Not a good excuse. The game has more problems than just being too hardcore. A lot of the mechanics don't make sense or fit with the theme of the game. A lot of exploits and cheesy bugs still plague the OW, the sandbox still for the most part wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.
I say it always but ow pvp is still being directed towards capitals and freezones. A HUGE gameplay paradox where you're suppose to be safe but being exposed to the most danger, while also having this massive highly detailed map with nothing guiding players through it. There's a real lack of psychological push and gameplay stimulation. You're very much expected to mentally fill in the gaps in many aspects to be able to tolerate the gameplay. Wouldn't say that's an affect of the game but a defect.
Granted, the devs have gotten better keeping consistent in their patches, going towards a single goal. But there's still a lot of mess left over and a big part of it is the idea that this game runs, and runs well off of
1. Very little information given to the player
2. Very little guidance on OW, nothing visually representative to gauge the state of conflict in game
3. Very little to no representation of land through gameplay. You get forts and ports but otherwise the only thing land serves is to shape the map, no economic or logistic aspects spur from coastal areas. It's all very you are a ship, and nothing exists in this game besides ships.
4. Being as inaccessible as possible without being literally glued to the game 7 hours a day catching all the battle news, conversations in chat and all hot locations of the day.
This isn't being hardcore, it's downright blindingly disconnected and incoherent. It's very hard to put life into this game when the game itself expels so little life to begin with. Nearly everything OW involved feels bizarre and desolate and disconnected. It reminds me a bit of this video lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6ScJLIp3Z8 (watch at your own discretion, it's not bad but not exactly pleasant)
Like you'd think you'd get a sense for the world beyond yourself and other players, a bustling 18th century caribbean, civilians, dockmasters, shop owners, military men, ants to you and your magnificent ship but still having an effect on the world (which is compressed and tabletop looking but doesn't mean it can't fit the mark)
But no, the OW is like the psychological horror of a realistic 18th century setting where nothing but overly sized ships exist, no people but the robot-like crew on bored and the invisible men manning the guns. No city has any population or traffic, just items and ships lol. No information is available to you. The admiralty is like your overlord but it's not a person or even a group of people. It's a entity that has no tangible body. It just sells you things and gives you obscure missions to attack bizarre AI that sails in fixed lines back and forth back and forth waiting to be slaughtered.
Doomed, in this world you are to fend for yourself like a stray dog, no one or nothing to guide you but yourself and the other captains doomed to the sea. God has abandoned you and you no longer receive signs from above to guide you on your path. Nothing is laid out for you, the only people who remain are the ones who can loosely connect the dots of this disenfranchised world that you try to immerse yourself in and find tangible purpose.
so yea, still not there yet.
I’m not gonna read your book, I’m restating what @adminsaid. No one cares for those who expect to have their hand held

Why don't you understand that it is never the players fault if a game population fails?
The game lacks fun. It had some of it back in 2016.
I have made a lot of feedback on this. But I'm met with an army of bezzerwizzers. If I don't find the game fun, it's my own fault.
Ok. What about this: NA is crappy and gets bad reviews. It's a bad game with big flaws.
You can change things or you can blame the players.
What do you think will work the best?
Have fun blaming, dude.
Well play another game lol. The game is for hardcore players who love the hardcore game, not for the developers money or for players who don’t see the developers game to be fun. If the game ain’t for you, it ain’t for you, move on and stop whining.

I'm going to wager that no new player, without coaching or finding some way to cheese, would ever complete the final exam without significant extra time spent learning how to fight AI on the open world.
This in and of itself isn't a problem, but I think some extra explanation in the Final exam screen would be useful to set expectations. I'd also let people know in the Endurance exam that they, "Should preserve their armor and capture repairs because as a captain you should always prepare for an extended engagement," or some such. As a new player who might just barely scrape by the first brig (which is a huge step up in difficulty from the previous exams) and all of a sudden facing the second unexpectedly is a potential rage quit situation, especially if the player has been cautious and taken their time.
I’m sorry, but how did you learn how to play the game? Practice? Setting goals? New players goal should be to complete and claim reward of the final exam. Thus asking the nation and attempting tactics and learning how to fight a hard battle. Most elitist players in this game have learned how to play by setting goals and practicing and consistently putting themselves in hard situations. It’s a learning experience, like admin said, once you complete the mission as a new player(no matter how many times you tried it) you will no longer need someone to hold your hand for you and you will be able to compete with other players in pvp.

I understand that this is the easiest way to do it, but have you really gotten the knowledge of how to do this if you just finished the tutorial? To me this "speed runner" tactic that you know if you are very familiar with the games ins and outs, and to me it should be possible with just the info you get from the tutorial(which it is, as doing the strategy posted by admin). To me it is only a little bit unfair that they have double and charge while you don't.
The tutorial simply gives you all the tools you need to approach the final exam. It tells you how to defeat foes you will find on the open sea. It’s up for the captain to come up with a strategy. Your not going to complete it the first time as a newbie and it’s expected. But once you complete it you should be ready for pvp because you could then think for yourself in combat.

Guys, the safest way to do the exam is to rageboard the first one and kill it using your guns on its defend, keep it afloat by not clicking sink, and fighting the Next AI nearby, use a repair cycle, then when your to much damaged, take command of the AI Cerberus, and finish the job.

The hidden goal of any endurance exam is this
Cut off players who dont fit.We dont want all new players - we want the right players who will fit.
Remember we are not making games just for the money - here is a story about our "F*** you" to Apple Inc and money in general - described in USA Today - https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/06/25/apple-pulls-confederate-flag-games/29287163/ or polygon https://www.polygon.com/2015/6/25/8846695/apple-confederate-flag-civil-war/comment/313260912
The real goal of the tutorials to cut off whiners right from the start. Let them refund or do whatever. We want the right players in the game. Wrong players will just go refund after couple of attempts.
I love you more and more everyday admin. You speak what comes from my mind daily

I found a glitch/bug in the tutorial. I was doing the final exam in Rio, and I sank in mission. I was on my rattlesnake because I just opened the ship(no guns no repairs on board, I’m in port why do I need them). After I had died the game put me outside la Mona, in middle of nowhere and I could not enter the port afterwards. I had no time to F11 as there was enemy players near by so I had to run away quickly. I restarted my game to try again, even tried friendly ports afterwards instead of free port. I logged out on the open world. @GreasyMnky has a recording of my bug if you can find out anything from him maybe. @admin little help here ? 😁

I honestly can not wait for this patch to go live.

I really want you to explain to me.
Can you please elaborate or explain why did you choose pvp server and not pve server?Admin, I love you for these very wise words. Couldn’t have said it any better

@admin I really enjoy this idea, however I may suggest something, can you make it to where loading chain is an option for carronades? I like to run carronades on the top decks of my frigates a lot, and I normally just turn it off with F1, however the thing is if chain is limited I would like to focus my chaining on guns that I like to use the chain on, such as my medium cannons or Longs specifically. Rather than the 10-12 carronades loading chain automatically when I load it. Those 10-12 chain shot could be used better on my lower deck. Otherwise, I enjoy the idea of chain in a “strategic” sense rather than a spam sense, good job on the dev team for coming up with a brilliant idea.

Alright, cool thanks. Yeah me and greasy were unaware if it was a bug or not so we decided to hunt for it and record it and ask. Thanks for the info @admin

Major problem I had a game crash and when I pulled game back up I was in combat with no repairs on my ship. This has been a known issue for almost a year now and yet nothing is ever fixed. I would like a refund on my ship I lost
it was a prince de Neufchâtel, I sent in an F11 report around 18:40-18:50 server time.

Do you know if it‘s possible for late joiners of such safe zone battles to join right where the fighting ships are?
If you have an idea of where they are yes. This is how the old outlaw mechanic was, pay attention to where they joined if you can see it or ask the person fighting where it is N S E or W

yes ... it is very likely that Redii will buy an alt in another nation in order to disguise himself in a Tbrig just to make you a surprise.
Get back to reality man ... most of the ones clapping at the nerf of safe zones will attack just national traders that go in and out capital cities
Wrong....I will attack you directly no matter what ship your in noob

@admin great work, I’m excited to test this out myself. I will give feedback after today’s hunting on what the reinforcement is like and how it can be better if need be.

Come on, rediii! From you I would have expected more constructive criticism.
Please, don't let us die in ignorance.
The reason why the loss happened against prussia is very clear, you guys spawned with the wind in your face at C point never being capable of getting any of the capture zones and not playing for the objective. When I seen this, I knew right then and there it was an easy victory we didn’t have to try for... the way you could have made things better is reverse the spawn locations according to the battles wind. You should have had the surprise and mortar brig engage C point and spawn the main fleet at B then giving you the wind to have to fight the defending fleet and control the objective. Not doing this allowed prussia to not even have to try for victory. Battle coms was just fun and games.
