  1. Nice addition!!! Helps a great deal when either landing troops or for those in tight to shore battles. I never thought of that addition, but very helpful....thanks! Oh, and by the way, I just noticed it so if it's been there for awhile then just let me live my fantasy ;)
  2. Boarding is a learned skill...the more you do, the better you become. I have run into battles where the other ship pulls away from the grappling hooks, however the ship I tried to board was both bigger and faster so I had to wear it down a bit first. I accept the enemy breaking away because I know I have done the same thing when a better ship tries to board me. I go to full sail and make a sharp turn away and I can break away successfully more often than not. Another trick used by both me and the AI is do a quick stop and the ship who is trying to board goes charging past breaking the grappling hooks. I never sent in a bug report for this because I figured the AI wasn't doing anything different than what I can/will do to evade a boarding.
  3. I have run through 8 campaigns (4 British and 4 American), I'm beginning to have enough cash to make a difference along with a nice amount of reputation. I have the foundation of a nice little fleet and some experienced troops when the "In Development" screen comes on. NOOOOOoooooo!!! When, oh when, is the next phase coming out????
  4. Fair enough. It would be great to see the possible DLC's or a SteamWorkshop.
  5. Is there any way to decrease the wind noise volume and kick up the cannon and musketry volumes? I love to hear the actual battle sounds and turn up the volume on my speakers, however with this comes an increase in wind noise. Thanks
  6. Gsam, I'm very sorry to hear that you want your money back already. While I agree there are bugs/flaws in the game I must also remind you that this is a very early beta release and I, personally, have found that each and every time I do an update patch that the game runs smoother and that issues are addressed as soon as the dev team can. Please don't get me wrong and think I am a minion and only see the sparkles of a game as I agree with a few of the items you mentioned, however this is what we need to expect with a beta release. This is also what the forum is for...keep posting your thoughts here so the dev team can see what the players want/need/like. I see the potential for this game as it is what I have been waiting for since UGCW and I plan on playing, posting and doing whatever I can to ensure this is a success AND getting in this early a person CAN be heard by the dev team and so has the potential to make and/or ask for changes that cannot be done so easily after release. Please don't quit on the game yet.
  7. I'm on my second play through with it off and I do like the options it allows, however Texas is right about the scaling as I'm just bypassing the rep and experience and moving on after I get my butt handed to me (LOL). I do go back and try something new every once in awhile, especially after a patch or when I need to be humbled.
  8. My name appeared on my admiral edition a few weeks ago (which was COOL AS HELL!!!) as I played the british side. I then played the american side and never saw it the entire game. This started me thinking that there has to be a fair amount of people who have the admiral edition and that makes for a lot of names and since not all names are available at the start of a campaign, how often might one see/use their character? 1 in 2 or 3 games or 1 in 100 games? Just curious, as it was still cool as hell
  9. There are a few battles in which there is a LOT of things going and sometimes I have to put some of my ships in AI control for a bit while my attention is elsewhere. Great idea! However, I would expect the AI to NOT run aground or run off the field of play and get timed out for retreating. It's okay if the AI doesn't board and capture ships (I have seen them do that though once or twice so...)or do anything more than shoot at the enemy...I'm good. But they should never ground themselves, retreat or capsize under the AI's watch/control.
  10. Never mind latest patch fixed it.
  11. Tried to start a new american campaign but the opening battle never ends. I saved both earlston and vengeance...no end. So I did a restart and this time eliminated the british fleet and also saved both american ships...no end. I met the victory conditions and let it run for another 6 hours and...no end. I submitted an F11 bug report last night. I tried to start another british campaign to check and that runs just fine, it's only the american side. I also ran a repair and deleted all my old saves...nothing. I will keep trying and looking at what might be different this time around as I have run through both campaigns twice already.
  12. When you take a ship as a trophy take ownership, then un-mount the cannons from the trophy ship (save upgrade)...the cannons are now in the armory and you can then sell the ship for money and you still keep the un-mounted cannons. Where the is a will there is a way to get cannons! LOL!
  13. I now have 4 points in the admiralty assortment bin and no basic cannons...my next thought is to start putting points in the tech novelties bin. I will keep all posted.
  14. I usually do too, however I wanted to get a larger ship to fight the Lenox and so I bought one. Also I figure since this is early access (which I look at as Beta 2 testing) I try to explore all avenues and give things a try that I would normally never do to help out. The Ultimate series are by far my favorite games and I will try my best to help them succeed.
  15. At this point I have 3 experience points put into the admiralty assortment bin so I'm not sure if I need more or if I'm missing some tech I haven't researched yet. I'm still plugging along and maybe it'll come to me as I progress. I do not have the basic cannon tech and I have no clue as to how to get there as it seems the techs offered are quite random and I don't know where a tech tree may be so I can make a better choice to move forward.
  16. Thanks. For the battle of Bunker Hill I actually only played the land battle and I believe I picked up some 6lbers there, and that was enough to put a few on a newly purchased ship, however it still left me waaaaay short. I'm beginning to think that I need to put more points in the admiralty assortment bin.
  17. Thank you, Pandakraut!! On a personal note - it's nice to see you here as I have run across you in other games and I have found you to be a knowledgable and trusted source. It makes me feel better that you are on this game too.
  18. Anthropoid is doing the EXACT same method I use and I am about where he says he is and I fully agree with everything he says, HOWEVER where/how do I acquire the tech to get more cannons available for the American side? I think that if we could see the a tech tree showing future techs and how to get there would be a great help to understanding the sequence needed.
  19. I have over 1500 hours played with Ultimate General CW and fortunately a lot of the game mechanics are similar and so I was able to get into UAAoS pretty quick, however there are features and buttons that I have no idea what they mean or do. Some I have figured out just by playing, but I find myself groping in the dark about how to acquire items I need and this makes it very difficult to decipher if I have encountered a true bug or if I just didn't do something correctly. I checked out the preliminary guide/FAQ but it didn't cover everything...just something to say what all the information panels mean would be a great help so I can recognize a true bug to report. It may cut back on some of the dev's time with false bug reports.
  20. What a great idea to have separate weapons tech trees available!
  21. Playing the American campaign (first time through) and purchased a ship, however it came with no cannons and I have no clue on how I can get more cannons. I think I may need to increase the admiralty available through experience points, but there is nothing there to say it's the correct way (I'm just guessing at this) and without a guide I am just hoping to get lucky somehow. Is this a bug? Or am I not doing something correctly?
  22. Just downloaded latest patch - don't know why but it works!! I'm in both campaigns and working like a charm!!!!!
  23. Yes, both campaigns...I sent a bug report of both campaigns. I get music, sound effects and voice until the specific load screen (same spot for both british and american) and then the voice stops but the music and sound effects continue.
  24. PS. I can send you the output.log file if you would like. I scanned through it but I really am over my head at that point LOL
  25. No. I also tried different graphic resolution settings with no effect. I sent you two F11 bug reports titled game freeze attn Ink. I can hear the sound effects and music and I also figured that the campaign load may take awhile longer so Ii let it sit loading for about 10 minutes but the screen never changed. I also tried running as administrator, loading in a different drive (i.e. "C" drive and then "D" drive). When I reinstalled this last time it asked again for me to install the C++ program and I selected yes and this time it said it was installed and I had no error message, I got a successful install reply. Again ,the tutorials and the battles run great...no issues and the graphics are smooth and clear with no FPS loss or any jumpiness. I am at a loss right now but am open to try whatever you think. Thanks.
