Cpt Mascoutain
Simple navigation tools could be made to mark the map. Or a different navigation chart on which we can write on. Simple tools; Pencil Ruler (to scale if possible) Protractor Eraser One could plot the actual course of a vessel on high seas (cross-referencing the map coordinates) on a seperate chart (or simply write on the world map). Sail-on!
Macjimm
Actually with just a little ingenuity and imagination there are countless way to enjoy navigating in NA. Shrouded Recluse has made an excellent map. Download it and use sections of it as your charts. The grid allows for easy distance measure. Paint.NET is a free and simple tool to use for drawing on your chart. You only have to build a very simple compass and ruler. Photoshop is a powerful editor and has the tools to measure distance and angles directly. I like SnagIt and have created a ruler and compass as a stamp. There are other maps available from players at UO. OpenSea has a built in navigation tool available albeit real world. It can still be really helpful for navigating and sailing. I’ve found that real world distances do not match NA distances but it is proportional so it just means that the time it takes to travel is much less that you will calculate. http://i.imgur.com/RXBBROK.jpg But if you are in a hurry. Just wing it. Navigation is so easy in NA. There are no winds or currents to alter ones course. Just point your little speedboat in the right direction, set fullsail and wait until you see or bump into land. You can bounce your way across the whole map this way in a frenzied pace with no damage from weather, reefs or rocky shores. Happy navigating. What is truly needed to aid navigating (that is not available) is a compass in game to measure angles from your ship to objects.

Jacob Elston
Navigation is easy, though I think some cool course plotting visuals on the map would be nice, but we do not want a GPS. Also, an immersive map that resembles an old sea chart would be nice
