle. That's where the critic part sits. You're 1st rate can't be captured, but lost in a boarding fight anyway or just sink in battle. Well, no problem just craft a new one? Nope. Someone sunk your 1st rate! You can't just 'craft a new one'! It's for the best Navy Men only. You are not, otherwise it would be still afloat. No one sane would presume you anymore to sail a 1st rate. That means: you loose your slot, your BPs and your honor. Start from the beginning. Achieve the slot, the BPs and after that you craft a new one. Now, 1st rates are rare. Just the way they should be. It's a honor to be allowed to sale them, and it's a shame to loose them.
  3. As stated above. I, and a lot of other people, would love to see more Dutch ships in the game. I was thinking about this beauty: (The one in the center) Zr.Ms. Prins Friso (Or Prins Frieso, written as in the 16th/17th century) I think she would be a great 3rd or 4th rate in the game, since we lack high rate line ships I think. I'm not sure what she was according to her actual history, since I tried to google it, but I could not find anything useful except that I know this picture for about 2 years now. Maybe the Zr.Ms. Prins Friso could be added to the queue of ships that are waiting to be created into the game? :3 Thanks for reading. Let 'em have it...! FIRE!!! ~ Sirion.
  4. Most Nations of the Era also used this system or one extremely close. I get a twitch every time I see cutters, labelled 7th rates, or Brigs labelled 6th rates. Rated ships were 6th rates and larger and were 20+ gun Sloops/Corvettes of war/small light frigates. Brigs etc were unrated, but for gaming purposes you could argue extending the rating system to 7 and above could work, but in my honest opinion 6th Rates should be correct to history and game-play allows 7th rates and higher. Perhaps something along these lines. (Note this also roughly matches the rank advancement in steps for like for like ship progression) 1st Rate 2nd Rate 3rd rate 4th Rate 5th Rate 6th Rate <400 tonne un-rated vessel 7th Rate <250 tonne un-rated vessel 8th Rate <150 tonne un-rated vessel 9th Rate Royal Navy rating system in force during the Napoleonic Wars[edit] The chart corrupted in my post so include the link below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rating_system_of_the_Royal_Navy
  5. Just spotted an error in the classification of ships in game and wondered if there might be a few more. (Navy Brig should be un-rated not a 6th rate) See wiki for specific confirmation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rating_system_of_the_Royal_Navy Basically a ship carrying 20 to 28 guns was a 6th rate. (Navy Brig 18 guns should be un-rated not a 6th rate) A ship of 30 to 44 guns sometimes 2 decker was considered a 5th rate. A ship carrying less than 20 guns was un-rated I saw Navy Brig in the 6th rate shopping list. A Captain (Not Master 8 Commander) would never ordinarily be given command of an un-rated.
