i still dont understand why that man who doesnt have the time for a single battle (worst case 1,5h battle plus sailing towarts it and back = more then two hours) has to handycap himself by turning this into a singleplayer game? why not combine  his manhours with 9 other 2h-a-day-mans and suddently have the eco power of a 20h-a-day-man. with that he and the other 9 can get any ship without a problems. specially since he wont have the time to loose all those ships a 20h per day gameplay can provide them every day?

forcing players to play a particular way has a strange habbit of forcing them out of the game. do you think everybody wants to team up with others ? are solo players not wanted in NA ?

That would change the DLC and give every buyer a refund option. Considering how much bad blood there is between the banned band of degenerates and devs I'd advice against a course of action that could entail a refund option.

a seperate dlc just for permits, how is that changing an existing dlc ?

you would still need the rest of the materials, the bonus would be, you get the permit you want, just like the paint dlc gives you the colour you want

the exisitng ship dlc's would not be affected as they give you the complete ship

    or am I missing something

  3. Permit DLC 1 per day like the paint. Not a note. Mr 2 hours a day man could log on every day, grab himself a permit and have a few ships ready for the weekend when he has more time ( i'm looking at you sunday population) He crafts a santi , low quality materials using his permit , doesn't get a gold or purple and decides to sell it or use it.

most people understand we need the dlc's to work and to support the game, without them it would need a subscription

  4. Still not seeing many 1st / 2nd rates player crafted on sale at the busy freeports. This could be down to a number of factors , players not wanting to bother right now (wipes )  , scarcity of materials  .. the list goes on.  We are not seeing enough crafting being done and there is no trickle down effect of 3/5 normals hitting the market either

I'm not a fan of gating permits, fine with making things expensive but RNG can do one ... I could offer 5 mill for a permit I want and there may not even be one on the server ...

Combat medals are for sale , reals are plentiful and doubloons price is rising.  Ships are hard to get , at least the ones the players want to sail, so must be materials. At least you're a decent PVP'er Greg , you will have less trouble than most getting the CM's

Why bother with a paint or flag DLC if you can't put either on the ship you want to sail ....  At least if I knew a Buc permit was available , it would give me a target. Just because I can't get a BUC permit I want, I won't be shopping for DLC's either

  5. Players play the game for a great many reasons, I hope we don't go down the road of fights only .....

Some play for trading and fighting and RVR

    some just want instant fights

some just want to sail about fighting if they feel like it

some just want RVR big port battles , political infighting , nation / clan building or wrecking, spying

some enjoy just the econ and the chance to build their own ships

we must try and cater for as many of these types and the ones I have forgotten. If you focus on the fight only mob, I fear it will alienate many

DLC are fine by me, not forced onto anybody. They are mostly bought by players to bypass the grind or to save time but no way would I offer financial support ( purchasing dlc ships and stuff )  if the game turns into an arena style game with the OW as a lobby.

I'd pay for a forged papers but I firmly believe it takes too much of my time to shift all of my goods and ships about to a neutral port, hours away. Flags yes and paints if the prices were cheaper. The first thing anybody thinks before spending any money... is imho " what is in it for me ? "

I do however look forward to release and any changes that happen in the mean time will be tested by me. Break down the permit wall and we're good for now

Trading is now attractive again, since long routes provide more profit and with NPC goods it seems to work really fine, so thumbs up.

But speaking general of getting resources or especially moving resources from one port to another - there is an urgent need to improve this.

Let's say I make an outpost in a free town (like La Tortue) and want to be able to craft ships there. Because I want to participate in PVP Event more than once per evening. Then I have to move my materials there. For those tasks it would be nice to be able to setup a NPC trader to deliver these materials automatcally. Let me choose the exact starting time of the journey, the delivery process runs automatically.

Of course these deliveries could be interrupted by enemy ships which makes some ports very valuable for waiting there for other players traders ships to arrive. Technically sinking those delivery traders could count as PVP since they are sent from players. Maybe this could be hard to implement because then AI must know routes from every port to every destination port. But this could improve crafting and improve ship travel.

Without adding anything to the idea. I'd just point out, that AFAIK crafting in a capturable port has benefits with regard to crafting. It would also be more sensible to craft somewhere far away from the busiest PVP area on the map and teleport a ship there everytime you wish. With that in mind, I have always liked the idea of being able to purchase a Tow to port from the admiralty for just that purpose

As for moving stuff around via traders, yep it's been something mentioned before. A taxi service for our goods , if they were sinkable is something I think most would be able to get behind.

Be nice if we had a full player driven uber taxi service for our goods, or  free ports offering missions created by us for the purpose of ordering goods to be delivered etc

person a creates a job offer, pays for the mission .. delivery of Teak to La Mona , with a price. person b sees the mission, accepts and delivers the teak and gets paid. Of course this wouldn't be easy to code / program or the simplest of ideas like this would be ingame already.

  7. The quicker the game is released the quicker we can make up our minds whether it is worth playing or not . I'll test any version that arrives but...

What I will not do is pay any further money while the version of the end product is up in the air.

Right now we have various types of players , the RVR crowd , the traders who fight a bit and those who only seem to be heading for the gank zones.

These are who make up the majority of the population. The addition of dlc and patrol zone mechanics aren't fuelling an increase in the games population. You could argue it's having the opposite effect but that's for another day.

If these last few DLC's help get the game released than I think many will put up with them. There are many waiting for release, they won't play right for very obvious reasons  to do with wipes and whether the end product is worth investing more time in.

If the game as it is now is fun, more would be playing. Word would get out.. "hey come back PVP is everywhere in the patrol zones, for a small one time fee you get a decent ship every day, you can make  it look better with flags and paints"

Sadly it seems as if the fun factor isn't there with this version of the game. I am hopeful a few more changes between now and release will help and stop looking at the number of PVP battles as the only metric for a viable game

Shift the patrol zones to Bermuda, out of the way where people can teleport to for their instant ganks

Cease the restrictions for fun war based RVR , let traders and crafters get involved too

the sooner we get a release date the better

If they are allowed in PBs they are P2W.  I’m fine with cosmetic DLCs.  Most games have them.  I even fine with DLC ships.  But when those ships are better than their contemporaries, just like the herc and requin were, then they are P2W by definition.

Im even ok with a little P2W DLC content.  The devs do need to keep funding I suppose.... but we’re approaching what?  Almost 10 DLCs now for a game that wasn’t free to play and still has not been released.    Even the special early access ship promised to all of us for being loyal tester will probably end up as a DLC.  This seems excessive to me and it feels like all they are working on is DLC content to pump their loyal base dry.  Enough is enough

wasn't that the restriction though ? Or was that what we were told before ? I have no idea as to whether DLC's are usuable in PB's so I am just asking

If they are . and then they are the best of their class, i can see your point. If not, then I wouldn't worry too much, for me it's a moot point as I won't purchase any DLc pre release for the simple reason i want to see what we are getting first

@admin we get a 4th rate DLC ship. I don't like it but ok, whatever. Depends on what cooldown it has TBH.

A problem I see tho, if data is correct. (maybe its not since it is labeled as 3rd rate in gamefiles) These data have a lot of reds on the agamemnon side. why does the DLC ship has to be the best of its class again?

My guess is to give it a thorough testing before nerfing the ~~~~ out of it but i've been wrong before

  10. Leave the main nations as they are

the rest Pirate clans who can fight amongst each other or against whomever they wish

they can stop spies entering their clan , can police their own language policies inside their own clan , port battle against any enemy port they wish , get attacked by anybody not in their clan , stop putting up with the drama inflicted on them by anybody else

make sure they cannot outlaw their way into port battles and I think most would be ok with it

leave the players to decide their allegiance, not some emperor or king with a 30 day cooldown on the next election promising teak and live oak for all who vote for him / her

    O7 Sailers,

    just a small question.

I sank around 20 ships (3th and 4th) in the gulf in the last two days and i did not get a single ship with doubloons?

Is there a bug with the loot tables? Usually you would get doubloons at every 2nd or 3rd ship you loot but 20 without anything is kinda strange.

I seem to recall the best chance to get dubs was from boarding ai traders and sinking players, but not sure. I do remember a post stating there was a higher % return on capping from admin but it could be old news / data by now

seems low though so maybe a bug

And some more, but I haven't been in all of the battles.

enjoyed the streams i saw yesterday. I must also comment on a couple of things I noticed... No wonder Warriorz has to trade so much as he seems to get sunk a lot. Lionshaft should consider changing his name to Usain Bolt :P

So you can craft them from provisions and tools. They cost 500 labor hours. So as a solo you likely wouldn't use them unless buying from the admiralty store for 2500 doubloons. Otherwise you are spending provisions and tools to bank 500 labor hours.

In a clan setting they could get more creative. If all the resources needed we're already collected for example. Then contracts could speed things up.

The fact though is crafting labor contacts only transfers 500 hours, it doesn't create them.

yes I had thought it looked like a way of saving your own hours for selling or using at a later time

    thanks great post

I think the fight between Alt abuse and players getting shafted due to mechanics to fight alts is hard to decide. I don't want to go back to little RvR because "we just can have the alt get it." there are a heck of a lot of groups who have alts in other clans in other nations for the exact purpose of not having to fight the entities instead. It's a shame.

I think further thoughts on the matter is we could split the clan delivery mission.

instead of 1 mission with 1 million logs. why not have a public mission for the nation and a private mission for clan/friendly list. I hesitate to say that the clan would have control over it.

You could argue that it's futile having it as nation only with the large numbers of alts having access to a nations resources. A much smaller amount dotted around the map that can be fought over and a huge amount ( forest ) which could be restricted by who owns the port , but could also be fought over. The same for all the rarer more sought after woods and upgrade resources.
