Their pre-alpha does not look as pretty as NA's pre-alpha.
The ocean does look the same or very similar though doesn't it.. I wonder..

After playing a few games, I find the aiming mechanic is a bit too fluid for what we are shooting. First, I find myself constantly moving my mouse small increments in order to get the "just right" distance and lead. However, I often twitch or accidentally move the mouse just a little too far, or need to quickly take a look around so as to make sure I'm not blocking a friendly's shot, thus ruining the aim I had before.
The first issue I believe could be changed by moving the aiming controls (when zoomed in on one broadside) to the arrow keys instead of the mouse. My aim will stay where it is regardless of where I look with my mouse, and will only change when I use the arrow keys. Thus, steering stays the same with the WSDA keys, and I can have an easier time aiming with the arrow keys. Another option would be, when in aiming mode (clicking the right mouse button) you use the mouse wheel to aim up and down. the only way to get out of aiming mode would be to press the same button you used to get into it (again, the right mouse button)
In addition, aiming should be made a bit more rigid: so instead of just being able to aim anywhere in your range, you aim your guns one "click" or one "notch" up, down, left, or right
The second is simple and has been discussed: A simple aiming reticle that details distance needed as well markers to show how much to lead a shot. A simple "Sniper's" Crosshair would be sufficient, although modifications could be made to fit in with the time period.
Cheers,
Captain Drummond.
Play more games and get used to it. Playing a few games and disliking the system isn't a fair test. Is it hard to master? Yes. It should be.

In theory it's a cool idea, I just have thoughts of it becoming not so much exploited but overused as a way to immobilize and block first / second rates.
I think there's one account where a ship went nose first into another and got tangled resulting in the one ship being only able to fire it's nose guns while the other raked her nose. While it sounds awesome if it happens too often it becomes a tactic that will see too much use as the one ship is surely doomed.

Got my code and installed the beta client. updated my graphic drivers for my nividia GTX 750 and my system exceeds the requirements. I started up the game and the screen load showing the various blue radio buttons for selecting ships and battle type, etc., but I have no graphics of the ship itself and everything else seems to be missing. I had the client generate a bug report and couldn't seem to find anything here in the forums regarding this issue.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I really was hoping to get into this game tomorrow so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Have you started a game (joined a lobby, waited for it to start) or are you talking about not seeing ships in the menu?
The menu is barebones.

I'm not a fan of "reality" resets. Make everything fluid enough that it can ebb and flow naturally. Having to make the system reset is a crutch and a cover for inadequate gameplay mechanics IMO.
Resets may not be ideal but what happens when one Nation loses? If things ebb and flow naturally there will be a winner and loser. If Britain conquers all of Sweden's ports what happens to Sweden? Sweden players? etc etc.

It was a game in what Hmk was one of the most awesome, feared and respected guilds on all servers.
Hmm, maybe at least on Roberts.
Or maybe just on the French side...
Perhaps it was only a nice dream?
Anyways, it was fun until it got ruined. :-(
HMK eh, hmm, never heard of them,
(actually I'm just blocking out bad memories of RL on tiggy.)

what is potbs?

Thats the general idea from what we have heard. Instead of front lines ports and areas can be contested. How it take shape we have yet to see. The dev's have said they want to have a 'final battle' for ports.

Have you tried launching it in window mode?
Have you tried validating files on steam?
Worst case scenario you could try a fresh install.
Just a few suggestions, also use the search function and see other threads about troubleshooting.

It would be nice to have, historical or not.
People have mentioned it before but haven't heard much recently.

I would like to see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heated_shot ,
So when you hit some poor fellow's powder stock the whole ship gets blown apart and maybe dammage other ships that are close in range with debrit (sails riped).
Just an idea, i am sure it would have been mentioned somwhere else.
Heated shot was rarely used on ships, forts etc, more so.
About destruction, it would be nice to see but not a priority or necessary.

Have you played the Testing? If not, a lot of that stuff is in the game, ie focusing on gunnery, sailing or survival.
Aswell as setting your guns up (what weights per deck, ie 18's or 24's)

since USS Chippewa and USS New Orleans were originally meant to fight in the War of 1812, and were only cancelled because Britain surrendered as they were nearing completion!
You should read up on your history, Britain didn't surrender.

I got buggered when my VoiceAttack put me into a hard starboard turn as I asked it to but the F key component of the command didn't register for about 10 or 12 seconds - after I had rammed Leviathan - I saw the ram coming so I was frantically trying to stop - I couldn't see if my sails came down but I didn't seem to slow at all.
This was during a busy part of the Trafalgar - at the time I chalked it up to "internet" things - but thought I'd mention it
Thats likely a voiceattack issue.. nothing the dev's can do if that program has a hiccup.

2 Trafalgar battles, twice for 10+ minutes I cant fire Broadsides.... pinging at 50, FPS at 46. Click mouse and space bar nothing, then after about 5-10 minutes all my guns fire!
F11 reports sent!
For the Devs:
A way to reproduce this bug is to fire a ranging shot and immediately after fire a full broadside (left click). Doesn't happen everytime but its fairly predictable. It also tends to happen more if the full broadside (left click) has just become reloaded after firing the ranging shot.

Keys are usually released once a week or 2x if your lucky.
Think POTBS slowed down with no magic skills and manual aiming and sail control.

Tavern for now friend.
I hope it is added after regional forums (EU, NA etc) though.

Just make a thread in the Tavern and start the trend. Much like a "Faces of _____" in every game forum.
Hope this will be O.K

That doesn't make water look the same. The assets are going to be different. Makes me wonder if the asset store was used.
For example all of those below are from different projects in "Unity," but the engine doesn't make the assets, it renders them, if that makes sense.
Note the lovely default skybox xD
