  1. Hmm, its really not a good card, while it should run it probably* won't be able to max it out and run good.

If your looking for bang for your buck and not the top end cutting edge card I would suggest AMD.

    * = don't take my word for it, don't know anyone with one playing NA.

  2. I somehow doubt we will see that level of detail just due to performance issues and the modeling / animation needed but who knows.

That said I do expect better crew representation than 6 guys doing a repetitive animation.

I would like, in an ideal world, a few marines on bigger ships, a few more gun loaders on visible decks and a few 'sailors' manning rigging, maybe 50 models per 1st / 2nd / 3rd rate and then 40/30/20 etc for smaller ships. Maybe an officer or 2 near the helm?

  3. How would one replace a graphics card on a laptop, if I may bother you further? And ill check out the R920 :D

Once again, thanks for the help! :)

Sadly it is nigh impossible on a labtop. You are basically stuck with what you got out of the box.

I thought you had a desktop!

  4. It will most definitely not hold up well. Its a integrated graphics chip, and they suffer horsepower problems. Basically inferior to all but the worst standalone graphics cards.

No idea how it will run Naval Action but in most modern games (when it came out - ie Battlefield 3/4, DayZ Standalone) it will get ~30 fps on the lowest settings possible.. and more often than not even less than 30.

It is roughly equal to a Radeon HD 5550, a card that is now considered ancient.

Will it run - yes. Will it be smooth FPS and pretty? No.

  5. Thank you everyone!!!  I posted the same question on  Steam and some one pointed out I needed to be on the Steam client!  I went to my desktop, and there it was!  XD

The issue is solved.  Now I guess I better learn how to swim ;)

Haha sorry I guess! I presumed you had Steam open :P

  6. For example, I foresee us being simultaneously allied with a British clan, at war with another one, allied with a French, or a Dutch, per our strategic interests and at war with any and all pirates. If it will be setup for that to be possible.

I doubt and hope that you can not be allied with one clan of a nation and at war with another clan of the same nation. Having AI nations that players serve under and have reputation with would serve no purpose if this was possible as each clan may as well be its own nation if the nation cannot force or control loyalty and commit fully to war all resources and forces as it would have been able to in historical times; barring civil unrest which would most often result in peace treaties or revolution.

Spoken agreements of non-aggression between clan leaders can always occur but who wants peace in a game about age of sail war.

  7. Clippers should be a no go imo.

While on the topic of ship dates and what is in the game right now. It irks me that people call for ships to have historical characteristics and balancing when the game compresses 100+ years into a single instance at any given time. Basically, they want realistic characteristics and armaments etc but also want to sail a ship from 1701 vs a ship from 1815, have a guess at which one will win. That's jumping 100+ years without taking into account any of the advances (albeit slow) in naval technology. People really need to see the scope of every comment and how it affects the web of the game as it is a MMO and everything is connected.

  8. Indeed Ulysses :)

I have some friends that speak just French (I speak no French, but we shared comradery in another naval game fighting for France). So far one has joined. We may yet make an all French speaking squadron... It is really up to them! What I hope is to appoint a Squadron Vice-Admiral to attend to thier affairs.

    Amphore doesn't count.

*whisper* he's liable to get alpha spiked early ;)

  9. Flip - we may need a duel. Maybe even 2 or 3 to 1 odds. The one in a larger ship, between 2-4 classes higher than the attackers. Attackers use chain, defender use heavy...

Maybe we find out sails are not so easy? Or perhaps we see the future of OS game play...

Going for sails is definetly not very easy especially with the current repair mechanics where masts can spring back up and sails repair quickly. Your actually better off shooting heavy into sails right now and hoping for a mast down. If we simulate the eventual mechanic of masts not popping back up aka the defender does not use sail repairs I would like to test it. My only qualm right now is there is a large gap between ships so that the larger class can one shot the smaller. That said some snows vs a trinc or trincs vs a bellona in a gank situation where the bellona is adamant to survive and not suicide in could be a good test. That's if we can catch a bellona in a reasonable amount of time as the devs have mentioned wanting to have a escape mechanic similar to potbs where if no damage is done they can leave the instance.
  10. In discussion with another ex-player the other day, we did have this question:

Without cut shroud, how will attackers ever engage and catch people in the open world?

Now, we have not seen merchants yet, so do not know their speeds. But *many* of the Ship's this far essentially go the same speed - or have directional headings faster than others.

It is a curious thing, and i'm interested to see how the open world combat mechanics will work.

Such a true point. Chases will also be 100x longer and some boats, ie the Trincolamee known for its speed, will be almost impossible to catch.. unless you have a Trincolamee.. but then.. they..go the same speed?

I have a feeling there will be a lot of ganking and running and fewer fair fights when people realize speed wins and boats are (apparently) not that easy to get. You get a winnable fight in fast boats - you fight. You get a impossible fight you just run and re-engage. Oh the QQ will be good.

  11. Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to Login to NA without using my Steam ID? Since I

do videos for YouTube, I really don't want my Steam name plastered over YouTube, so

how do you use the default login, and create a username/password for the default login?

I dd try my forum login but it doesn't work.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thx Neon

    Just cut the video :P
