Global - Saving the game idea for nations to discuss and Devs to implement

OK so the game is still broken and population is dropping and people trying to make content are getting frustrated so let us have a discussion about a preservation idea.

We all know it lets try to make some quick band-aid fixes to save the game.

 

Core Idea:

Give each nation 10 ports to use for Econn near their home ports (Beleize , Mortimer Christiansted Willm  etc.) with all the materials required to build ships.  Rebalance production so each of these 10 ports has a use. Coal,iron,oak,hemp,lignum,fir, and the other stuff so each port needs to be sailed to create a ship.     This way all crafting can continue as normal.Give everyone some gold compensation for their buildings and move all their ships to the new home automatically so they can rebuild and distribute quickly and fairly.)

Make Islamorada -  Cayo romano -Ayes -La Navasse - Mortimer the Tow To ports for each nation or something similalrly distanced to the bahamas.  This is possible as it was tow to capital and you just change the capitals for now.

Allow empty ships to be teleported up there. Again known function

Turn off all Port Taking. Known Function.

Cap groups at 5 and all instances 5 v 5 no basic cutter access.

Turn slingshotting back on so your captures can go to the capital for sale.

Reasons -

Population drop is becoming critical.  No one can fill battles and people are feeling hunted because of timezone imbalances and population imbalances. 

No one can get combat fast enough and open world sailing is an option but not required through TP to capital.  TP allowed between your home freeport and your home capital in econn area.

OW combat is possible but only really in the centre of the map or small raiding groups into nation a areas.  

People can build ships and move them easily rather than losing all their play time doing garbage activities.  Trading for Ship Building is limited by Building manufacturer.  Combat is accessible but not forced.

At least this way you can have some happy players in the center fighting and the less combat minded feeding them ships at the capitals.

Allows RvR redesign without losing more players due to population imbalances and design issues.  There is no scaling so really the ports are being uncontested again. 

Alternative methods for creating PBs can be created and tested using one of the many freeports.

 

Discuss,  lets find something that is doable and get the devs to do it rather than the game dying......and it will die if things are not fixed in some way to create easy action. All the population in global is facing issues.

France are Nightflipped and one ported
GB cant field PB teams
US cant field PB teams
Danes are mostly timeslotted(yes we know why etc thats not the issue)
Spain is 1 ported
Pirates have no opposition

The player base is not self correcting so there needs to be develoment forced changes and this seems like a viable option to me.

If you don't do something together re a plan then the decay continues and probably increases as no one wants to play with no population.

 

Please discuss the shortterm solution not the causes unless you think something is missing

You do know that we don't actually overlap by more than an hour unless you count the hours after midnight on weekends yeah?     I can't actually write anything that can't be taken as productive comment other than that i guess.  I did try.

Fasti's proposal makes a great deal of sense as a relatively simple skeleton for the game.   I think of  a large stadium athletic contest.   Around the perimeter lie the surrounding commercial venues and concessions, making, buying and selling.  Relatively safe, but exercise care on the highway or train coming in and out, and keep your kids and wallets close.   In the clearly marked center, the uniformed, armored athletes battering each other for glory and valuable prizes, from time to time sending a battered team back to the sidelines for a patch up or a "happy dance."

Spain was 1 ported because it had no one at the wipe and had the most territory.  So everyone snagged a piece of that pie.

Danes have always known to be mostly Chinese players and are thus SEA timezone.  

GB quit caring about PB teams because of several factors... I mean really several factors.

US fell apart when several major clans left, and the others couldnt get organized enough to be effective on that front.

France never cared about ports.

Pirates are the most "National" nation in game.   Their mechanics let them be that way.  (Broke faction is broke)

The game does not force night flips or one porting. Both are player choices.

What the devs did do was make it so one porting a nation has minimal effects on it. Which it did. Global France may not have a lot of ports but we can still build any ships we want and were on the kill leader boards everyday. 

The problem is players sitting on discord or similar services and only logging into the game to do Port Battles.  We all reached top end ships so the Econ slowed down. With less players leveling ships, doing Econ and advancing RvR less players are on the sea available for PvP. RvR players logging in only to RvR are essentially just using the position and gear to hold the rest of the nations down. So less RvR and PvP.  This is all primarily due to players maxing out end game and then choosing to play in ways that minimize PvP and risk. The Devs will never be able to fix that and we're not going to force anyone to fight in a game that doesn't really want to.  I can't help but laugh everytime I read a proposed solution that is....."Do this and they will have to do that."  No they don't. It's just a game. It's about being fun and not about being forced into anything.  Make the game fun and they will play forever.  If they are leaving now it's because the fun from last months wore off.  RvR is just a tiny piece of the game.  It probably has very little to do with why people really quit.
